Wacky theory- Bolin dies. In dying breath he laments working for a zealous cause. Lava bending becomes a lost art. Bittersweet end.

Not gonna happen, though. The worst thing that will happen to Bolin is that his love life will be screwed again, but considering what’s happened the last 3 seasons, I’d just call that the status quo.

@d3v‌ I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but you completely avoided my question. Zuko said himself in episode 2 that he must stop these 4 new guys because they are a threat to the avatar…so again this strongly implies that Amon and the dark avatar were no threat to Korra which we know to be false so why didn’t he try to protect her then?

Also your response strongly implies that a dark avatar bringing 10,000 years of darkness is not a threat to the other nations lol, yes I’m sure the other nations would be perfectly cool with that. Even Amon and his army were a threat to all other nations if they were successful in taking down Korra permanently.

On episode 7 so far loving the season especially Bolin, but the objective gaping plot hole with Zuko still stands. Also I’m curious to see how they explain why Tonrock and Zuko are so easily getting their asses handed to them when they were the ones who originally defeated the 4 and out them in prison you would think your opponent being imprisoned and malnourished for 13 years would give a tiny advantage lol.

Korra never had an end goal that the Last Airbender had with the fire nation. Each season has been it’s own self contained threats so in this case I don’t think it’s necessary to have a threat that’s larger than the last two seasons. It just seemed like an endless cycle when the focus should be more about bringing things to a close.

Spoiler

There are some themes introduced in episode 4 with taking the ideologies of previous villains and executing them in a better manner. Kouvuria represents another ideology that Korra can use to unify the nations so everything is fitting together. In that aspect I don’t think it’s necessary to have another powerful threat. Plus I still think Varryk’s research in Spirit energy is going to have huge repercussions that’ll require Korra to deal with.

My memory is a bit fuzzy with season 2 but by the time the Dark Avatar showed up wouldn’t it have been too late for the other nations to take action? Korra pretty much handled that shit immediately.

I highly doubt Bolin will actively take down Zaofu unless he was duped. And I’d say impossible if he’s going up against his own brother, let alone anybody he knows. The ONLY way possible I could see Bolin helping Kuvira when they’re at Zaofu is if Kuvira made him believe Zaofu attacked them and they’re retaliating or something along those lines. Most likely, Bolin will be hesitant to do anything at Zaofu and if Kuvira were to attack first, Bolin will defect and go back to team Avatar.

As far as Zuko, how much did he know? You act as if he’s been up to date with everything. When does Korra find out about Unalaq’s real plans and when can word come out?

I doubt Bolin would attack Zafou for any reason. His girlfriend is a from Zafou their relationship is already soured with him working for Kuriva. Being apart of the attack will kill the relationship. It definitely damage his relationship with the rest of the group.

No one could react with Unalaq. That civil war made everyone not want to interfere because they saw it as another water tribe civil war. No one knew unalaqs plan but Korra and she didn’t know he was going to fuse with Vaatu at first either

you know what, for some reason I don’t even think Bolin has seen the rough side of Kovira. He’s been all about ‘we help people!’. I don’t remember if he even acknowledged the times Kuvira has used force, or maybe he just brushed it off in a one-liner. i think when he realizes he’s expected to attack zaofu, he defects to team avatar.

That’s most likely intentional by Kuvira. You think it’s coincidental she chose Suyin’s son as a fiancee and a personal friend of Korra’s to have as a close allie? Bolin isn’t just another solder. Kuvira talks to him all the time. She wants to show him all the benifits and the good side of her plans.

Bolin is a minor celebrity and as far as we know the only Lavabending practitioner around. She can use his charisma and fame to recruit people and his lavabending makes him a powerhouse by default and almost unapproachable shield.

The point is THEY DIDN’T KNOW. Until the very last moment, where “Unavaatu” actually appeared in Yue Bay, the only people aware of their plans were Korra and the Krew. Up to that point, nobody wanted to get involved in what they saw as an internal Water Tribe affair.

