VG - yo seriously u should just pick this up… It’s not that hard. IF you have good ideas, just a little patience will do… you just need photoshop with image ready and you’re all set
I can hook you up with sites with sprites and from there just open it in image ready and you’ll figure out how to do it. just try, it’s mad fun and feels like you accomplished something. Also you learn how to use these very good programs.

Thanks for the comments on the Think Easier thing, I actually just copied the commercial verbatim, took every scene from it and recreated it, along with the timings for the most part. It was really simple to make, had no actual joke in it, and the only tough thing was getting the size down. When I showed it to one of my friends, I said, “I think it’s good but there isn’t a joke” and I knew I probably wouldn’t win but I thought I’d still submit it just to see how well it would do~

The best in show IMHO. Granted it is a bit off as Chibi suggested, but I don’t think it’s quite as much as MC commented about. Nice view of the ass, The font was good even though it was not exactly like the logo. There was a bit of a problem with people asking that the font blended in, but me being a minimalist, I love the colour choice. It might blend it, but it suits the whole av scheme. Had a differnet outline colour been used for the font, it would have taken away from the focus of the other non-blue areas, namely Felecia, the Combos font and bag. Had I suggest anything it would be to make the actual “flavours” to be different colours…however that would mean having to change the BG and rework the entire colour scheme. But it’s the best of the best IMHO.

It’s perfect had it not been for the levitation looking effect on the reflection. I don’t know how to quite deal with that aside with moving the reflection up…but then again it’ll just kinda fuck it up. But yes, good use of space and funny. Colour is good, however if white was used for the BG, it might not even need a reflection and it might be more tradtional “lean artsy” CK.

I generally hate leet speak as comedy (aside from me using it a bit extremely on my IM converesations). I felt that it kinda brought the idea down a wee bit because of the it. Sure I use leet speak as well, but mainly OMFG, or WTF. However once again GGXX’s lack of animation frames kinda hampers the process, but considering the theme, ideas is what’s more important than the quality of execution and Quiche has a great idea here. Love the animation on the blood fart but the For a woman font was a bit fuzzy. Nice addition of the blood font, however I felt it could have worded it differently. As Chibi stated, the BG colour brings it down a bit, then again most Secret ads don’t have a BG, just white or some domestic home. But good job.

Random Ken hate is always good, and this one was pretty good. I disagree with some of the comments made how the blood should had kept on dripping, since in someways that would defeat the purpose of the Swiffer being able to pick everything up. And had the blood kept on dripping he’d have to extend the ending a bit longer for the animation to kinda sink in.

You know it did take a bit of Chibi’s comments to make me realize how well done this av is. But still when it comes down to it, you have to wonder what makes this specifically special to this contest. Sure it’s animated well, but you have to think…had you taken out Slayer out, the ad would basically still continue on with little to no problems. I think what’s most needed in the contest such as this, is the subject being vital to the part of the message of the advertisement. That’s where the idea and ingeniuty comes because you’re able to manipulate a character to be the message, not just have it there along side the message.
Other qualms were the font and it was generally boring but I love the blurred font effect. In fact I would love to learn that effect very much.

There’s not much I can say about this. Nice use of the panties shot although it doesn’t seem to go well at all with it. Mainly because of the fact that Jam does not have a reaction in the av, it’s just so tacked on. Compared to the combos av, you could actually imagine that Felecia is happy to promote/get her paws on/enjoys to eat the combos, but with Jam it’s meh. The font could have been moved to a more pleasing space and the BG could have used something a bit softer, perhaps a silk pattern or something, but other than that, it’s pretty good.

This av goes to show that it’s ideas that are sometimes more important than the quality of the execution. I found this to be boring considering that this had been done to death but this time with Pocket Fighters. The animation is a bit jerky, especially when it came to the arm being morphed into the Nike symbol. I do wish that more time was spent on morphing it as well the timing of the morph itself and the final shot. It seems all to go by so fast with no time to absorb it all in and I think that’s why kinda brings it down.
Had there was more time spent on the Symbol morph, it would have negated the boring attributes of the Daigo parry. I like it in different incanations (Quiche’s Popeye one comes to mind) but Pocket Fighter sprites aren’t nearly enough a deviation from the source idea to feel like something new or something different.

