I don’t get it. HEC is a bit far away from opponent. I missed many times with HEC ending. Did you dash?
right now…i starting to think its character specific. Because on some characters like Paul it won’t work. but others like Hugo it will hit almost every time. Whenever i get the chance i’ll change it to character specific

Really? But i feel s.mp hits higher than s.hp, so a lot of lows beat it (ryu’s, nina’s, kazuya’s, etc.
Why do you feel that j.MK is bad as an air-to-air? Is it it simply because it’s slower? I’ve been using it a good bit and it seems to work really well for me.
Ya it does seem to get beat sometimes but thats wat sweep is for. And even tho I doesn’t look like it it does. Go further and iam pretty sure it hits crouchers
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this thread. I was probably going to end up having Hwoarang as a main anyway due to mixup potential and Digimon protagonist appearance, but this guide helped me jump into learning him faster than anything else on this site has done with other characters.

Amazing guide TekGenbu. Quick question. What sort of partner do you think works best with Hwoarang? My team right now is Jin/Kazuya but I want to start practicing with other teams. Right now I’m thinking Either Hwoarang/Raven or Hwoarang/King. Are either of these teams good? Thanks for any input
I run Law/Hwoarang or Juri/Hwoarang…i don’t use Hwoarang as a point. in my opinion(OPINION!!!) i feel like Hwoarang is a better anchor, characters like Law and Juri can easily tag Hwoarang in Through Damaging Combos. But thats just me and my team. I feel like Raven,Juri,Law,King,Asuka,Ken,Guile, and Kazuya are good Hwoarang partners, also those are the only people i’ve tried. If you ask me questions. I’m gonna answer them, i don’t like to leave questions unanswered
Something to add to the section on shutting down rolls:
After HK Hunting Hawk (214HK) in the corner: Hold up and towards the corner and wait until Hwoarang begins his second jump. Very early in the second jump, input HK Air Raid Special (41236HK) to get back out of the corner. You can also mix this up with the other versions of Air Raid Special; MK may or may not cross up depending on timing, and LK never crosses up. The only way for the opponent to avoid this mix-up is by rolling into the corner, forcing Hwoarang outside of the corner. In any case, you will always be right in front of the opponent with enough frame advantage to pressure them as usual.

What is his BEST Anti-Air after his Shoryu ? Because I use cr.mk but it’s really strange
mp. But mk is better because it’s special cancellable so you can always cancel into dash for a mixup. Otherwise anti-air damage from normals is negligible damage and won’t stop the opponent from jumping.
Can use hk, c.hp, c.mk for AA. They’ve all got the same issue though. You’ll trade or get beat out if they’re landing on top of your head. He’s got nothing like a shoto cl.hk or c.hp. Nothing that covers that space.
One thing for AA I’ve messed around with a little bit is ex special step xx lk skyrocket. Tried it a couple times when body splash was pissing me off and it worked, but I haven’t taken it to training mode or anything.
U can also combo from his cr.mk anti air on ch

I was having the same trouble. I couldn’t link the HEC after any jumping attack following the EX HH, so was just doing it without the jump completely.
