everybody is invited!!!
I’ll try to be there. I’m determined to make this modok business work.
Madcatz SCV stick looks bad to the ass! Anyone planning on playing SCV when it comes out?
Oh shit, Phoenix jump H looks like Zero jump H! I think I found a new team.
not sure if…trolling…
I fucking love Eegees, and it literally IS why tucson > phoenix. Other than that though, I take Luey’s position. I appreciate when phoenix drives down to give us some games, and I’m glad yall are so inviting to us.
That aside, I’m starting to pick up marvel. I have a team and whatnot, but was wondering what the best way to really start leveling up my game is. SHould i grind combos? Or just start playing.
Nick, grind bnb’s out in training. Some characters, it takes time to get them down, 2nd nature, due to the length of some combos. Then after that, start playing people. That’s what I do with marvel and other combo crazy games
the best way to play marvel is to mash unsafe moves at inappropriate times with strong characters and hope it connects. Its also a good idea to forgo any thought making process close your eyes and hit buttons, so in theory, tuscon should be amazing at marvel…
Good games to everyone last night, good to see the two new guys show up (sorry can’t remember names!) but nice to meet you two, hopefully you can make it out to the hazbats, you definitely won’t regret it =).
Hello everyone. I briefly scanned the thread to find out where local matches are held… couldn’t find anything.

Building on what Scott and Luey have said:
-You’ll find that a lot of unsafe things in this game are easier for your opponent to just throw out there than it is for you to punish them. Marvel is not a “wait for the opportunity and punish” style of game, it’s a “put them in a position where they have to block and eventually they’ll break” kind of game. As such, you’ll see a lot of strategies that look really braindead on the outside, where people keep doing the same thing over and over again until it works, and when it does, they go into a full combo.
-Practice your BnBs. This game contains significantly less “turns” than SF does, and at its peak each player can win with 3 combos. If you don’t have your combos down pat and it takes you 8 or 9 combos to win while your opponent only needs 4 or 5, you’re essentially giving your opponent more health and you’ll be at a constant disadvantage. Due to the lengths of the combos in this game, I would say about 60% of the time in-game is spent with one player comboing the other, 10% is the cinematics and stuff, and only 30% is the actual neutral “footsies” game.
-Be ready for X-Factor comebacks. They’re gonna piss you off, but they’re part of the game and so be ready to run when your opponent pops X-Factor.

different depending on the week and such. just check the boards from time to time, Luminare, Angelic, Shazam, and BirdQueer have games at there places from time to time. Also it depends on what game your looking to practice…
also Arnol(D) = GIANT BiRD QueeR…
Thanks for all your help guys. Grinding combos atm. HOpefully in the months to come I’'ll be worth something in this game. I’m gonna play in the hazbat next week, but my lack of experience is really gonna show.
What team are you playing?
Team building is suuuuper important.
