Im down with 5 personally, hell id like 10. But i want to make sure we maximize entries each week. Then maybe end of month we do a real entry tourney
Random seeding is cool. Why not? Make random tournament results that’ll give anyone a chance to make it to the top. Uhm, $5 entrance is cool with me. $10 is expensive for weekly tournaments, if that were the case I’d say pay out to 4th place. I come from the smash world though where everyone is really cheap, but at the same time say you do 4 tourneys a month at $10 each, 15 entrants each time. Standard payout 70/20/10, so $135 for first place; I don’t like the idea of someone winning four tournaments in one month and walking away with +$500. That’s my bills for a month, let’s not make marvel a full time job for people let’s keep th fun in it too.
I would be cool with like, one $10 tourney a month, two tops. Otherwise $5 entrance fee and donate $1 of each entrance to Haz for letting us storm his pad. Seriously, Haz you are the man hosting these gatherings CONSISTENTLY.
Also, maybe sometime we should just do casuals. It’ll be arcade night, just try to rack up some winstreaks. Sometimes it’s nice to play against a lot of other players without the pressure to give us a little more freedom to experiment. I whole-heartedly agree that tourney pressure improves your performance for handling it later but at the same time I also believe that one of the best ways to improve is to try new things. Gotta strike that balance.
Like I said, Haz is consistent with these gatherings, so we have a lot of chances to experiment. Do new things, mix it up and keep it fresh, going to weekly tournaments can get stale no matter what.

Diante you are getting good man. You’re always asking me these questions about the game, trying to break it down, which is awesome! The more good players we have in the scene the better we can all get.
So, if anybody cares, I’m gonna be switching up my team. Dropping Chris. He’s such a bad character lol, especially without a gtfo me assist. I don’t have a lot of experience with other characters yet so not sure what team I’ll try. I want to play marlinpie’s team but I want a stick to practice all that tech stuff. Until then I’ll just throw Sentinel on my team, he works anywhere.

I’m late on this, but did anyone go to the MK9 tourney at Bookman’s this past Saturday? I’m sure it was full of randoms but would like to know the results.
Don’t mentiong it guys and thanks to all of u for showing up and making it happen. I know it’s gonna get BIG from now on every Saturday and am sooo looking forward to the next one.
I’ve never been to Haz’s but maybe run it like this.
First week of the month $2 casuals. All proceeds go to Haz for apparently being the pimp of the AZ scene.
Second and Third weeks $5 entry. 70/20/10. 1v1 double elimination.
Fourth week $10 1v1 double elimination. 65/20/10/5.
Repeat.
I dunno, just another outside opinion.
So, should we adopt the registration setup WNF does before every tournament?
They use their thread for registration. That way they have an idea on many people have registered. IMO I thinks it’s a lot more time efficient. The day/night of tournament, the TO has a sheet with the player’s name. All that’s needed is to show up and pay.
I’m just throwing it out there. It seems to work well with them.
In regards to the vids haz just posted on youtube, everything looks solid. Even the logo, and descriptions looks top teir.
One thing I would recommend, adjust the mic and game sound so that you can hear both in good quality.

well they do it cuz they cap their tournaments IIRC. Or atleast they used to.
I think every week, should be a tourney or special event of some sort. You can always do casuals there, even when shit is going down, thats what extra stations are for. a tourney, or some ft10 concept/grudge money matches should go down. this is what we need to do. why just have casuals? thats easy to do and can do that anywhere, at anytime. I say dollar tourneys. or 2 dollar tourneys where 1 goes to haz and annie. everyone can afford this, and it wont break the bank when trying to save to go to these events. team tourneys are fun and all, but 1v1 is the way to go still.

holy fuck, after watching my match vs luey at the end, i felt really stupid. the game was over when magneto did shockwave super when we both were xfactored. all i had to do was super, since shockwave is unsafe, and my dumbass did arrows into super instead. GGPO sleep. lol
regardless, those were good matches and luey clutched it back and played it smart by just running from leilei. impossible for her to catch mags haha. i cant do pendulum swing cuz of shockwave so my movement is really limited =(

Only think I can suggest is make the time earlier, 10pm really limits who can make it out including myself.

Haz and others are in the works for improving the overall experience at the HAZmat. This past weekend was pretty much the trial run, and of course there was gonna be hella shit to improve upon…it seems like everyone is well aware of that fact and offering up constructive criticism insteada bitching and moaning, which is great.
