That’s not really a mental image I needed thanks man

You’re 100% right. That nerf hasn’t officially been confirmed, but every Sim player thinks it feels different. All I know is it used to get Bison off of me in Super and now it doesn’t. Oh well, enough bitching about my character. Time to tier whore.

4 frame was confirmed months ago. It was the biggest gripe about that character

What is the general consensus on AE? I was under the impression that players were, for the most part, happy with the changes. As a Gen player, I am happy, but I have to admit that there is quite a bit of Yun/Fei going on. I HAVE heard that although Yun is quite good, you really have to have your act together to do well with him. (I am assuming that this is because of vitality/stun meter?) Anyway, Fei has no business being god tier(if there is a god tier in AE). I don’t think that the character is interesting enough for him to be that good. (game play wise) I also think that it takes quite a bit to be good with Fei as well, though, so hopefully we won’t see too much of the same character going on.

Good to know. I read about it way back when AE first came out, but then there was some back & forth in the sim forums about a translation possibly being wrong. At least now I know I’m not imagining things.

Hmm, I was a little confused with the way people were talking about changes. I thought most of the changes were known since AE has been out. I guess a lot people didn’t make it out to gameworks or MGL to test it out.

BTW even though we are still a while away and I will believe it when I see it. I’m excited for KOF13, maybe we can get a scene together to throw some tournaments.

Speaking only for myself, I spent a lot of time at MGL, but there’s only so much you can test out in that environment. I do think a lot of folks were also praying for a surprise balance change in the console release, but that’s probably just those who play nerfed characters. Like Scott said, that was very unlikely, but nobody wants to give up hope on their main.

is AE up on PSN yet out here?

I understand that, most of the major changes have been noted for some time now. There shouldn’t be a big surprises. I’m sure there are things that people will find out now that it is on console with training mode. I thought most people who read these boards would already know about some of the changes with their main characters. I guess a lot people didn’t read about the changes or decided they will figure it out on console.

I, for one, welcome my new AE overlord.

Do you play on xbox,dana?

uhhh but what about marvel!? guyssss, heyy guuyyyysss???

I do, but my gold account ran out a week ago. Waiting on the card I bought on amazon the other day to re up.

I know it’s all ae frenzy now but if anyone want to play mvc3 at my place tonight pm me. I live 30 feet off Gilbert exit on the 60.

mike: theres also the fact that the official AE blog, when they were talking about character changes, they didnt talk about every change for the characters in discussion. Rick found stuff with blanka that do not work in super or vanilla, and was NOT mentioned in the blanka portion of the blog. Thats just one example out of who knows how many changes not listed.

I wish capcom would just stop thinking that we like suprises in our changes and figure it out ourselves. but its really annoying when you think you see a change and its just placebo effect. That shit runs rampant with updates and so much false info gets out there. just give us official change notes damnit! lol

I agree, I wish the would just say this is what changed here ya go have fun. I know people used to have to fight with developers to publish frame date. It’s just dumb. Anyways I’m going to pioking up Evil Ryu and Oni if anyone wants to practice. I’ll reactivate my gold account tonight.

You guys are so right. Can you imagine if a SC2 patch got released and Blizzard’s patch notes were nothing but “We think Zerg players will be happy with these changes?” I guess maybe it’s a case of Capcom still being an old school Japanese company.

I didn’t realize you lived so close to me. I’m just south of baseline on Greenfield. I’m way too tired to come out tonight though.

Exactly. When you look at Netherrealm, you see that they offer patch notes with every patch, hotfixes, etc. They stay in tune with the community and tournaments. We know exactly what to expect out of them and when to expect it.For example, the biggest patch we saw lately did not happen until after UFGT7. They were there at UFGT7 and announced on the stream that the patch was coming around the same time the DLC was releasing.

Capcom on the other hand. Are NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. We don’t know if we’re going to get the rest of the costumes for the cast, they did not comment on any of the patches except that they released notes when people complained about them. We never got any real balance changes whatsoever (Sent HP doesn’t count, he was intended to be like that). All changes up to this point were bug fixes which includes unintentional infinite combos. We don’t know if we are getting any balance changes. Capcom had a chance this E3 and they dropped the ball completely.

To be honest, I feel that Capcom’s fighting games are more entertaining then their competitors. The problem with Capcom, is that their games are riddled with balance problems and I understand that all games suffer from this. The issue is the way they go about it. They agree that the problems need to be fixed, but not necessarily delivered to you online. They want to sell you the fixes and then disguise that with more characters, etc. The problem with this model is that players don’t get a chance to play out these balance changes and it ends up being the final game.

AE and SSF4 is a prime example of this. They messed up the first time when they made an unpatchable game on Vanilla. They fixed it in SSF4 but they never took advantage of balancing the game with their new system. Capcom instead took those balance changes and made it exclusive on the Arcade. Now that it’s here on console, players are having difficulties with the new changes with some people switching their characters entirely. We don’t have any further chances for rebalancing the game because according to Capcom, this is their last SF4 revision. Had they used Netherrealms (or should I say western) strategy of persistent online gaming, we would have gone through these fixes accordingly and if the team made a balancing error, they would be able to go back and buff that character or move.

by the way, Hector from NR announced MK for the PS Vita. We now have three fighting franchises on the PSV. BBCS2, SFxTekken and MK. At this point I don’t have any reason to believe Capcom will bring over SSF4:AE or MvC3 to PSV but I hope so.

I like how Ultra David put it when he was interviewing the netherrealms rep at UFGT. He basically said that he doesn’t like excessive Capcom patches because he trusts Capcom to make a good game at this point. Excessive patching of their games tends to spoil how the metagame evolves. With the NR, they don’t really have that pedigree, so tinkering with their game seems like it will probably only help.

I do wish Capcom would actually release full patch notes though.

I also think they did a great job with balancing AE.
