I had my own drinking game during the Final Round stream where I would take a shot every time Spooky said “in there.”
I was wasted fifteen minutes in.
I dont mind phoenix’s offense. it is the best in the game, its hard for sure, but her low life balances that. But that is not the problem with her(it is though once its compounded with her other overpowered abilities). But you combine what is probably the best runaway game i have ever seen which utilizes the most amazingly powerful projectile i have ever seen. and thats just with the normal version. now i gotta deal with that shit a 2nd time, yet its 10times more potent now? bionic arm does not fucking stop that at all. how is that shit gonna hit phoenix when she is super jumping away throwing the most amazing projectile in existence, multiple times? Shes clearly far above bionic arm height. the shit is so slow and tracks for an insane distance that no one can get around it. its based of pure luck and randomness that you get around that defense. on top of that, shes doing it so high in the air that you cant judge the fireball’s distance towards you since you are off screen. oh wait, speaking of off screen and problems discerning the distance the fireball is away from you, no phoenix gets bored and decides to do her 1 frame teleport(i dunno if its 1 frame, i dont care, its retarded fast and you cant react to it) while theres 6 tracking testicle balls coming your way. so now in a 2-4 frame scenarion, she moves from the upper corner of the stage, to the other side of the stage, going for an instant low, while you are still trying to figure out where the balls are at in relation to you.
ah fuck, i thougt i was blocking the balls already when she teleported, when in fact, they werent touching me yet, now she landed one hit on the other side, now all the balls hit, im dead.
yah, she teleported, i blocked the balls. but now im stuck in blockstun taking insane chip damage and she instant overheads me into death.
yay im sentinel, same scenario, i guess the teleport and hit s.S early and hope she teleports in front, i get the launch, but the balls come down and combo break me. joy. now she flies away and runs for another 20 seconds with more bull testicles.
every option you do, is still heavily in her favor. she always has the advantage. it is a fucking matter of luck, beating her… the only time its not luck is if you snap her in early and the opponent is godawful bad.
then when she goes in dark phx mode. its the same problem times 10. balls are more swollen.have more hits, making it damn near impossible to cancel them out, all of her normals shoot stupid projectiles, and shes dumb fast.
as much as i dont care for sentinel, he doesnt break the game. just a little easy mode but theres so many strats to beat him. phx OTOH, is truly broken, to me. and it truly is the one thing that i do think. needs to be addressed. well that and xfactor.
im not saying ban. but i think shes clearlyhead and shoulders above the rest of the cast. and frankly im tired of playing 4 man teams. shes a contender without dark phoenix. its stupid. Ill deal with it, but she definitely hurts the game.
i attack and land damage, they get meter, they attack me, they get meter. i snapback, i have to sacrifice big damage and meter just to bring her in and hope she doesnt escape my clutches, which at this point early in the match, she has 2 assists to help trade hits to get her away and completely take advantage of widescreen and stage scaling to maximize the distance. Now you got the decent players utilizing her heal supers while doing all this crap already, making it even harder. what gives?
no disrespect to fools playing her, like luey. its fair game. i just fucking hate her and hope they do something about it. its ridiculous. Im not one to throw out nerf hammers, but im making exception to this one. shes like st akuma of mvc3. haha

I see the viability of running away with phoenix but personally I think that’s lame. She has the options to prevent being touched and therefore, tons of damage potential. I actually found something even more insane but I’m not yet ready to divulge that :badboy:
Against a runaway Phoenix, sure, but Dark Phoenix can’t afford to do that over and over. At that point it’s possible for Spencer to lame her out. Laming her out is the biggest problem Dark Phoenix has.
The healing is a bit tricky to get going b/c as soon as DPh comes out, she starts to lose health. You either have to start fighting with her to get 1 meter, or tag out (which carries it’s own risk). Once LV1 is gained though, it’s all good from there.

I think you’re forgetting about level 3 XF. Any decent Phoenix player will not use XF until Dark Phoenix is the only character remaining on their team. At that point, they can run away and spam projectiles for 20 seconds without having to worry about losing health and while inflicting crazy guard damage.
With the level 3 XF you don’t need to worry about healing for 20 seconds. But even if you don’t have level 3 XF, the decent players tag Phoenix in as soon as they get 5 bars. Then when Dark Phoenix appears they tag right back out. In this scenario, by the time Dark Phoenix is back in play, she usually has at least one meter.

I didn’t forget about anything. I get LV5 w/ all 3 characters up so XF doesn’t come until later. Like I said, spamming projectiles w/ Phoenix is lame. The way I play her, if Phoenix gets snapped in, I’m blowing you up. If you let Phoenix stay until 5 meters in the hopes of killing my support, I’m blowing you up. Why run away and inflict guard damage with the best offense in the game?
Don’t get me wrong, runaway is a part of her game however rushdown is just as much a part of her game too. You have to incorporate both into your strategy.
Yes, obviously. If you continue to fight at 5 bars w/o using them you are at a disadvantage.
True, but that is unsafe. I have another method that is more safer that generates two meters AND gets her out.

Phx has zero reason to rushdown if the life lead isnt a factor and there is lots of time left. Why take a chance of the opponent getting their lucky random hit and losing when you can just sit back in superjump throwing balls with relatively no fear and watch your opponent get so frustrated and impatient and they beat themselves.
You may think its lame, but its her strongest attribute. I would love her to rush me. If she rushes me, my chances of beating her are much higher, especially with my team. She exposes herself more when rushing down. One mistake and she’s done on offense.

Even with my limited knowledge of Phx, I don’t recommend rushing down unless you are behind on life. She is way too weak in the vitality department to risk getting tagged then combo’d into BS. She does so much damn chip when she is XF+d.phx there is really no point. Hang back and chip them to death or into making stupid mistakes, then… FASTER PUSSYCAT KILL KILL!

BTW guys i think i found my second team finally ( Shuma Gorath , X-23 , DeadPool/Akuma ) They feel great together and actually Shuma feels kinda like Amaterasu. Donno if anyone noticed this but yeah he does.
