"Becoming the strongest woman in the world!" Chun-li Match-up Thread

i think we can have some neat stuff

hzu xx exrfc

legs xx exrfc

sbk… no wait

Yeah, I was thinking rfc off of legs would probably be really good. Gotta hit the lab when it comes out to see what I can come up with though.

Anyone have any thoughts on major matchup differences so far?

I am still of the opinion that Hugo is much better than people give him credit for. If anyone watched WNF yesterday or is willing to watch the archives, Mike Ross played Hugo the entire night and was wrecking face. And he was trolling.

The good Hugos that I’ve faced are a nightmare…

Does anyone notice anything different input wise with this version? I’m dropping the simplest links off of jabs… It feels different, like slowed down or something? Am I imagining it? I can’t believe that’s the case because I was playing AE the day before ultra was released. Somethin is off.

yep there´s a 1f of added hitstop IIRC.

about hugo is week one so w/e, all the grapplers are SSS the first weeks of a new game

I haven’t noticed too many differences in the matchups yet. But I havent played the majority of the cast. The most striking for me so far was that Akuma feels like a favorable matchup. 6-4. Also, Yang feels tougher.

Poison seems weird. I dont think that she has an advantage just yet, but right now I’m struggling with her. Its more than likely due to the fact that shes new and I never played SFxT. I definitely gotta go into training mode and see how I can punish her FBs because it seems like theres really fast recovery.

HP version is the only one I see as problematic. I can easily punish the rest, but that one recovers so fast that you can’t wait to punish. You have to reaction punish with ultra when you’re closer to her. Otherwise the FB will trade if you start from too far away.

I’ve been dash u1-ing poison’s FBs with no issues. Poison doesn’t seem to bad. I feel like her FA comes out pretty fast though, like cammy almost.

The problem with punishing Poison’s fireball with U1 is that if she uses the HP version, the recovery is mad fast, like sonic boom fast.

I played a couple of hours of endless matches with a good player that is picking up Poison, and once he discovered that the hp fireball was hard to punish with my U1, he started to throw it out to bait my punish attempts, and it worked wonders for him.

If it’s sonic boom fast, you may have to dash U1. Or a la Guile, anticipation punish it instead of reaction punishing it. I doubt very many good players would waste a random Ultra just for that though.

After a good 6 hour session in ranked last night, I’m very noticeably having difficulties in the poison match up too. I have an abysmal 28.57% win rate versus her(my only worse win rates are against Blanka, Gen and Rufus). I just don’t know how to approach this match up. Her fireballs are really good. They are hard to hazanshu over because they will hit you so high, and her fierce fb has ridiculous recovery. That, coupled with most of my favorite bnb’s whiffing her for no apparent reason, and broken U1 corner juggle…she’s like my new nightmare. Even bad players are beating me. :s

Not having too much trouble with the other new characters, but I have only played a handful that felt like they had a good grasp on their character.

The only thing I ever forget about against poison is her damn overhead. She’s kind of like an autistic viper minus the burn kick. I have no problem poking her to death honestly and her DP kinda sucks so on wakeup I just rape her. Getting in can be a pain because of her FB but I don’t find it any harder than facing a shoto. Don’t know what to say, practice makes perfect. Put some time in training mode I guess.

i play against a local poison player didnt notice any problem… as a dekappa tho lol

decapre´s u2 is the new hosenka so good

cross post from the group (da besssss :smokin: )

Ok, this is just lol Day 3 info from me, but this is my experience fighting Hugo.

Remember the old days where vanilla Zangief was a contest of how many times you’d press far s. hk? It sort of turns out that way. You gotta keep it lame, and stay out of clap range because those loops hurt.

Be careful about pokes. Don’t get outpoked by c. lp or claps; at the same time be careful when he has EX for lariat and running grab.

I used U1 mostly because of the damage, plus because of his size it seemed that he juggled easier in the corner than most. Sometimes I did EX leg to ultra and thought that it wouldn’t corner carry, but it did.

Oh and be careful about the flying butt attack and his j. lk, it can stuff some of our stuff particularly on wakeup.

Also be aware of Hugo’s option selects. He can catch backdashers with EX backbreakers, as it detects airborne status.

Anyone have frame data for claps on whiff or block? I was trying to figure out if reaction or punish U1 and Super would work.

Claps are super safe, have ridiculous (RE-DICULOUS) frame advantage on hit, and combo into each other. Saw it on the Hugo boards a while back. I dunno how hard they are to whiff punish based on frame data. That’s for training mode, which I can’t do right now… I would guess that since Hugo has short recovery frames after the clap that you might be out of luck trying to react to a random clap.

Edit- I noticed I said “Claps are super safe,” and they are that indeed. In fact, they are so safe that they are safe from Chun’s super on block. So you might even say that they are… super-safe. Ok bye.

“Super-safe”… I see what you did there.

Can I say the decrappy is annoying? I just lost a match by landing ON her ground pound. Like the dust flying off the ground. Wtf kind of a hitbox does that move have??

Edit: Also, how are we supposed to take on Hugo? He’s even out poking me. I’m lost.

Hey watch it >:(

This is the chun forum, you some kind of traitor? lol
