Mako probably picked up lightning redirection probably before he became a probender. We know that the brothers have had a history with the gangs and we know that those bender gangs have people able to generate lightning. So it wouldn’t be a stretch for him to learn it as a means of survival when it’s used against him or if someone taught him it to help him out.
This is what I’m stating. I doubt he taught it to himself though as Iroh learned it through watching master waterbenders and how they redirect their opponents energy.
so i’m thinking of putting together a lil stunt thing for an anime con next year using korra vs some chi blockers. can someone tell me, when a chi blocker stops a bender is their whole arm/limb imobable or is it usable and the bendng isnt?
Immobile if it’s the same as Ty Lee’s stuff. Dat noodle stance

From what I remember when Mako and Korra fought them the first time, their limbs are mobile but they cant bend.
Also does anyone else think General Iroh is going to teach Mako how to fire bend better? I have a feeling the whole teaching arc is coming up early next season and theres no evidence that Zuko is even on his way to Republic City.
As far as I can tell, Asami has had the highest Equalist frag count ever since she got introduced, kicking ass left and right.
Mustache man hasn’t won a fight since him vs the brothers.
Also, Asami’s mom is crazy hot.
Yes she was quite delicious.
Now i see where Asami gets it from.
I cry for Lin and her bending. I knew a character in the cast would probably lose their bending but why did it have to be her? At least she went out strong
I really am loving this. The story has great pacing and continuously gets more intense. Now that I’m all caught up I crave for next weekend to hurry up and get here.
Also, Lin is beyond Brock Sampson level of bad ass. She makes Chuck Norris look like a bitch.
She’s my Hero.
Shows s fierce!
Depends on where they strike. They can attacks chakra points along the limbs and torso JUST to impede bending, or they can target nerve clusters and pressure points to deaden limbs. Either way, these are some muthafuckers you don’t want to go toe-to-toe with. You parry a faked strike, and next thing you know, tap to inside of your forearm, tap to your shoulder, that arm no longer works. Or worse, a couple strikes to your diaphragm, torso muscles lock up, and suddenly you can’t breathe.
CARTOONS. We have some real women outside!
Yeah, we noticed that. We’re not substituting. We just like hot women (who, unlike real life, aren’t total bitches with daddy-issues) in our cartoons.
At first I tought Mako generated now watching it again he redirected.
Korra still hasn’t bend Air or anything close not even a fart.
Just watched the new episode and it was great but…
Spoiler
…please tell me I’m not the only one that laughed when General Iroh started talking. The voice just doesnt match the way the character looks IMO
I thought the same about the woman delivering Pema’s baby.

(I’m rather glad that last episode recorded on the other DVR yesterday since I was under the impression that a new episode wasn’t coming on yesterday due to the Season Finale commercial coming last weekend but no new episode trailer. I would have been pissed.)
Merciless Ares, this thread has become a huge clusterfuck of Wild Mass Guessing in the last 3 pages between last weekend and this weekend due to everyone engaging Subt-L. Not that’s anything necessarily wrong with that, especially when specs is correct in that you can almost never rule out anything 100%, even things that would totally be stupid to the plot; for the record, I don’t count a “double” Avatar as one of things, especially since Azula killed Aang momentarily & fucked up the cycle, Aang never really completed his completed his training with Swami “Heart” guy and then he got his chakra/Avatar state back kinda forcibly when fighting Ozai. So…it’s…possible.
Just kinda weird to see WMG play out in “real time” for once, though.
Anyway, with regards to this episode, there’s very little that hasn’t been said. So I’ll just briefly gush over Tenzin & Lin being (sexy) beasts and Lin’s sacrifice.
“Tenzin! Lin! Lin, no!”
There.
I’ll just be “brief” and respond to this page for now since I have things to do.
So much wrong here.
