I was serious when I first said about the tournament, I had Mike in mind. The dude asks a lot of questions. Thankfully for the day off I was able to get the FAQ’s going early in the morning.
I also expected some very serious feedback. We’ve never done a tournament like this. It’s a huge risk yes, but regardless of the turnout, you are going to EVO with with a group of guys who give back to AZ. each and every one of them(HAZ, Arnul, Reece). for us to change a tournament, which originally was to pay off the winner with a registration to EVO, is pretty GDLK NO MATTER WHAT!
Gunrobot, how is asking questions negative or make it seem “like I’m miserable” , I never directly attacked his prize, I never said it was bad or anything like that. I merely was questioning it. It’s really good tournament for people who haven’t made their plans yet or can’t financially afford evo by themselves or for people who want a “free” ride. My questions are legit. Like I said before it’s all things I would consider before I enter the tournament and spend $17. You act just because I question it I’m questioning god himself. I have to post that I’m not being negative because of people like you who ASSUME I am being negative.
Edit: Scott, What I was trying to say was the cash pot might be worth more than the prize itself. I worded that really poorly. Your’re right $17 is worth a trip to Evo. That’s what 2 am and being a insomniac will get you.
The negativity seemed to be a general theme of your posts, not that one in particular. It’s just a trend I noticed after reading these forums every day. The evo tourney discussion is just a repeat of the stream commentary discussion and the stargate discussion. It’s not even a criticism, but a genuine concern of, “Hey, this guy seems to complain a lot. I hope he’s doing alright.”
Regarding the evo tourney, I think maybe if you originally said something like “That’s great that you guys are running a tourney like this, but I have a few questions…” then Dormando and I would have reacted differently.
Point taken. It was merely an observation. I guess I just thought he might be curious to see how he was representing himself to others and see if maybe something was getting lost in translation.
In my original post I said questions, I think the person who matter the most Marty understood and answer everyone of my questions without insulting me or telling me to “quit whining”.
Next time I ask a question I will do the complement sandwich first.
You’re making this kind of statement, yet you’re getting into it with Mike about sweating the details? People need the details Mike is requesting to determine if they can go.
Also, you should be encouraging anyone and everyone to go. If the person who wins can’t go, then you give the prize to second place. But the more people who enter, the bigger the pot and the easier it is for Haz and crew to accommodate the winner.
I think the problem is that you didn’t include the emote.
I’m going to Evo, but heavily reconsidering playing in it. I don’t feel that I’ll be able to get the level of practice needed playing once a week not to mention time needed to research matchups and how to adapt my assists to accommodate. That’s just for Marvel. I might have a better chance at SSFIV if only for the fact that it’s coming out on PC and there’s enough data out there that I can soak up. Same for Blazblue Continuum Shift 2 since it’s coming out on PSP tomorrow.
that’s why we are having this tournament. So you get the chance of competing and not have to worry about your placing in it. We want you to do your best, and feel that this was a great opportunity in saving money and able to go to evo

I think the prize should be (like you guys said) evo registration, ride and room AND the rest of the money should go toward the evo trip FOR TEAMHAZMAT…!!!
none of this 1st 2nd 3rd payout bullshit. Haz youve put so much time and effort and energy AND money into the scene you deserve to get something back. Use whatever money you have left and buy Tshirts hats jackets for the people who rep team hazmat. Haz if anyone is going to get AZ recognized in the national scene its goin be you and your team.
Drop the price to ten bucks. youll get more people to enter, have a better overall tourney for the players, and possibly more cash in the long run. I know that if i was ‘new to gaming’ and saw a local tourney for ten bucks id enter rather than a tourney for twenty.
post this in the dustloop forums, srk and eventhubs. Get this known as soon as you can as fast as you can so the tourney is a success and draws in more competitors.
Haz you reece and walter should make all ‘official’ announcements so there is NO confusion as to who is sponsoring (and you guys are sponsoring…!!!) a player to go evo.
^ love the idea of the team hazmat shirt. i was actually talking to tanya about that last night. I think anyone who wants to rep team hazmat should be wearing a shirt. We could all possibly make a pool of money and buy them. I know the more we get the cheaper they will probably be over all.
Also, i already have everything set up for my evo trip. reg, plane ticket, and hotel (with buffalo crew) but i know if i were to win this thing, Team Haz would still accomdate me on my evo expenses. I cant wait for this tournament. It should be an awesome night
