Atlanta Revival II: The Rebirth July 11th Atlanta, GA

if no one at the tournament buys it, keep me posted. I love TE sticks

will u be able to pick it up on saturdaY?

Nam he will not be purchasing the stick bro, pay attention to his posts, he is buying a PS3 (supposedly) he has to pay rent (yet rent is due between the 1st and the 3rd) he also has some prior engagements :lame:

i was jus hoping :stuck_out_tongue: maybe ps3 stick > bills

but anyway, on a side note, i look forward to playing everyone saturday, i hope everyone can make it, im not sure when the next time i’ll be competing after this since i’ll be in my last year of undergrad starting sept, and from there only God knows, but either way, hope to see the usual atl crowd and get some good games.

i’ll prob be entering SF4, mvc2, probably bb, maybe even brawl jus for kicks…do we have a guess on the head count for this tourny?

btw ur sig is too funny lol

Sorry, looks like I’m going to miss this one due to lack of funds/packing so I can move in two weeks.

Ill probably come to this but I only have a 360 stick, any chance of someone letting me use there stick?

Its the only time ill need it, got my cthulu board and imp board ordered and waiting on the shipping

ATL vs AUG 5v5… Gonna be character rules? I know our team was built on the rule of seperate characters for each member, so what about Atlanta? Are we gonna have to face an army of Balrogs? Dont mean to seem uptight, but I just dont want to show up at the tourney and there be conflicts because “we thought and he thought this and that, blegh, whatever” problems arise…

its gonna be like this…
boxer
boxer
ryu
sagat
…and some…

SOOO ATL ARE U READY!!! SCREAM!!!

Remember guys MAKE SURE you print out directions from Map quest so you get the right directions.

Personally, I don’t think the character rule should be imposed. This is not a team tournament. This is five people facing off against five other people. If there’s 25 characters in the game, there’s a 1/5 chance that somebody will use the same character as you on your team.

Nobody has confirmed on the format, either. It seems that nobody has a problem with doing a round robin?

ok ok ok. i’m tired of the flip flopping. this is the team rules and it’s final. it’s going to be round robin. 5 on 5. for the charcters select it’s going to be, you pick a character, you stick with that character throughout the team tourny. there can be two of the same characters on one team.

i thought the 5v5 rules were already applied in the first few pages? i dont think aug wants to do a round robin tournament…and technically i thought this was a team tournament? so we were gonna do the traditional jap team rules (posted by i believe iceman and kiyo)…either way we can negotiate, but i dont think a round robin would be the best route cause it will take way too long, some of us dont plan on staying the whole night…and if this whole thing is broadcasted, it will jus be really drawn out…

edit: jus read: if the tourney starts around 2pm (hopefully going to schedule) lets estimate atleast 20+ entrants (hopefully) just for sf4, not including the other games that have to be ran cause most likely the ranbat will be ran after all the games have finished…our ranbat wont start till late, so i dont think a round robin setup is practical…

…It’s possible to run it on MORE than one TV. It would only take ages if you only have one setup for the entire ordeal >_>. Also, a round robin would just produce more consistent results, as opposed to have any one individual carry his entire team to victory. I mean, if either Atlanta or Augusta doesn’t mind possibly having some of their teammates not even be able to participate in the event (assuming anything can happen), and having the mindset that some people only won because they were carried across the finish line, then I guess this whole argument is null.

Besides, it’s very possible to just halt SF4 after reaching top 8, and having an intermission prior to the top 8 finishing. Obviously, the 5on5 would fill the time gap while all the SF4 stations are open.

Honestly, this is just a thought, and if it really comes down to it, a 5on5 elim style is possible. I’d just rather do it right than to half-ass something we would have the resources for in the first place .

::EDIT::

By the way, it seems that the format between the individual players hasn’t even been brought up. If it’s round robin, it should just be 3 games played in each set, with the wins tallied up. If it’s going to be elim, it should probabaly be 3/5 for each set. Just a thought

How the hell you just going to choose a rule set over Kiyo & Myself first of all when we finalized the idea together??

Second over Magnicious & Pokchop when it’s there tournament??

ATLANTA don’t get to choose no format that better suits them… Why???

Cause ATLANTA hasn’t been on the winning side of things in the first place.

EXAMPLE: When a team enters the playoff’s in either football or basketball, the teams are first seeded, when it gets down too the last 2 teams, the team with the most wins chooses the coin flip, chooses the home field advantage etc etc.

AUGUSTA has won the last 2 of our local tournaments and 1 of there own on home soil, the format I mentioned/created was the format I ran by Kiyo (Augusta’s representor) and is the format they BUILT there team around, the very same format I posted in three different Ga Threads.

This was setup to be ATLANTA TEAM v.s. AUGUSTA TEAM.
Not a set of individuals viaing/jocking for there own positioning because if that was the case, there is no incentive for Augusta to even show up, individually they have nothing to prove, they are currently up above & have the win streak to say they are better than ATL… LIKE IT OR NOT, DEAL WITH IT!!!

If you split the so called Team Tournament onto multiple T.V.'s you run Magnicious out of being able to either record or stream the event that we all have worked hard on hyping and putting together, now has began to go into the crapper.

Once again the cockiness of ATL will soon bite them in the ass, So all the training the past few months and the only answer you can come up with to change the format is “Oh well what if only one guy is winning blah blah blah” WTF, well maybe others should have trained alot harder, this is the same format ran all over the U.S.,
I didn’t come up with the ATL TEAM idea so you could face off against JUST AUGUSTA EITHER, we have other teams in the region to face and outside it.

And moreover, I don’t really get why people calling this a team tournament.

Get it right idiots. It’s an EXHIBITION.

EDIT:

So WHO is going to commentate with me?

i thought u werent coming marques? can u make it now?

I had the same notion in the beginning that this would be a fun exhibition match between aug and atl, not some 20 something match round robin tournament. A nice simple 5v5 elimination format is much friendly to watch (single tv, everyone can watch/get hype/cheer instead of being split among 3-4 tvs) as well as being easier to record (imagine trying to record/watch a round robin tourney online…not fun)

Granted, traditionally team matches discourage multiple same chars on the same team, i don’t think its a big deal in this match, just make sure you guys decide on unique colors so we can tell the difference in the videos easier

In the end, this is just for fun for me, whatever the results, GA as a whole has to learn from this and step our games up to put us on the map. I wanna see GA in the top 16 AT THE LEAST next Final Round!

can we all be pink?

on a side note, this made me think of legends of the hidden temple…so we should all wear purple parrot t-shirts…

hmmm yea im have to go with ice and kiyo on this one…but the same char rules will still have to apply cause it wouldn’t be fair to some players on team atl.

ya im gonna go. im gonna start packing next week.