First, you mean Mako and he’s only been electrocuted like…twice, maybe thrice tops, before this, all of them being by surprise. Hell, one of them was immediately after he had physically exerted himself in three rounds of a pro-bending match against cheaters, had fallen from a rather tall platform into water and was still in the water. So you’ll have to excuse him for not being at his best and not redirecting it then.
The chi-blockers were always “goons”, so they’re hardly been nerfed. They’ve been competent, but they tend to rely on numbers, which is why at least one or two them of have always been taken out before swarming over someone unless they outright take them by surprise. It usually helps that Amon usually appears alongside them a lot of the time, so even if they all get taken out, like against Tarrlok, they still appear better being right next to his currently unstoppable ass.
The same goes for Mustache Guy (who still really needs a name). He generally wins by taking people by surprise, though he’s a bit more competent. At the same time, he tends to get taken down harder because he tends to attack alone. Well, that and you notice when he gets taken down since he looks different from all the other lackies who are faceless, only really varying in height (if that).
They’re still real threats or else Tenzin wouldn’t have almost been captured and Lin & a bunch of other people wouldn’t have been captured at all and sent to Amon, even with the mechs.
Basically, all your complaints in the first paragraph can be handled by the good guys are actually prepared for them now, unlike earlier in the season, especially since said goons are attacking out in the open.
As for the ropes comment, uh, getting tied up usually isn’t the only thing that happens to people. They’re usually simultaneously a) pummeled & chi-blocked or b) electrocuted. In addition to that, even in the first series, very few people were able to get out of being tied up by themselves. Iroh and Aang are the only people the come to mind and they still had trouble; it just doesn’t seem to be something that anyone trains for, especially when bending involves at least some movement for most people, that movement usually being big, sweeping movements. Hell, Azula lost to being tied up (and having a mental breakdown) even though everyone knows how busted she is/was.
No. I was trying to block it out, thank you very much.
Yeah, the voice seems a bit young for the character, but the character might be even younger than he already looks, so who knows. Some people have voices that are rather jarringly different to how they look, even (read: especially) in real life, so I wouldn’t make too much of it; hell, I think that Dante Basco’s natural voice and he’s like…mid-30s now I think, so…
I laughed more because General Iroh looks more like a golden-eyed young George Takei. If he says “oh my” at any point in time, I think I will lose my shit.
(I then laughed even harder when Rhio2k called him General Mustang the 2nd.)
Thats a very good point that honestly Im surprised I never thought of. Amon and his goons are chi-blockers, why did the thought of him simply blocking their chi never cross my mind. Anyway, that was an intense episode, Im hoping lin doesn’t lose her bending since she is such a boss, but if she actually does lose it permanently, least she went out like a true bei-fong, toph would be proud to say the least. And that reveal at the end left my grinning from ear to ear, I had even forgotten dante basco had a voice in this show but when I saw the general from behind I was half expecting to see a scar on his face when the camera panned up because he was so obviously zuko’s descendant.
Can’t wait for next weeks episode, hopefully they wrap and explain everything that happened well and give us a dope finale.
And Oh shit, just looked up dante basco on wikipedia, turns out he played rufio in the robin williams peter pan movie, the more you know…
(Damn it. Late already. Why am I so dilatory?)
Still, I have time to ask this, if only because I’m way too curious.
Uh, why?
I mean, I can guess, but it’s not like I search Tumblr to begin with, now you’ve only made me want to look more…
^Yeah, that’s Aang’s grandson. Just wanted to echo what Damned said about the Equalist mooks. So far they’ve been swarming on ninjas like killer bees. That, or just flat out ambushing people after they’ve already exhausted themselves fighting a dozen other mooks. At least they’re smarter than your average mooks, who just stand around while politely waiting their turn to get curb-stomped by the heroes… Which makes Moustache Guy’s jobbing look even worse by comparison.
Although he tends to take on people that are out of his league like Korra or Lin one-on-one, so that’s another contributing factor to his losses. That Naga one-shot I can’t really defend him on, however, lol.
