Any stick modders still around? I had my PS3 stick dual modded at SCR, but now it only reads on Xbox360 and not PS3 anymore? :frowning:

wowzers just got back from walmart and i’m playin training mode…this game feels hella strange…also deadpool is feeling pretty good to me…looks badass when he moonwalks…

i’m not liking doom this time around:(…

No need to be a Dick about it, seriously. You should know as well as most. That constant button swapping every 2 minutes is a damn headache. It’s the biggest problem with console. And button config is an even bigger on mvc3 than it is in sf4.

What if we do another bootcamp and now half the time is wasted due to everyone’s silly layouts? Stick swapping on these new consoles are bad enough as it is. Plus turning off excess buttons take longer and are more necessary. Since there’s a lot more commands to choose and they endlessly cycle. Those extra buttons on are a huge problem cuz accidently touching them can trigger team super which will mean you lost the match.

So you guys mean, you have no problem switching control type, turning off buttons(and possibly testing) every 1-3 minutes. Sounds like a massive waste of time.

omg doom is fun! relaunch combos are so good with him, can be done mid screen and has two relaunch options in the corner too.

rick… come out of your cave!
i wanna play you at marvel… got a few things to teach you!
haha :stuck_out_tongue:

Scott: I can completely agree about the button swapping. I really hope that there is a default/recommended setting. I hate watching people do button config crap. This is why it should be accessible from the character select screen/vs screen at anytime, then again in the pause menu, AND there should be a match/round(in the case of sf) restart option in the pause menu. Like a tourny specific pause menu…Make this happen Scott, Do this thing for me.

Just an advance heads up, my stick is a bitch to configure for MvC3. PS3 dualmodded SF4 controller type B meant I had to set my buttons manually, it sucked ass. I’ll memorize it, but just a word of warning to anyone who wants to borrow it during tourneys.

I actually found my experience with BlazBlue to be pretty helpful in learning the default layout. Having S on your thumb is like having Drive on it, and I like that a lot.

Scott, I understand the point completely, I also think it dumb to tell people to man up about a button layout. I’m having the same problem with my ps360 hori stick that Muji is having.

There isn’t a layout for the mvc2 type layout defaulted, I have to play with changing my buttons for
L M 1
S H 2

but there is one for default TVC layout
Lm h
S a1 a2

So I’ve been using the tvc layout. I don’t mind it at all. I’m not going to give people crap about button changes to each their own.

Angelic ya I know ive been in hiding I guess, work has been super busy but thats really good for me since the busier I get the more money I make  Ill be out soon enough.

Luey, I pm’ed you my mag combos that we were talking about last night… I even made it all fancy and shit so you can learn it real fast.

aaron same for you man, let me know what you find…

rick: true… whats your team?

After playing MvC3 for a couple hours or so yesterday, it officially makes no sense to me at all. What’s worse is that I was beating people who should be rolling through me, while still not understanding anything.

I try to be offensive and all of my attacks get beat out. I try to play defensively and someone teleports behind me or I eat a throw that for some reason leads into an 80% combo. I try to play keep away, but my projectiles get owned by other projectiles. I try to get in on keep away characters and realize that if I’m using a character with no air dash I’m pretty much screwed.

I may head over to Robb’s and learn to play, but right now this game does not make any sense to me. When I tried to make calculated adjustments, nothing worked as I expected it to. When I just did random stuff, I won against people who know what they’re doing.

I have high hopes for MK9 after playing this thing… :coffee:

Because no one is ever a dick in this thread…

all bs aside. i understand preferences. i really do get it. i just state this solely on the fact that swapping is gonna be an absolute nightmare. all this would easily be avoided if capcom would be smart for once and let us hit buttons to assign. I don’t know why they continue to refuse to do this. The nice thing about sf4, was that everyone basically had the same stick, everyone was on the same layout. we just ran rotations without a need to change anything at all. now, with mvc3, even when the same sticks are used, you still have to constantly config buttons. I guess my biggest gripe with all this is every player’s need to test buttons, everytime. like they have no faith in setting their shit up right for the 387563876583th time. it’s just such a drawn out process.

i love how 16 bit era capcom got control menus right everytime. pressing buttons to assign commands, and holding select on versus screen to change buttons pre match. atleast have 2 layouts to pick from prior to picking your character a la blazblue. it’s really frustrating that these obvious design choices constantly get overlooked

I’m even worse at this game than I am at SSF4.

so far im really liking she hulk and doom. still undecided on a third character. On another note fuck Best Buy. So upset i wasnt able to get a collectors edition last night. I know its not your fault Robb. Just pissed that i could have gone somewhere else and got one. Now i prolly cant because they are all sold out.

I’m loving the game so far! It is a whole new experience for me and I’m probably gonna need some help getting things down. Also, I’m really liking Chris and Arthur

Scott: Like you say, button config aint that big of an issue as long as they just Rematch > Config > Character Select. The other day our rotation was fairly small, but Me, Armando, Luey and Shane spent almost no time at all reconfigging. Maybe 8 more seconds than it would have taken had we went straight to Character Select only because of waiting for it to say FIGHT.

The biggest issue with this is that people forget to switch buttons until a lot of times some damage has been dealt.
We had a 4 man rotation but we forgot a bunch of times to swap buttons. Imagine a 5 man rotation with random people… you think they are gonna remind each other? and lets say they forget to switch button maps and the guy who already had good buttons started off the round rushing the other guy effectively killing 1 char… do we restart?

its alot of bs that can be avoided by just following a standard
especially when we have A types, B types, and some people with real custom configs (wtf).

TRuST ME! I played a t AIAB and yes, constantly watching other config control’s is a huuuuge bitch!
its jus annoying to have to deal with! its shouldn’t be dealt with!

that aside… game is awesome and Ive had some bad matches online(lag, lag, drop…lol… but fun ones too!)
Deadpool is haarrrrddd to learn! fuckin double jump! lol…

ps, I <3 this game, but why I dnt like how BEATIN the game with a character, means the one who dealt the last hit…

Right?!

Holy hell that’s funny, because I was thinking about posting a ā€œWho here has a baby or two in the house… I wanna make a club.ā€ Hahaha! Anyways, we’re due on April 20th. My school takes all my time now, and my little free time goes to fgs. Now that I’m going to have a newborn around… oy!

Let’s get this ball rolling. Rich, where you at? Haha. Where are all the other fathers?