In any case, Korra settled that problem in the same night, so even if any of the nations had wanted to mobilize, there wouldn’t have been enough time to do so.

Tonraq abd Zuko were only part of the group. Other members of the White Lotus, including Sokka (and probably Katara as well) and Unalaq were also involved, so it wasn’t just those two who took them out the first time. Also…

Spoiler

Unalaq was originally part of the Red Lotus as well until their plans went against his. It’s not hard to imagine that he used his own knowledge of their plans against them to set them up.

The second time around, they’re only backup were the twins who Min Hua is able to deal with easily, so by the time she gets the P’Li out, Tonraq and Zuko are outnumbered.

Also, regarding them being in prison, it seems that, outside of being in places that prevented their bending, they were most likely well fed and taken care off. At the very least, we see Ghazan working out and able to stay in shape.

…BETRAYAL!

[details=Spoiler]Zhu Li, NO! Come back!

Anyway Kuvira’s getting worse, Korra still has no resolve, Bolin is an idiot for realizing too late, idk where this Asami plotline is going and VARRICK! NO NOT THE THING![/details]

[spoiler=]Zhu Li betrayal wasn’t surprising to me at all. She should have thrown him under the bus a long time ago. Having her order Kuvira’s guards to do the thing had me laughing.

I wonder how Asami’s subplot will tie into everything. It’s great that she’s finally getting attention after virtually being ignored in the last two books.[/spoilers]

ITS ABOUT TO GO DOWN!

Spoiler

Is pretty goddamn obvious that Zhu Li is doing this as a plan to escape when the best moment comes, at least it is what i think.

Now, during this chapter i can only feel annoyed on how Kuvira acts, it is amazing how sympathetic Zaheer is in contrast to Kuvira, with him you wanted to success in almost everything (minus killing Korra)
With Kuvira you only want to see her going down.

[spoiler=]There’s got to be more to Kuvira’s back story. The way it’s said in this episode isn’t convincing enough. For the most part, it seemed the people were happy living in Metal City. Now Kuvira wants to “save” the rest of the nation? That one disagreement caused such a huge rift? Really?

I thought it’d be interesting if it was Baatar who was brainwashing Kuvira. Doesn’t seem like it’ll go down that way though.[/spoiler]

Spoiler

Not gonna lie, I’d be MORE surprised if Zhu Li was legit joining Kuvira. Also, lol at that G.I. Joe style censor (ship blows up, cobra parachutes down because you can’t show them die) with Bolin, where he lava bended and then you saw the guys get out the suit.

[details=Spoiler] Zhu Li “betraying” Varrick will probably lead her to monitor Varrick which will turn into another escape attempt. Those mechs are pretty mobile from the way they look.

Korra is gonna have to bite down and go back into her old ways to save Suyin. Kuvira is probably gonna stomp Suyin out while giving her a lecture. Overall a decent episode. I hope the Asami sub story goes somewhere. [/details]

When varrick’s mech head piece started flipping out, I was dying.

[details=Spoiler]Zhu Li’s betrayal probably has more to do with her wanting to get back at Varrick for all the crap she’s been put through. I don’t recall any moments where Zhu Li’s kokoro was going doki-doki whenever Kuvira was around. I think Varrick will get back with Zhu Li near the end of the season after he apologizes to her. He’s definitely going to notice her not being around lol

I like how Kuvira’s army has those metal shoulder plates and how Kuvira can use them against anyone wearing them. Kind of an ingenious way to punish anyone who falls out of line.[/details]

Spoiler

Seeing how much SW elements are on this seasson, i wouldn’t be surprised if they made so she could have some form of Force choke

[spoiler=]I get the feeling that Asami’s subplot is meant to serve as a contrast to Suyin’s eldest son. Asami is doing everything in her power to restore her family’s name after her father fucked it up by aiding the equalists. Baatar Jr is willing to steamroll what he’s parents have worked for to make a name for himself.[/spoiler]
