Janks with the combos.

The first time, I literally said “Whoa what the fuck is this shit!” Impressive.

Iceball is making it hard to use any normal characters, except Jimmy. Everyone else are susceptible to bad trades. Trading with ice = bad.

I use iceball and the command grab. Zangief and Ryu in one character! Dangerous from anywhere on the screen.

I really like to play rushdown with iceball and flying kick. I stay in your face while getting the most out of all my combos. I sometimes play super throw to keep you on your toes and it provides some oki for me.

Yea, been playing this a bit recently. Seems like more people playing it than usual. There are a good number of people playing that have lots of wins, and actually know what they’re doing, but they must not want to be challenged. I run into a guy today with 250+ wins and 18 losses, and he’s solid, but after only 2 matches (losses for him) he’s done. That shit seems rampant online in even this game. Gotta keep that W/L ratio pretty. I guess.

There’s been a few people on like that recently, IMO, if they’re that solid, they should want to fight even if its losses for them. You cant pick up stuff if you quit after a match.

Anyways, since I will finally be having local game night off, I will see what I can do locally for this game. Also I have a quick video with a Ryan, Mike, and Cyndi combo that I will be making tomorrow. It wont be much, but others being able to see some of matches, and combos possible, and tech going on, more people might play it as a side game at the least. We need also to make a tech video. Normally I am against tuts/giving people knowledge for free, because I’m old school, had to figure out combos in training mode, or VS, but for something like this, people will need to see whats actually going when certain things are done, or why they’re done. Say for instance, you get a corner knockdown with Bill, anyone who knows this game is going get up with an instant backdash, because you cant grab, and can be punished of grab whiff. Randoms might not know that. In that situation, you’re giving yourself a sort of ‘tech roll’ against getting grabbed in the corner. But, Bills particular s.LK, will hit you out of the dackdash, and you will flip into an air command grab, effectively a tech catch. This is something people might not even know is actually happening on this level.

Yea, I abused Bill’s Oki game. Everyone who tries to backdash usually eats a shoulder charge loop. I usally like to go for whiff Super Throws as not everyone reacts fast enough to hurt the armor.

Nothing major added, just small stuff

fixed rushing combo, twitching after being blocked
riseup headbutt is strong
pounce attack back to being invincible
twin orbs, less recovery
invincibility doesn’t get extra cooldown if used while falling
ball charge is a little slower (dunno if it fixes infinite… i could never do it :P)
iceball can still be blocked when you have no life left
lobby score bug fixed
fixed crash related to standby and trying to do browse for games or something then canceling with B button
changed move selection in the demo a little bit

I didn’t end up nerfing the super throw on rise up since it looked like it should still be hitting, and i didn’t want to animate a miss animation. Maybe next time

I like the tech video idea, I wonder if something like that could end up on the front page :slight_smile: It’d been a while since the last SRK AFO story

Been fighting the top 10 a bit recently.

Anyway the vids are going to be on hold, nothing that people in this thread shouldnt know anyway. I gotta get my PS2 controller shit working for combos. Keep having to redo combos, gonna make editing harder to do. But I might be able to make a rudimentary tech video, since crazy combos wont be needed, I can use 360 pad.

2 things about patch.

Is ball going to SUCK? Taking away the infinite is one thing, but if you cant punish with, or it doesnt connect after sweep, OR you cant empty roll on stand/oki on knockdown because its too slow, it becomes a useless move.

Jumping attacks need looked at. Opponents are at advantage on landing on all but the most meaty jump-ins. It could remain an AFO eccentric thing, but some could not like being hit if they go for an air to ground block string.

Ball wont be that slow, i think the difference is like 3 extra frames on the light version, 5 on the heavy… maybe I should’ve left the heavy version alone to keep those corner combos intact

Maybe i’ll just have to reduce the hang time on the jumpkicks, tried fixing them before after yadamon kept canceling the blockstun into a easy shoulder charge counter

I played about 3 minutes with 1.3b. Just to see the changes. Also ball corner combos are still in.

Ill need to get new mic so I can set the tech video up, because I’ll need the other player to make situtations happen, ect. Gonna try to get this streamed next thursday at arcade legacy, or see if it can be in the weekly tourney lineup, and see if theres interest for Rocket Punch 3.

Ugh somehow looks like the lobby score bug is still there. Next version I’ll just disable the scores in lobby mode. I give up on it :I

Desk having made a video on this will make it about 209737836 times easier to get streamed, and played

I Haven’t been on AFO a lot these days…But I finally got on and notice there are a lot more better players now. Which means day by day the game is getting more popular.

@MrBrian If you ever decide to make additional move set or specials, let me know…Mr Janks and I was discussing some fantastic moves that can be added.
