What is the file type you are uploading?

I’m using a .gif under 150kb. I’ll upload it to an external host here in a second just for example.

Those are premium member restrictions, regular members should be 50k but that avatar is around 40k bitmap. Maybe it’s a GIF problem?

Just tried updating my avatar to this

But when I upload from the HD it just loads my current av (yellow smiley). When I use a url the new av appears to be added, but as soon as I hit refresh my old av is back.

EDIT: I just tried again, deleted my current av. Instead of visiting my profile page I just tried uploading an new av (using url link) from here and it worked!

This issue is still ongoing. I tried to delete avatar today and reupload, still shows the old avatar and wont animate. My premium I bought to upload the bigger old avatar has run out now. :sad:

Personally, I just resize mine when they don’t take, it’s recommended to be at least 200X200, I’m not sure if you can resize a gif though. Maybe find one in a different size?

I tried changing my gif again, can’t get it to work unless I signed out, deleted my cookies and logged in again.

You can resize a gif. Photoshop man. I make these things myself.

I think I know how to get it working.

#1 upload your gif to a image host
#2 Go to your avatar page and delete current avatar
#3 Click Choose file
#4 Paste link in open file window
#5 Click choose file again
#6 This time your temporary internet files folder should visable
#7 Copy the address to your temporary internet folder, open my computer, find your temp folder by paste link.
#8 Delete all files inside, you will need to go one level up to the parent folder and delete any temporary files there too.
#9 Log out of SRK, delete SRK’s cookies and log back in
#10 Cross fingers, Upload avatar

Not having any luck with that either.
I’ve deleted my avatar and am now trying to upload a standard .jpg (below) but its still showing the old broken avatar.

Edit: After relogging into SRK the new .jpg shows up. I’m gonna sit on this one for a while because I’m getting frustrated trying to make the .gifs work.

The struggle continues. Whatever I do, it just shows me my old avatar, even if I delete it. If I fail to meet the restrictions, it won’t even let me attempt to upload, so that’s not an issue.

Edit - It worked after posting here. Clearly this thread is the key.
