The game is far more popular in the arcades overseas! Also they needed to update the game because there was a stupid glitch with unblockable attacks with tag assault combos that did stupid damage thanks to Hwoarang the original Bob lol
Yeah, I only follow Tekken casually, but there were apparently some issues in TTT2 (and I heard rumors that it was still lagging behind T6 slightly in terms of arcade popularity?) that needed to get addressed, so a free update isn’t too unexpected. The addition of the option to play solo is pretty cool.

Honestly, Dante fits that team better because his assists benefit Vergil and X-23 moreso than Zero’s. Zero has really situational assists that only really help in combos, not so much in the neutral game. Still, I played Zero-Vergil for a good amount of time and they work well together, Ryuenjin lets Vergil get a full combo off of any ground throw or naked Helmet Breaker. And if you’re in the corner, Zero Rekkouha DHC into Vergil Spiral Swords combo is really sexy to watch and will also probably put you over 1 mil if you play your cards right. The issue is that you have no neutral game assist on that team. Zero’s and X-23’s are pure combo extension assists (barring the occasional unblockable setup), and Vergil Rapid Slash, while okay, isn’t as good as a projectile assist or any of the other strong assists in the game. Dante Weasel Shot or Jam Session will at help out a lot more in starting combos rather than continuing them, and it’ll make the team more cohesive.
On an unrelated note, I watched Chris G’s Xiaoyu and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna pair her with Lili. Xiaoyu’s tag cancel pressure is so sick, and it’s stylish as hell.
._. I don’t even use Neutral game assists. I never really used my assists to extend combos until I started practicing with Vergil some more. I use crystal for dante’s assist now. I used to use Jam session. The reason I wanted to use Zero was the fact that I changed my “pad” settings and can’t bold move with Dante as easily as I could before. I’d use other characters except I don’t really like a lot of characters. “Megaman” Zero is the whole reason I even like Zero so that’s why I wanted to try him out. I think I may just stick with Dante seeing as how I’ve stuck with him since the day vanilla came out.
Gotta get something to put on the screen. Goes a long way to making any one of the three characters you’re currently playing more dangerous. It’s why I pre-emptively dropped Haggar when Ultimate hit, then dropped Wesker after further experimentation.
Obviously, there’s all the usual suspects (Hawkeye, Doom, Strider etc.), but don’t rule out more outlier-type guys like Firebrand, Chris, Frank, Nova, etc.
