Umm…I’ll remind you the mexicans and hong kong players I play on kaillera are way better than any of the guys you posted in your tournaments, even Yusuke himself. Please don’t say I lack experience and application…only in the physical traveling, nothing else. Also you forget that I used to play in an arcade and now occasionally go for Accent Core, but to me that isn’t really important to decide goodness.
Also, someone will probably mention something about “tournament pressure”. You forget that I’m as popular on kaillera as you are in the US for SNK games…losing just one match is a big deal to me on kaillera. So technically, there is pressure because if I lose just once, someone’s going to celebrate as if they’ve knocked out Mike Tyson. Sure, there aren’t people screaming in my ear but that’s not that bad for me.
in fact my point is there
if you have the right amount of players you can play everything
but right now you have:
- few players
- poor average level
so i still say that is better to raise your level before exploring too many games
really i was expecting more even from DG
and trust me i can’t say this without being annoying (maybe due to language barrier i think)
but i could pick each of his videos and say frame by frame how and what heavy errors he commit
really too many from one of his caliber
check neo-geo.com forums italian section
there’s a thread called
KOF: un’affollata catalizzazione del potere angelico
there i translated everything with some links to qualifier vids
DG what I think you’re forgetting to add is the pressure of the foreign atmosphere/setting. There is so much more to think about when you have a shit load of people screaming in your ear. That’s usually why I have my headset with me :D.
studying match videos surely help in creating your own knowledge
but also if you have good eye and an open mind you can develop a sort of reminiscence where your brain learn how to react to certain strings even if you dealt against few times
and no, if you watch match vids in deep you can gather tons of infos on player’s decision and choices
matchup or situation depending smart and top players pick some options that may appear strange or inusual
but there is the ‘good eye’

And the hate is SNK heads bashing eachother…I thought it was the Capcom heads that were supposed to bash SNK heads. Somethings wrong here.
I didn’t read the whole argument yet, but I might comment on it if I think I have anything to add.
Learn from yourself
Learn from another
Thanks ^^
Rengoku- Once again I dont know what to tell you. I’m human too…I’m still learning I aint perfect its nice you all put me on some holy pedestal but I’m human like anyone else even!! I make mistakes myself.
You can study match vids to train yourself for it…
Let me explain…
I have been studying JeRon for quite sometime now in NGBC…and hence even though I havent played him much I attribute my success against him in part starting from FRX (The first time we met in person) **to how well I studied him…
**
I study to the part where I can mimic it almost perfectly. You guys see how well Joey was prepared for The Triad in the FRX NGBC Money Matches? How you think that came about? I studied The Triad extensively…
So yes studying helps dont get me wrong…but you still have to get out there and see it for yourself.
Also if its casual play Rengoku (which most footage is) I dont care about making mistakes or not…ITS CASUALS. I sandbag. Tournaments though yeah I’m much more serious.
DropGate is right…the pressure of a tournament setting ALSO is something to think about.
I wish more of these people that are anaylzing us played in general in more tournaments…I BET you’d be making some mistakes too…
NO ONE IS PERFECT…
Thats where I’m getting with this.
I live I come home…study the vids…don’t make the same mistake again thus continue to level up…
Theory Fighter is nice because I overanalyze things guys believe me I do…
But in a tournament sometimes all that goes out the window…

THUS EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED.**

Rengoku…what page of that thread did you post the qualifying teams? It’s a hassle to look through.

rengoku, everyone makes mistakes in a match, even the best players.
i could check any match and talk about what they did wrong in a video?
and from one of DG’s cablibur? i dont think he’s been hyping himself up to be a SNK god or anything, everyone in the thread knows whats good, and ppl have posted here and said who beats who etc. Props are always given where props are deserved of course. But I don’t think any american player in here is hyping themselves up or anything, most of us know whats up.
Also about the comment about having comp, were you directing it to me or the rest of the american scene? I know unlike 95% of the people who have posted in this thread that I actually do have comp in multiple SNK games everyday of the week, if I chose to. And I’m probably one of the few american SNK players in this thread that has been fortunate (and very lucky!) enough to actually play overseas players in SNK games in America and Japan, so I know what’s up, I’m not the best myself but I have played a lot of the best players already in person, so I’m not blind as to what high level looks like.
Oh and BTW you poste the tougeki results? good stuff, I’ll check it out.
you should post them in the sbo5 thread here on srk so we can complete the list!
i was just looking over it just now, apparently the only foreign players in tougeki this year are from china.
too bad that other latin american countries or other places in the world didnt get any foreign spots, but i guess it boils down to money and connections. =/
Giby: its more like a offline vs online argument, not snk heads bashing snk heads per se.
Giby- Yeah hes right.
Arturo I couldnt agree with you more on your posts once again!! I realize that being the head SNK guy means I get undue pressure on me when I play…but damn…
I’m human…***
Even the best players make mistakes.
Everyone makes mistakes.
Its the person that makes THE LEAST AMOUNT that wins…

I still don’t get the offline v online thing. Online has too many bad points to it. The only thing Online has over offline is that I can play anyone anytime I want as long as they’re willing to play.
You guys do realize that most of the people there for these obscure snk game tourneys are there primarily for fun, right? If you’re expecting absurdly high level gameplay in PIM2 or AOF2, then I don’t know what to say.
If you’re talking about US KOF, then yeah, we’re not that great. We’re not Mexico, or Japan, or Hong Kong, and apparently most of our best players don’t ever travel, so yes, this is the best we have to offer until people start fucking showing up. Whoopty shit. Get over it.
Emil: The whole point, no matter how good you may be, is that it’s easy to say “oh well if that were me i would have done such and such and such,” but it’s another thing entirely to be there and do it yourself. Tournament pressure and atmosphere is a HUGE part of it. Someone who has a solid game but doesn’t have much live tourney experience may find themselves fucking up what might normally be really easy shit either from being nervous or simply buckling under the pressure. That’s not something you can get online, and it’s a huge part of what separates the good from the bad.
I can vouch that you have skill (nothingxs is one of my best friends; he taught me KOF and I have a good deal of respect for his opinion and experience), but online rep means shit to most of us, and that’s just how it is. I understand you were just trying to comment on how poor the playing in those videos was, but the truth is if it were anyone else saying that, be it DG himself or even Sabin or Jeron, it’s highly likely that no one would have cared and we’d still be back on page 23.

Emil…if NGBC comes out on a console with online capability…would you play? Do you play NGBC at all?
have you seen some of the Seattle Super Turbo tournament footage? I d like you to critigue it objectively, give your insight what you might have done in a situation or suggest a better alterative for maximum damage. You get the drift.
I like grudge matches I want to see DarkGeese vs Emil 2007 biggest fight of the year, I would pay to see that, hell isnt EVO in Vegas this year, the home of big fights, someone record that epic battle.

Nope I’ve actually never touched NGBC…but I’d like to. Generally though, I don’t comment on NGBC matches besides the level of poking/footsies and random risk taking.
Rengoku…I’m dying to know the kof98 players. The only one I know is in there, is Dakou (I recognized his name in Chinese).
We should have a dedicated LAN setup for this. Real talk!
Yo I’m down as I always have been…is he though??? (At Vegas IN PERSON!) :wonder:
The SNK equivalent of Justin vs. Alex V???
