(I’m rather glad that last episode recorded on the other DVR yesterday since I was under the impression that a new episode wasn’t coming on yesterday due to the Season Finale commercial coming last weekend but no new episode trailer. I would have been pissed.)
Merciless Ares, this thread has become a huge clusterfuck of Wild Mass Guessing in the last 3 pages between last weekend and this weekend due to everyone engaging Subt-L. Not that’s anything necessarily wrong with that, especially when specs is correct in that you can almost never rule out anything 100%, even things that would totally be stupid to the plot; for the record, I don’t count a “double” Avatar as one of things, especially since Azula killed Aang momentarily & fucked up the cycle, Aang never really completed his completed his training with Swami “Heart” guy and then he got his chakra/Avatar state back kinda forcibly when fighting Ozai. So…it’s…possible.
Just kinda weird to see WMG play out in “real time” for once, though.
Anyway, with regards to this episode, there’s very little that hasn’t been said. So I’ll just briefly gush over Tenzin & Lin being (sexy) beasts and Lin’s sacrifice.
“Tenzin! Lin! Lin, no!”
There.
I’ll just be “brief” and respond to this page for now since I have things to do.
So much wrong here.
First, you mean Mako and he’s only been electrocuted like…twice, maybe thrice tops, before this, all of them being by surprise. Hell, one of them was immediately after he had physically exerted himself in three rounds of a pro-bending match against cheaters, had fallen from a rather tall platform into water and was still in the water. So you’ll have to excuse him for not being at his best and not redirecting it then.
The chi-blockers were always “goons”, so they’re hardly been nerfed. They’ve been competent, but they tend to rely on numbers, which is why at least one or two them of have always been taken out before swarming over someone unless they outright take them by surprise. It usually helps that Amon usually appears alongside them a lot of the time, so even if they all get taken out, like against Tarrlok, they still appear better being right next to his currently unstoppable ass.
The same goes for Mustache Guy (who still really needs a name). He generally wins by taking people by surprise, though he’s a bit more competent. At the same time, he tends to get taken down harder because he tends to attack alone. Well, that and you notice when he gets taken down since he looks different from all the other lackies who are faceless, only really varying in height (if that).
They’re still real threats or else Tenzin wouldn’t have almost been captured and Lin & a bunch of other people wouldn’t have been captured at all and sent to Amon, even with the mechs.
Basically, all your complaints in the first paragraph can be handled by the good guys are actually prepared for them now, unlike earlier in the season, especially since said goons are attacking out in the open.
As for the ropes comment, uh, getting tied up usually isn’t the only thing that happens to people. They’re usually simultaneously a) pummeled & chi-blocked or b) electrocuted. In addition to that, even in the first series, very few people were able to get out of being tied up by themselves. Iroh and Aang are the only people the come to mind and they still had trouble; it just doesn’t seem to be something that anyone trains for, especially when bending involves at least some movement for most people, that movement usually being big, sweeping movements. Hell, Azula lost to being tied up (and having a mental breakdown) even though everyone knows how busted she is/was.
No. I was trying to block it out, thank you very much.
Yeah, the voice seems a bit young for the character, but the character might be even younger than he already looks, so who knows. Some people have voices that are rather jarringly different to how they look, even (read: especially) in real life, so I wouldn’t make too much of it; hell, I think that Dante Basco’s natural voice and he’s like…mid-30s now I think, so…
I laughed more because General Iroh looks more like a golden-eyed young George Takei. If he says “oh my” at any point in time, I think I will lose my shit.
(I then laughed even harder when Rhio2k called him General Mustang the 2nd.)
