After the death of the arcades in Bako (R.I.P Tilt, Regency, Camelot, Jimmy’s California Ave. , DJ’s, Green Valley Golf Arcade) at the end of the 90s the comp in bako died with it. But the marvel guys along with the use of SRK have been able to keep the spirit alive. SF4 will give a chance for new blood to be a bigger part of the local scene. Marvel 2 is great, I was one of the first in bako to own an import copy when the game was released on Dreamcast… in March of 2000. SF4, KOFXIII, BlazeBlue is the future, and the future looks good.

I realize that some bako players may be reluctant to move on to next gen fighting games for lack of a next gen stick. SF4’s arrival will bring with it new sticks from MadCats. Those with custom sticks are probably not going to want to drop down more cash for another stick especially if they’re very used to the one they have. No worries, Lizard Lick Amusement’s Cthulhu PC/PS3 Board is an easy mod that will upgrade ur stick to be compatable with PC (including Mac, Windows Vista/XP/2K/98, and Linux) as well as Playstation 3 systems. Xbox360 is a no go because of Microsoft’s strict security software, which denies 3rd party manufacturer’s from creating peripheral’s without their permission.

Marvel HAS brought many people together. People have played together, held tournaments in their homes, traveled together to other cities to play for 8 fun years. But its old now. Its tired. Players are loosing interest. I’m not insinuating that you all should stop playing Marvel 2 altogether. What I am suggesting is that we try something new as a community to get the fire back.
