Hey, Justin was telling me that a few people here either were or wanted to look into playing a little bit of BlazBlue, since Armando is nice enough to let the few SF4 players that Dustloop has over at his place to play, I’d like to extend the invitation for any of you who’d like to come to my place tomorrow for BB, since the HazMat tourney is next week I figure there might not be any other gatherings that I’d be conflicting with tomorrow (actually it’s technically today/Friday). Eh, there will probably be a wide amount of variance and customization for the first 3 months the game is out. Then people will figure out the optimum gem settings for each character and everyone will use those, with a few unorthodox folks picking team-specific stuff. It sounds a lot to me like assists in Marvel. You can customize your assists to fit your team however you want but in the end there’s just gonna be a better option. SA’s in 3S, Grooves in CvS, there’s always some degree of customization but the competitive community will figure out the best one and then move on from there.

Dude, this is not even close to being a comeback mechanic. I think this is the most genius mode ever. bother players will always have both characters, cuz you are KO’d if you lose one character. On top of that, you have 8 seconds, 8 seconds to KO the player or you die. I think this is the best idea of a supposed “comeback” mechanic that i have ever heard of. Unlike x-factor where you can use it and theres no real negative to use it. pandora, theres insane penalties for using it. I think its brilliant. Hell in the pandora demonstration with seth, he couldnt kill a full life character DUMMY with pandora zangief. I mean he could have if he was a little quicker, but that was vs a dummy. now think about how hard it will be vs someone with halfway decent defense? its an absolute last resort.

Scott seth really didn’t go into detail about how it works other that at 25% life you can kill off that character to power up your next. Gief did a fierce spd and ex spd and left lili with 5-10% life… now lets say your character has 50% health when I get my 25%. I can kill that character in 1 combo lol. He also didn’t say if you can combo into pandora mode or not. Yoshi has that EX breath that stuns then go into pandora mode and tag in somebody that hits like a mack truck aka kazuya. I’m pretty sure there will be 70% combos if you got the right team which makes pandora mode pretty silly. It may not be a “comeback factor” but it will kill you when you have hella life. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to get hit with a basic 5 hit bnb and know that if I put my opponent into pandora potential I can lose in 1 combo. Why you think the super bar doesn’t go down lol. Some of these characters gonna do 50% by themselves no pandora =[.

If I can combo into pandora you can’t run from anything. Which is the issue I’m having with seth’s vague details during that brief walkthrough. I see people playing like T6 and dropping a combo before you leave your opponent with 25%. That way the next time you combo them you can kill and don’t have to worry about pandora.

I think the implement of Pandora mode is pretty exciting. It’s actually very similar to the Rage mode in T6 in the sense that you are giving your opponent 2 options. Either kill them immediately with a combo so they can’t take advantage of Rage/Pandora or take the risk of “giving” them the option to kill you in one combo despite your health. And about comboing into Pandora, that means you have to be reliant on it. What if you don’t have the right character out? Not everyone can stun like Yoshi. You will have to be playing around with under 25% health which is already a huge risk to you in this game, just so you can use Pandora. It will be interesting to see the strategies and decision making players have for this.

Did people say the same thing when SF4 came out and ultras were announced?

SF4 was different since ultra’s don’t deplete over time or kill you. But ppl didn’t like getting hit with them thats for sure lol. Plus ultras in vanilla hurt a lot. I think pandora mode is going to be good. No reason for them to put in a mode thats going to be ass and not useful. I would only use it if I could combo into it though. lighting up pandora randomly would be dumb lol since it only last 8 seconds. Like any other team game synergy plays a big role (safe tags, free mixups, max damage juggles etc) so it will be interesting to see what teams pandora works best for.
