Honestly, I think OTG combos that lead into super into DHC into DHC practically lets the game play itself for you. Similarly, I do find the game decently fun, but I think that it practically holds your hand. And certain general game mechanics are so powerful that it seems to begin to erode on the need for any real skill.

That and after trying every character out, they all feel like they play near the same to me with a few exceptions between various forms of keepaway or rushdown, and none of them seem to have any really interesting amounts of depth to them. Just paint-by-numbers chain combos into otg xx super xx dhc xx dhc. I figure I will keep on playing for a while though, since the game is still so young, who knows how it could develop. And I’d like to get a taste of how it feels in a real tournament match before I really decide on if I want to keep playing it or not.

But since I don’t have any huge attachment to one character like I do with Dudley in SSF4, I am just going to whore it out on some of the easiest playing, high damage characters that the game has to offer. So, my team has now become Wolverine, Akuma, Sentinel. Wolverine and Akuma for dealing with Sent, and Sent for being idiot proof (ie - me proof).

I think one of my biggest gripes is execution. execution has always been a necessary skill in any of the fighting games i’ve played in the past. and although it should not be the end-all-be-all. it should definitely affect the match if your execution is not up to snuff. it feels impossible to drop anything in mvc. IMPOSSIBLE. even the “super advanced” chunli combos are laughable.

For me, that really extends to any character that can OTG from full screen into super I think. I was trying to find all sorts of setups into supers from air combos and once I realized I could just end my air combos with S and continue into OTG xx super, getting 100% combos off DHC follow ups became startlingly easy.

There is definitely an addictive quality to the game, but it feels more like a digital equivalent of a game of slap hands with the amount of damage that can be dealt with such ease. I find myself enjoying the flexibility of training mode more than actually playing a match at the moment.

I was trying to play the game competitively, but I have now given up. It seems fun, but there are a lot of things I don’t like about the game. Just as an example, I don’t like the fact that I have to have team synergy. I can’t just pick three characters I like and play. I have to pick characters that have a specific assist and things of that nature.

I want to use V. Joe, but he has no OTG, so I need an assist that gives him an OTG. But I don’t really like any characters with an OTG assist. So if I want to play the game, I either go without an OTG option or play characters I don’t like.

I’ll just wait for MK and hope it’s good. If not, I’ll just hope CnC or MGL gets TTT2 (although I think it’s unlikely).

So yeah, after further testing, Wolverine, Akuma, Sentinel is pretty retarded.

wah wah boo hoo:sad::sad:

Not even Wesker? aww.

im so sick about hearing how this game is so broken. i wasnt crazy in to mvc 2, but that shit was broken as well. shit. look at what you can do to an assist in that game. kill off the main character and do the same 1 attack over and over again until the assist dies. Fucking gaurd breaks could make it so ironman could infinite combo your whole damn team to death. Yes there is broken shit in the game. But thats kindof what makes it a VS game. Yes shit is easier to do in this game, but that kindof seems to be the trend with all video games now adays.

the eaiser the game, the more people will play, the more copies that game will sell. I love 3S, but that game was not a success in capcoms eyes, most likely due to the diffuculty. Same thing with games like GG. Awesome game but the learning curve is way to high, so it has an audiance, but its very small. You could say the same thing about tekken. How many people wanna study frame data all day? I know i dont wanna do that shit.

Just because the game is easier to pick up, doesnt mean your gunna start seeing random people owning everyone. If you look at the top players, many of them are top players in older fighting games. You cant teach fundementals, you have to learn that shit, just because you can do a big combo doesnt mean you know how to implament it in your game.

thats my two cents.

PS go play hokuto no ken. now thats a broken game

Damn Munchie! That’s some hate! Nominated for an article.

those broken games you listed required you to be pretty obscene and put in a lot of time to dissect it down to that. mvc3 gives it to you. that’s the gripe.

^ like i stated. Games are much easier to play and learn then they were in the past. People have the same gripes about sf4 because its not as hard of a game to play as 3s. Not saying i like the fact that games are going this route (reason why i love demons souls. its so hard)But that is just the current states of games. Capcom wants that COD money

i love you SNK

look at chess and checkers. Easy to learn and play but hard to master. Then you got games like Go. Hard to get into and play at high levels but satisfying game once you get to that point.

is mvc3 easier and scrubbier on the base level? yes most definitely. will the better players still win, more than likely yes.

depth doesnt mean its gonna be a good game. I honestly think sf2 is a very simple game, its not that deep. the game is all about refinement. honing your strategies to perfection. It takes insane dedication just to beat a top player in a sf2 game, yet the strategies are so basic/primitive, yet still require a ton of skill. in marvel, you have a lot of different strats you can utilize, that suits your style, and perfect it, same thing to me IMO. mvc2, to me, isnt that deep. none of the marvel games are really that deep. mvc2 just got so insanely hard to play cuz the hardcore players refined the big 4 to perfection. I dont see mvc3 being that different.

Do i think damage is retarded? yeah. but did you play the earlier builds? like the evo build? wow i swear, timeouts most of the time and it wasnt exciting at all. the players werent excited when playing cuz it wasnt tense. the viewers werent excited cuz everything hit so soft.

marvel is all about “anything can happen, at anytime” and mvc3 continues that.

Imagine if VF was big in the states. People wouldn’t know what to do.

mvc2 heads who still have a hard time adapting with the stick set up try set up B with the LB and LT (xbox 360) as assist 1 and 2. this is a lot better for me at least.

Bah. I tried that Network simulation mode in training mode today. Messed up my execution, no wonder I can’t hit my combos online. At least I’m getting good enough for lag to matter.

My yomi always gets in the way of my execution because it’s always oozing out of my fingers.

Hey guys guess what i just bought BlackMagic Design BINTSPRO Intensity Pro NEW- INTL OK! - eBay (item 220505457542 end time Mar-29-11 06:04:32 PDT) hopefully by the next friday we will do our first official streaming, Any names you can suggest for the UStream channel? Lemme know what do u think

Cool man. I nominate, “Home of the AZ punish,” although that is probably more subtitle material.

Also, Ever since I decided to embrace some of the more abusable characters in this game, I am starting to enjoy it much more. I think am starting to understand Louie’s mentality about MvC2. Wolverine, Akuma, Sentinel makes me work a lot less hard and enjoy playing against other online scrubs like myself a lot more.

that’s great man, Am so glad u starting to like it now. need to keep the competition up and streaming games will help everyone for sure

Am down with any name u guys agree on. So can’t wait till we start doing this
