I love Platinum Games.

Seppy you are double posting. And use the taunt button since you don’t have the Gaze.

I think its cause of the new SRK. Everytime I post, it says I’m trying to post twice but I have to wait the limit. Since he’s a mod, he has no limit, so it double posts.

Guys.

Ok so I got the game yesterday and I love it, but I really need a bit of input on the combo system.

I am REALLY sad that there is no regular training mode…I have NO idea why they would give you that excellent training mode during the load times, but not give you access to it as a full on training aid from the main menu. Ugh.

Here are my questions:

  1. What are the best items/upgrades/weapons to save halos for? Is there a priority? Should I be saving up the big $$$ for the expensive accessories, or are there key new moves that I NEED to get before I try for the other stuff?

  2. I need to pick about 4-5 BnB combos, but I really have no idea which ones to try and master. I know some combos have different ways to launch and juggle certain opponents, but right now I’m talking more about damage output and halo rewards. If you guys have specific BnB combos that are “must use”, please let me know.

  3. Any other tips for how to do well in this game and maximize my upgrade potential is greatly appreciated.**

Thanks!!!

I taunted Fortitudo, and he bit my face, and I died.

Yup. There are workarounds for this, but I find it faster to just delete my double posts. I must have missed that one last night because I was tired and/or still playing the game.

While I’m no expert at this game, here’s some of my opinions on your questions:

  1. Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa is probably one of the best accesories, since it allows you to avert and/or counter enemy attacks. It is required to obtain some achievements/trophies, and it is well worth the halos. Gaze of Despair is good for halo grinding, since you’re basically in perma-taunt while you have it equipped. Air Dodge, Bat Within, and Crow Within are the techniques I would recommend picking up first, as the first two will dramatically improve your survivability, and Crow Within is needed to reach certain areas.

  2. This probably depends on what you are doing. For instance, if you’re doing an Alfheim portal that requires you to beat enemies only with Wicked Weave attacks, then P, K, P (particularly with the katana) does a good job, since the sequence is short enough so that you can execute a Wicked Weave quickly. If you’re doing an Alfheim portal that requires you to use a certain amount of torture attacks, on the other hand, then P, P, P, K (hold), K (hold) does a good job at building magic, especially if you hold down each K input, and you don’t use the final K Wicked Weave (since it’s strong, and might kill enemies before you can torture).

  3. If you want to practice for a longer period of time, simply hit select during the loading/practice screen, as it allows you to practice for as long as you like.

Parabellum they let you test out every single move before you buy it. Just mess around with the moves until you find the ones that ook good for you. With that said the foot stomp and the shoulder check are incredibly good and damaging. Shoulder check was my first purchase and I do it again in a heart beat.

Also yeah hit select during a load time and you can practice as much as you like.

Thank you both, that is great info.

If anyone else has similar suggestions, I’m all ears.

What’s so good for Heel Stomp? I already have the shoulder check move, and I’m saving up for parry.

With a full magic meter you can bust out back to back Wicked Weaves without sending the enemy flying across the room and out of range. The Hell Stomp slams them into the ground so they stay where they are. The shoulder check sends them flying and can send them out of range for the follow up. It’s basically a free Wicked Weave that keeps them in combo range. It does mad damage too like the shoulder check does. Be careful though the Wicked Weave uses 3 magic orbs and you drain your magic pretty fast this way.

Heel stomp with witch weave is awesome IMO. I usually use it after crap like P P P K K K or in the air P P P K nonsense.

outside of the witch weave version…I guess it can throw the opponents off balance?

If you have magic meter it’s great for an immediate wicked weave attack. The non wicked weave version will stun an enemy for a brief moment.

I’m having a hard time trying to figure out what the “legit” way of playing this game is. I did no items for my normal playthrough, although I did grind halos a bit because all the techniques/weapons are crazy expensive and I bought a couple less useful things without realizing how stingy the game was going to be. I also got the “taunt to gain HP” accessory toward the end but it was pretty abusable so I might avoid it in the future.

Now that I’ve unlocked hard I started a completely fresh game and am doing no items/grinding, but as a result I hardly have anything purchased beyond the main essentials (air dodge, bats, that lunging attack). I’ve got like 120k halos sitting around but I can’t decide whether to buy Durga alt or try messing around with a different accessory, like the one that replaces witch time with counters.

Hopefully the harder difficulties will be really punishing, Ninja Gaiden 2 had a bunch of abusable shit but even if you used them the game was still doing everything it could to kill you so it created a pleasant “play to win” scenario where I never had to worry about cheapening the experience.

This game is ridiculously fun though, it has easily exceeded my relatively high expectations. All I need is a bullshit difficulty and I’m set.

The only thing I didn’t like in NGII was how it cheated you constantly. That’s some Bull Shit.

if you press back(the opposite of start) during the loading it stays there in training mode as long as you want it, I used to load that cloud stage, and do some combos on that, its awesome. Maybe i’ll start playing it again but for now its sfIV ;|

The game is stingy because you’re not supposed to start from scratch on higher difficulties, and you’re also not supposed to get everything on your first play.

Yeah you just buy stuff as you go. There is A LOT to unlock and some of them are really time consuming(like finishing any chapters 100 times), so during those you save up halos to buy stuff. You should be able to get something new relatively frequently.

On my infinite climax run. Holy shit. One GnG combo almost kills you completely. lol. Up to chapter 9. This shit is so much fun.

The parry is damned awesome. I’m standing infront of bosses and laser beams like, FUCK YOU, parrying those shits with ease. lol

I’d use the gaze, but Butterflies + Parry is to much to pass down. I need to work on my spacing so I can taunt. A couple of times I bit the dust, because I taunted and got destroyed. lol

Awesome, I can’t wait to parry that shit. I didn’t know there was parry.
