Not confirmed. He said he’d let me know within the near future.
Can you provide detailed rules concerning UMvC3 team order for the winning player? I for one like the rule EVO used: character and assist selection must be the same and performed in the same order on the character select screen, but the winning player may hold assist buttons to change his team order as the next match begins. UMvC Char order rule
Also, I’m pretty sure Alabama would be more than willing to give you a 5v5 if we can get enough of us up there.
I actually had the official EVO rule up there originally but I took it down because I wanted to think about it. “Winner must keep same starting character, but can switch the order of assists.”
It seemed kinda strange, but I see what EVO was going for after reading your link. Yes, that will be the rule for the ARK V Marvel tourney, MvC2 style. It will be updated as such shortly. Thanks for the heads up. Also, I’ll talk to Arkansas about doing the 5v5 with Alabama. I’m sure there will be interest. You guys coming for sure? I can see if I can arrange some housing for you guys. We always love seeing new faces.
I may or may not be able to make this one myself, but I can tell you that many players from Kansas City area are coming to play in this event.
Awesome! Thank you for the support! If you guys need housing, let us know and we’ll do our best!
We’re going to do our best to make sure everyone has a blast!
Yo, i’m one of the guys from the Missouri area, do you guys have a pretty decent size KOF scene down there? We got about 7 dedicated players in our area and was wondering if i should get my hopes up or not for some KOF.
The Arkansas KoF scene isn’t super strong at this point. However, Tennessee pretty much ONLY plays King of Fighters and we should have a lot of players coming in from Texas/Louisiana as well. If you’re looking for a good amount of players or good competition, we should have both. We have to look at preregistration numbers before we can for sure put down a pot bonus for King of Fighters, but we’re looking into it. Right now our budget is really slim right now with over $1000 coming out of our pockets just in bonus pot money. We definitely want to support all these games though.
Another MO player here and curious: does Arkansas have players interested in Persona? And how big are the MK and BB scenes?
Arkansas and Tennessee (among other neighboring states that we’ve been talking to) are in love with Persona. We will have a very strong Persona scene going by what people have been saying. I think it will be one of the bigger tournies personally.
The MK scene is pretty strong and very vocal. There are a lot of people that play it here, but I don’t know how we rank competitively compared to Texas or Louisiana or anything.
Everyone here has at least an appreciation of BlazBlue. The players here are strong, but the community itself is fragmented. I imagine it’s because everyone that wants to play BlazBlue lives like 3 hours away from the next person that wants to play BlazBlue.
I hope to have more info towards the tournament soon. We definitely want to have more pot bonuses for other games, but it depends on a lot of variables right now. We’re in contact with sponsors and bigger name players. Just have to see what fits everyone’s schedules. I hope everyone that comes has a great time. Please don’t hesitate to ask or request anything. We’re very hospitable (many would say to a fault) and we try to go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome.
Any idea on what the schedule will look like on Sunday? Basically just wondering what time everything ends so that I know whether I’ll need to call off for work on Monday too.
Also, anyone up for Virtua Fighter? >_>
Sorry it’s a work in progress. I’ve been doing some simulations; just seeing what’s the best for what we expect. It should be done within the next few days. How far is the drive from here to there? I expect the Finals for everything to be done around 8 PM but that’s a crude estimate.
Also, feel free to host a VF side-tourney during the afterparty on Saturday night. We can give you guys a bracket or whatever y’all need to get it going. I know a good amount of VF fans from Arkansas will be there.
Memphis is in there.
…? Considering this tourney in place of another!
Hey, if I can find enough people interested could there be a Melty Blood side tourney?
Sent ya a PM. Hope you’re able to make it!
You bet! Side tournies are always welcome. We should be able to print off an empty bracket if you guys need it to help facilitate the side tourney. The only thing we ask is that you save the side tourney for the afterparty so it doesn’t interfere with any of the main tournies. We’ll be on a tight schedule and (although we don’t want to and never have before) we’ll be forfeiting people who cause us to run tournies late. This includes those who are caught up in side tournies.
Sorry there’s not a schedule yet. Personal schedule’s super busy and I’m always out of town supporting the local communities doing things. It’ll be up very soon.
you should add VIrtua Fighter and P4 200@bonus over KOF booooooooooo!!
Made some updates and have some more info. The NUMBER 1 thing I will stress is for everyone to preregister online at www.arktourney.com/registration. This is VERY important for us so that we can make sure everyone is seeded correctly by region and to ensure that our tournaments are run ON TIME.
Updates:
- We are now sponsored by Verizon and Funimation. More sponsors to come!
- Updated the schedule. It is subject to change, although pretty much only if there is a scheduling conflict or if we believe the time allocated is not sufficient.
- We have switched over to a pool system which is modeled after those done by Evolution.
- If you are going to register ON SITE (I do not recommend this), your hours of registration are between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Saturday. If you do not register by this time, tournaments will have started and you will be assessed a late fee. Just preregister online to avoid this! By preregistering online, you do not have to show up until your pools start. We will factor in location into our pool assignments and try to ensure the people driving the furthest distance will have the latest pools (if possible). Please do not be late to your pools.
- Top 4 for KoF 13 and P4A, and Top 8 for AE and UMvC3 will be streamed by Interrupted Gaming with special help from Boom Gorillas. While we will try to ensure that all of these matches will be streamed, some matches (Loser’s Side ONLY) may be performed off stream if we are running low on time. PandaxGaming will be recording Top 4 for MK9, SG, BB, SC5, and SFxT. Top 4 for the non-streamed games will be run concurrently with the streamed Top4 / Top 8.
- I did some calculations on payout expected for AE and UMvC3. Assuming our numbers stay the same and turnout doesn’t grow from ARK IV (doubtful), Top 3 payout (including pot bonuses) for AE would be $711, $346, $273. Top 3 payout for UMvC3 would be $599, $314, $257.
- Assuming the patch is out by our tournament, SkullGirls will be on 360. We have not marked the change yet, because we are awaiting more information on it.
- We may or may not be done with pot bonuses! No guarantees, but we’re hoping we can support more games with more money! Just depends on circumstances…
@Shin- Someone will probably host a VF side tourney during the afterparty. We literally don’t have time for ourselves to run more games. As for the bonus pot, one of our own (ARK/NAH AfroMH) sponsored the pot bonus for P4U. We’re hoping to support more games with pot bonuses, but we can’t guarantee anything.
UMvC3 FT5 for $20 against ARK. Also 2v2 or 3v3 team battles could be done.
Says the winner of the SBO Qualifier in Austin. But Arkansas isn’t known for backing down from a fight. I’ll see if I can find anyone interested. Maybe to make things interesting, we can money match 2v2 you and Toi in Brawl.
2v2 brawl would be fun. Not sure if Toi is going. Also, no real smash players please. Lets keep it entertaining.
