The creative direction DC wants for their movies doesn’t make me hopeful for Captail Marvel. He’s bright, fun, funny and full of child-like wonder. Something they don’t want their movies to be.
It’s like DC just marathon read a bunch of image comics from the 90s and just said"yeah that’s what we gotta do now."
Tbh id take a faithful rendition of Gen 13 any day of the week
I remember liking the Gen 13 movie from 14 years ago. I should rewatch it again to see how well it holds up
I wouldn’t mind a gen 13 movie…still wouldn’t even mind a good spawn movie.
No one wants a Shazam withoutt all the silly kiddy shit
Nolanesque Shazam would be like Daredevil
Daredevil wasnt Daredevil it was Spiderman starring Ben Affleck
SHUT THE FUCK UP
oh wait, it works the other way around
Historically, movies that centre around a kid, suck ass because most kids can’t act. They either have to pray for a miracle, or focus more on Captain Marvel and Shazam or however they go about this potential trainwreck.
This is actually why I was kinda hoping Rock would be Captain Marvel instead of Adam because he could do a good job of being a grown ass kid.
lol fuck no troll
Rock is perfect for Adam. You can’t possibly legitimately argue differently. I’m more worried about Billy, and to a lesser extent, Captain Marvel. I’ve already said Patrick Warburton, and I’m dead serious. I can’t imagine anybody else playing him.
I’d die laughing if they pull Ian McKellen as Shazam, just to spite Marvel.
I’m not one to really care for if the actor looks like how the character is traditionally drawn granted some of my favorite comic to movie actors pulled of the look it was their characterization of said characters personality that did it for me.
Patrick Warburton is a pretty good pick. I couldn’t imagine him doing an on screen superhero without picturing the Tick though
I think looking at least somewhat like the character is important…it would be nice if christopher reeve level casting could always happen.
In superhero movies I think actors looking the part is 80% of success, comic book characters dont have voices and a professional actor at least should be able to convey personality.
I somewhat agree, though I think 80% is a bit high. Green Lanterns failure had nothing to do with Ryan Reynolds who could look the part.
I think there is a combination of looks and ‘understanding’. I think Captain America 2 is a great example - what sells Chris as a good CapA doesn’t really shine until this one…he seems to really understand how CapA would act/feel and carries the right gravity for the situation. Yeah he looks the part pretty well, could argue some details like hair, but he pulls off the look well, but his CapA is great because of his acting. Ironically on the flip, I didn’t like his human torch despite him somewhat having the look. Though I can’t call if that was the movie(s) being ass or him. Just didn’t like the character as ALL.

Is there any word about what the story is gonna be?
The Superman/Batman comic was my favorite pre-new 52, and there were some good story arcs but they relied on tons of background, so they might not fit well in a “first Batman reveal” movie.
Plus Luthor’s in the movie, he’s probably gonna be the main villain?
liking the new batmobile, looks like a hybrid between the comics and the tumbler
It looks like a ladybug about to fly.
Looks like the one in Arkham Knight too, almost similar to its battle mode.

Bammas on Twitter were pissed off because it had guns on it and saying that Batman doesn’t use guns. That type of nerd rage was hilarious to read.
You see the headline and you get happy.
You read the description and you end up sad and pissed.
You see that Timm is co-Executive Producer and you think there’s at least some hope.
But…that description…
