I really liked the Senate scene, I wouldn’t call it emo at all. Superman just failed, he opens his eyes and all he sees is death, he is alive physically unharmed. His powers is also his curse. Like he said to Lois later, he didn’t see it, he should have been able to save everyone. That image will haunt him.
Tbh, I have no idea how to salvage this. The plot points just don’t mix well enough to create a coherent narrative, hence the need of all those abrupt cuts. There needs to be new footage.
Spoiler
I’d cut the Africa segment entirely. The senate sequence is entirely a consequence of what happened in the battle against Zod (timeskip between MoS and this is less then 2 yeas). Give us that opening with Bruce (minus the bat rising crap), then let the movie focus on Superman for a bit. Mix the Lois/Clark footage with Supes arriving then going for the courtroom.
Explosion ensues.
Authorities, worried about wtf happened, enter in contact with Luthor. There can be a few lines added explaining that Luthor tried to show his plans for weapons using the recently found Kryptonite, but they were initially dismissed because Supes has been actively helping people all over the world ever since the Metropolis incident, but now realize he might have been onto something. Luthor demands access to the ship + Zod’s body, stating he needs access to Kryptonian tech in hopes of trying to find something else that might be able to stop Superman in case Kryptonite fails.
Cut to Batman, with the explosion bringing him over the edge and making him decide to act. By doing some detective work(the party scene can work here with some tweaks) or through the Matches Malone persona, he begins to dig to try to find some weakness in Superman, discovering out about the Kryptonite that Luthor is bringing and how it supposedly can kill Kryptonians. Shit plays the same during the chase scene, with exception of Superman stopping Batman, but the truck with the tracker manages to escape either way. A new scene of Batman getting inside LexCorp to steal the Kryptonite and doing some really nasty damage in the process is added. Clark sees this on the news at work the other day and takes note of the brutal nature of Batman and how he might be out of control, tracking him down some day and telling Batman to stop.
Batman calls him for the FT10 after a few days, with Bats getting the upperhand due to Kryptonite. As Batman is going to finish him off, massive shockwave comes from Metropolis, with Superman saying that it’s came from the location that the remains of the Kryptonian ship is. Doomsday is out. Lex jr. is killed in the rampage. Supes goes ahead to fight Doomsday, while Batman heads to the ship to try to get some idea of what the fuck they are dealing with, finding out about how it’s based of the body of Zod and modified by Kryptonian tech with Luthor’s tinkering.
Fight proceeds with a combination of Kryptonite Gadgets and Superman hitting really hard they manage to finish the monster off.
Oh, I think the scene overall was alright too in isolation, but in the fan edit I had, I think it’d be more effective to him just “disappear” after the explosion, to further compound the public’s and more importantly Batman’s distrust of him, which I feel is the driving force of the film.
I’m working with scenes the film offered me, I’m trying my best ok
Futureman wouldn’t go through dreams. His ass aint J’on.
If they wanted to convey it better all they had to do was get rid of the dream sequences. Show a portal opening up, show the hellhole that world is, and have Flash say “Lois is da key!”
Nothing else would have been different. They could even have had Bruce wake up again from the shock of living another live, or dying in this case.
They recorded audio of themselves watching the movie.
LOL at TechnoTroll.
LOL at Jesse Eisenberg’s comiccon reaction to Gal Gadot saying that she is getting the opportunity to show the strong beautiful side of women
Batsy V Supes broke $400Mill world wide making it the biggest superhero opening ever
Considering my local multiplex charged £12.50 without 3D glasses to watch the movie I’m not surprised that these movies rack in so much despite the negative press.
We all knew it was going to make a shit-ton of money this weekend.
But will it have the long-term success of those other films, once people actually think about the movie? Will people actually view it multiple times, or tell their friends to go see it?