For some reason I like the colour scheme of this very much. It’s nice, the BG fits the BK symbol well, as well with the cheque and Spiral. But other than that, there’s not much to really comment on. The thing is it basically an in joke as well with a poor connection with the BK symbol and the cheque. The font of the cheque needed some work of course to accomodate the proper perspective.

In an contest about ideas, mine basically failed to meet the requirement. It was in jokish as RN commented upon. In fact I did want Kain to say “I slept with Rosa”, but SRK juvenile humour go the best of me and “Do her up the butt” took over my better judgement. Once again this was supposed to be longer, I was about to have Kain, Cecil and Rosa kept running while the dialogue took place, but as you can see, for space contraints I made it into a “Pause” screen.
I originally wanted to start out with Cecil’s overworld character walking along the grass then have a random encounter in traditional FF blurry style. Additionally I wanted Cecil and Rosa arguing at the end with Kain finally returning from his Jump attack to hit Cecil. Even had I fit those ideas in, it still wouldn’t have made it the better av out of these ones because the message itself was not part of the advertisement. It seemed more like a FF battle av in general, than an advertisement. The end part was tacked on even if it wasn’t intentional.
Had I changed it, I would have added some particles indication a sucking motion of the GBA. And perhaps a bit more to the Tellah taking in Edward, but as you can see it was a bit jerky to get some of the text to stay on longer. The text was intentionally fast because well…I just wanted a bit of comedic timing, but overall, it’s a good bad av.
I notice that I didn’t place my own av in the list in the last av battle. But in this case, I would imagine mine would fall between the Swiffer and Progessive avs overall. In regards to ideas, I’d think that Progressive is better since it was better executed overall.
But good job to everyone. It’s nice to see a turn out at least, and great ideas. Afterall I got 3rd in this contest, it goes to show that everyone is good. Here’s to the next one and I’d like to toss my hat in the ring to be a judge next time.

I’m not going to rank them but my favorite was the COMBOS av, it’s just really good and pretty clever also. The font is a bit small but it really couldn’t have been done any other way without taking away the focus from Felicia. I also like that the color scheme didn’t make it looks all mashed together but actually looked very good and even though the colors throughout were pretty close together (all the blues/lightblues/whites) it’s still perfectly readable and everything has a distinct border.

My favorite of the stills. DG, you did a stellar job on this one. What’s your obsession with Urien tho? The erflection was a bit too low, as everyone else pointed out, and teh CK logo is blury, but otherwise, it’s perfect. Of all of these, it looks the most like a real ad would. I’m glad this one took 1st.

Haha…I love FFIV and I know OC does too…despite the fact that he didn’t use his trademark font, I woulda spotted this as OC work a mile away. As someone else pointed out, teh animation runs a bit too fast in some parts (text at the end) and a bit too slow in others. Also, that GBA sprite is kinda fuggly. For 1 still sprite, I woulda made something a bit cleaner that didn’t look “re-sized”. Still, the joke was great and the number of frames was impressive. GJ!
Just Parry It
I agree that th full-parry avatar is kinda played out. I saw it with neogeo pocket color sprites. I MADE it with popeye characters. Doing it again with gem fighter sprites didn’t really do it for me. Still, ti did it for the judges, so congrats, SunocO!

Hmm…I spent a lot of work on this one. The animationw as choppy because of 2 things.
#1 - limitations of GGX sprites
#2 - filesize limits.
The filesize limitations are also why there’s no bg. I thought it was clear what was happening in this av, but I guess not, so I’ll explain it.
I always thought it was kinda goofy how the secret ads made sucha big deal out of their pH being “specially balanced” for women. I mean, men and women’s external pHs don’t really differ by much. So I thought I’d make fun of their hype by adding in the concept that if a man tries to use it, it blows his dick off. I don’t really regret using leet-speak, because I’m pretty sure that’s the way that Bridget would talk…
Swiffer Wet
I loved this one. It’s very similar to DG’s entry in the last contest, but it’s still an instant classic. ROFL!
Think Easier
Honestly, I thought this one was the best in show. The animation is incredible, and anyone who’s seen the progressive commercials would recognize it instantly. It’s EXACTLY like the normal commercials, but with Slayer! OMG!
Since the best in show votes were never really organized, I’m just gonna give 2 months each to DG and SunocO for their respective category wins.
