Stop giving Inafune so much credit, Inticreates are the geniuses here.
Looks like a bizarre mix between Megaman Zero and Gunstars Heroes, other than the Chain attack, I’m loving the trailer entirely.
Although most people credit Inafune as the creator of Megaman, Megaman is mostly inspired by the 1973 anime “Neo Robot Casshan,” created by Tatsunoko Productions, and Osamu Tezuka’s legendary 1958 manga “Tetsuwan Atomo/Astro Boy.”
Rush, Megaman’s dog, is actually inspired by Casshan’s own robot dog, Friender. Friender makes an appearance in the NES game Megaman 2 in Wood Man’s level as a mid-boss.
Buraiking Boss, Casshan’s nemesis, is the inspiration for Sigma from Megaman X (as opposed to the original Megaman Series).
Also, in the ending for the original Megaman game released for the NES back in 1987, Megaman without his armor is drawn like Astro Boy.
In case anyone’s curious, Sentai Filmworks has recently licensed the 1973 Casshan anime in the USA, so it is legally available for purchase if any Megaman fans are interested in seeing where Megaman really comes from. As far as I know, none of the various Astro Boy anime adaptations are.
Shame there wont be physical copies.
Gameplay bump.

Probably it was also influenced by the 60s series/manga Cyborg 009. there all robots have number names too.
I have to laugh because the main character’s wall kick animation is practically a carbon copy of Zero’s.
I definitely wouldn’t doubt that, as Shotaro Ishinomori’s works were just as influential as Tatsunoko Production’s and Osamu Tezuka’s:
Shotaro Ishinomori (石ノ森 章太郎, Ishinomori Shōtarō, January 25, 1938 – January 28, 1998) was a Japanese manga artist who became an influential figure in manga, anime, and tokusatsu, creating several immensely popular long-running series such as Cyborg 009, the Super Sentai series and the Kamen Rider Series. He was twice awarded by the Shogakukan Manga Award, in 1968 for Sabu to Ichi Torimono Hikae and in 1988 for Hotel and Manga Nihon Keizai Nyumon. He was born and named Shotaro Onodera (小野寺 章太郎,

Actually the 2003 Astro Boy anime adaptation is still available on Netflix.
