do you guys know what a good auto correct move is?try and go around the back of blanka’s AA ball, now that thing is going to hit you 8 out of ten times no matter what you do.
every single move that sagat has is an auto correct failure(including his ultra),so although your price for bad execution is pretty high, there is nothing to fear about if you’re doing it right.
and sorry for not knowing that rugalitarian is such a legendary vega player.because, after looking at his tutorial video where he grabs everyone from the front,i thought he had it wrong.
Haters gonna hate!
Just because you have a different opinion about all of this doesn’t mean you have to be a total prat to everyone. Seriously, what have you contributed to this community other than your excessive obnoxiousness?
hater?
when did i ever hate?all i was trying to say is that sagat storing up an ultra meter shouldnt stop you from doing the vortex.
the arcades that i play in normally doesnt allow videotaping.but let me tell you something,if some of you feel that theory fighter
is the only thing im good at, go to
http://forums.gameaxis.com/showthread.php?t=1493936&page=658 and read the following 2 pages.
now that guy who is dissing on me is one of the best sagats in singapore(make note of how an obnoxious person actually types),read the next two pages to see how my beef fight turned out.
so i guess i could say that i contribute to the vega community(in my part of the world) by proving that claw doesnt suck.and this happens a lot i tell you.
but seriously,i’ll try to get a vid of me playing asap.cause honestly this is a bit embarassing.
wow… everyone chill out. I didn’t see anything inflammatory in that comment from Laxlight, just some tough love. we’re all bros here, we all play vega, we’re supposed to be tight. Relax peeps/.
also correct me if im wrong,on wake up vega can grab boxer out of his turn punch.ofcourse you got to make sure that its an izuna and not a slash.
^ i don’t think so. turn punch has invincibility on start up.
That would only be possible if a recent update made all cases of full body invincibility lose to grabs (that would suck…).
Also, why do people call the Izuna loop a vortex? There are only three possible options (grab, claw, drop), and back-dashing beats the best one (grab), right? Is it just for cool points?
I still call it a loop. I dont like how everything nowadays is being labelled as a “vortex”
Loop > vortex. FUCK YOU ARTURO!!$! AGHHHHHAHAHA
i call it a vortex because it’s not a loop. a loop would imply it actually is repeatable and inescapable. I use vortex because, like Abel, it involves a knockdown situation where Vega is at a huge advantage and the opponent is at the expense of Vega if they guess wrong.
No. You’ll whiff Boxer everytime. I tried that on Keno once. once.
he’s given boxer a one out of ten for a reason.he’s talking about looping on other characters that it works on.
Kind of late to the party, but thanks, Joz, for putting together this comprehensive list of character specific FBA strats. The greatest revelation, for me, was its effectiveness against Zangief. I’m usually too afraid of the Lariat to attempt the vortex on knock down, so this is something I will definitely try to incorporate.
I think you’re not giving Guile enough credit here though. On a good day, you can string together slapstick amount of Izunas in a row sure, but he’ll get that auto-correct EX FK or Ultra often enough to remind you that it isn’t free damage all the time either. … maybe an 8/10? it isn’t as consistent a tool to give Vega an obvious advantage in the match, and I don’t think Vega is so poor that the Izuna is the only thing giving Vega that leg up into an even 5/5 standing.
…or maybe I just lack perspective. Guile is the only matchup I feel at least somewhat confident discussing…
You’re rigt, the auto correct can save him sometimes, but in general it is a bad idea for him to try and do that. I think he is better off trying to backdash or something, in which case his only real punish from there would be sweep. Guile is like Blanka in that you can take a lot of chances, neither of them really punish for great big damage and neither really have a devastating rushdown. guile suffers in this matchup because of his lack of mobility and how pretty much any flash kick is punishable by Vega because of his ability to move in and out of range so fast. Sonic booms aren’t much trouble for Vega becuase they’re easy to dodge and barcelona is actually really effective in this matchup. Great for deking and baiting air-to-airs since a lot of guile’s love to air grab. Focus is easy to izuna. I wouldn’t say that this is an abusable part of this match up but is definitely one of Vega’s chief advantages. I’d give the 6-4 to Guile though cause with a life lead Vega encounters a lot of problems. YOu can dodge SB’s but good luck countering them. Guile does not really let Vega in. Vega with a life lead though, run away all day and make him make stupid decisions. If he isn’t trying to get in without a sonic boom, keep him to the ground by using jump back normals and abuse his less-than-stellar footsies and coax him into sweeping when it’s unsafe.
^
yeah i would say you lost to that guile player only because of the fact that you never punished his cr.RH,that and at the time the loops werent an established theory.so now im pretty sure that you can give him a run for his money.
You mean Geom modinside? Man I have been wanting to play that guy again for a long time. No doubt I would fare much better now than I did then.
The people demand a rematch! Provide, Joz-san!
Argh I have no time to play this game anymore hahaha
I have 5 papers due next month and unless I get started now I will be in big trouble come exam time when i haven’t left myself any time to study
I’ll have to drop him a line and get some games in on the weekend. in fact why dont I do that right now ^___^
In my experience backdash seems to always win. One of our two sagat players would try to back dash every time, if successful, ultra. Obviously if he guessed wrong and got forwards dashed he got dropped.
That being said, I have never been beaten by a TU, I can see how it would work in theory, but none of the sagats around here (and they are good sagats) were able to TU out. The problem really lay in if he waited, I could throw the standing frame, if he did it immediately, I could make it whiff sides. In fact, in my head that should at least win in your favor every time. You may not get the grab, but at least I can’t seem to imagine a situation where Izuna gets beat by TU, unless you missed that 1f of standing timing (which to be fair is a loonnnng 1f link). Still, backdash beats it with all characters to my knowledge. Which is good, there SHOULD be a way out.
Hey joz, i just finally took a good look at the numbers you gave for each character… and i dont know man, theres a few that i strongly disagree with.
Maybe it’s just me but 8/10 on gief? I cant even do 5/10 on him, his lariat beats it most of the time.
And guile…9/10? His flash kick beats it pretty damn easily…and his ultra too…both of it auto corrects alot.
Edit: Forgot to mention that Feilong’s chicken wing beats it all the time if done late, if not, it will just go through and keep him safe. I dont remember if its a regular one or an ex chicken wing, but all i know is that my friend that mains him gets out every single time.
