At the Eye of The Ragin Storm Part II-Out with VCRs, in with DVD recorders!

Awwww, guess I’ll workonit after I get off of work. Thanks tho.

Interesting comparison, I’ve often compared XI Gato to 98 Iori in terms of brokenness. Apples and Oranges in the game. I do think more characters overall fight Iori evenly in 98, then Gato in XI. Also, that other guy was spazzing a bit could tell, and didn’t know how to keep the Iori out at all.

Also, getting stocks is hella easy in XI as compared to 98.

i would rather play against a team of three 98 ioris than kgo discuss

Oh yeah, another great thing about the Kula/Gato team, they’re two of the best batteries in the game as well.

if you can set this up me and wicked are down… but i think the Japanese should get another player on their squad to make things even…

Where are these US vs Japan vids that the thread title mentioned? I searched the entire front page. Am I just blind?

i played 97 when i was in japan for like a year… ya everyone picked him… that was the year you could link command throws out of everything even if you were a scrub.

3 Goros is scarier then 3 Ioris in 98.

Iori does have some counter matchups at least. A few characters can fight him even or even maybe have slight advantage. Shermie and Yamazaki do well versus him. Goro just has worse counter matchups. Runaway chars give Goro trouble.

I find 98 Iori to not be that troubling.

My Kim alone can take em out.
but I can’t really say that for my 98 team is.

Kim/Iori/Chris

You are likely playing inferior Ioris then. I don’t think Kim does that well vs Iori.

Kim gets slept on in 98 since he isn’t easy mode 2k2 Kim, but Kim can work pre-scrubbification. (This is one reason for my HATE of Eolith- they took three of the best KOF designs, and scrubbed them up- Kim being one)

which are the other 2? and how for all 3?

Im just curious really, i mean ive played every kof at least once, but didnt go through each characters drastic changes when the company changed hands.

Fadedsun…its a ways back now so just check the VAt the Eye of the Ragin Storm II and III Video Gallery in the Video Gallery section.
**
FYCN**- Yeah I’ll see if I can get them to get a 3rd player. Will it be I-No? LOL.

Judge you are playing hella inferior Ioris…come up to NYC play a Master or SuperFOB Iori and lets see what you think after that!!!

LOL i said they should get another team member to even things out not give them a disadvantage… in all fairness tho maybe I-No was extra rusty its not like he sucked he just didn’t seem on point to me…

Well then let’s hope he has his act together come EVO World 2008 no?

Yeah I-No didnt suck he just wasnt on point I agree…he’d certainly beat quite a few SST players…

But I expect a better showdown from him next year…

Getting Amakusa vs. me was a no-no…then even worse…GETTING ZANKURO in Losers Finals was a BIG NO-NO…

I know both of those characters like that back of my hand…

Kim, Yuri, Billy- each of them went from having to think of multiple options, to situations where there’s one option that is better then any of the previous options, and a lot simpler to use. Kim especially.

Where do you play? Cause back when I used to play '98 the Mexican Iori’s were insane.

all this talk of 98 is bringing up fond memories of the dreamcast and Shingo KIIIICCKK!!!

Kim definitely got the nationalist treatment. He’s one of those characters I despise no matter what game they’re in (Chun is the other).

Yuri… I personally like her better as Iori Jr. in XI. :lovin:

And you guys talking about 98 Iori vs. XI Gato are insane. Gato’s matchups are almost all completely in his favor no matter who you pick. If you don’t have a decent Gato on your team you’re pretty much telling yourself you don’t really want to win. Sure, you can fight him (and this is the part where someone posts videos of a Gato getting wrecked ), but fighting him is like fighting someone who brought a gun to a knife fight.

At any rate, neither 98 Iori or 98 Daimon are as bad as Gato. It’s a shame too, because outside of him and Ozwald, the game is mostly fine.

Also, I can’t fucking wait for UM.

One day when I have 2000 useless dollars I’ll head up there.
Seriously, I don’t care about NY in any way, shape, or form

I played these mexicans down in San Diego (so you know they are 85% bonafide)
and every one of them played Iori as their 1st, let me say it again, 1st character.
In like any KOF I play Kim as my 1st character, and I was able to hang really well.

I just out rushed them I guess, cause there were a few times when I would get rushed and lose Kim easily.

The only problem is that was a year and 1/2 ago, and I either lost my 98 skill or others got better (I eventually stopped playing 98 and started playing marvel)

Until I started to go to AI, I really haven’t played. I realized that some of the 98 FOB’s there can beat my Iori and Chris, but not my Kim, but in all fairness, whenever my Kim gets rushed I lose him.

Lately I’ve thought of replacing Kim with Kyo or Saisyu, mainly because they can handle rushdown better.

But to sum it up, my Kim is pure rush, but my kim can’t handle rush.
and my Kyo, is aight, but still thinking of replacing Kim with him.

EDIT: Damn, all this 98 talk makes me wanna play real bad.

DG & F.Y.C.N. - I’m down for teaming up.

I still play 98 and I like to use Chin/Andy/Chizuru or Goro/Shermie/Takuma.
Can’t wait til 98 UM gets released. :bgrin:
