At the Eye of The Ragin Storm Part II-Out with VCRs, in with DVD recorders!

well lukus, IMO if someone doesnt play NGBC or say somethings retarded about it i say they just need to play it more and understand it more. its a good fun game… XTG, what the fuck is PNW?? im sorry im retarded.

wow, now i have emil’s backup
i start to feel invincible

yeah ok but beside grooves that allow you to roll cancel (an heavy bug of that game lol) what are other options that make you competitive in cvs2?

so, why you started this point?
i don’t see games that randomly crashes like you say

you can dubt what you want
but backturn is in each snk fighting game
from garou densetsu to kofXI
they didn’t removed it for a reason
pretty like the fireball+command grab

lol
if you like to land over opponent’s guard stance
hey, it’s your life

eeeeeeh
game slowdown with poke combos?
where?when?

in street fighter games most of poke combos can be executed without shortcuts thanks to the startup speed of the following move

in kof you can cancel your cancellable active frame
usually crA’s and some crB’s

as emil already told kof98 kim don’t have a cancellable overhead
and not even in 2k2 unless you BC

stomp glitch is easier in 98
but kim can’t get close enough to do it i think against 60% of the cast
also a grab can catch in between plus some mashing (in 2k2 they can’t mash because of the close C)

not each BC combo have a practical use
or at least isn’t the most convenient option
iori’s is an example
to deal good damage with BC he have to use 4 stocks

striker are broken
can be serious a game engine that allow you to repick opponent from the ground and continue combo till the end of stocks or lifebar?

and who said KOF XI sucks? Really I would play it cept Im a Whip fan, and since Whip is top tier in 2k2 thats what im going to play.

it’s also worth mentioning that activating BC allow you to go for some mixups
you can cancel an overhead with BC then try a 50/50
you can run close and SDM grab
you can cancel some recovery to bait your opponent
you can aim guard crush

but the point is still there

BCs aren’t everything
how many pro matches with BC fest you saw?
ok some great comebacks thanks to any BC but only occasionally
they’re talking like once the round starts it’s a race to BC

and this is fucking wrong

especially when they add random bs like kyo’s spammable jump B

BC mode require stocks, and the same gauge is used for CD (that in kof play a huge role) and AB (to break an B&B-happy opponent)
plus the fact that characters can hold 3-4-5 stocks in that order
unless there’s a huge difference in ability you start to see BCs from the 3rd round on where someone’s stock building strat is succesfull

2 stock BCs are very few and not so convenient because some supercancels are easier and allow more damage
3 stock BC are more common but still you have to play stockbuilding
4 stock meh a good player won’t allow you to keep so much stocks
5 again if you manage to keep 5 stocks mean that your opponent is shit

Naw fuck that son… SST owns SSVSP

discuss…

Just curious why people think SSVSP>>>SST

Not starting shit, I really want to know. I don’t know SST deeply enough to make a critique and I wanted to know what could make a game that I consider really good inferior to the other one. Any info? Thanks.

Well it looks like there were 3 or 4 posts about WW7 going, plus I see more 2k2 things going on. So it sounds like it’s time for more WW7.

I have never played this game or seen it played, so someone describe the system to me.

Whats the tier list for the game? (I know I said I never saw the game played, but I have seen most of the characters before, so I’ll probably know who is who.)

I want to hear some strats on the rabbit that has the kid on his back too, because someday I’m gonna play this game, and that is who I’m gonna pick up, the rabbit.

“edited for spelling”

I only reason I play fighting games is for characters I like. So Charlotte is good in SSV and SSVS and so im going to play one of those if Charlotte was good in tenka Id be trying to get tenka.

Charlotte is not as good in SST as in ANY of the other Samurai Sowdown game.s

Joey- I ageee NGBC needs more exposure still.

Luigi- I’ll let Azagtoth take over for the Vanessa KOFXI stuff.

Tiers for Waku Waku 7? I got that archived and its sooo easy I can repeat it…
**
God Tier-** Tesse.

I forgot that shit was archived. My bad.

Reason some people like Special over Tenka including myself.

  1. Some people find the additional modes in Tenka kinda retarded. That’s a weak argument, but it’s a valid one. One complaint I’ve heard frequently “This isn’t a Samurai game.”

  2. While Special has a glitched move bug (banned in tournies), Tenka has a command grab infinite (also banned), and some other weirdness that Special in general doesn’t have

  3. Balance is better in Special. Tenka has ok balance, but Special is VERY well balance, no character except Mizuki is trash, and even Mizuki has a gimmick that’s very powerful.
Also the top tier in Special is less well defined- the only char everyone agrees is top tier is Suija, and he’s not #1 in the game to a lot of people.

  4. The get-up game is better in Special, it works like Vampire. Tenka restricts it more. That’s also a flavor opinion.

  5. You can play it without load times

  6. The throw game is very powerful in Special, it’s almost ST-like in that regard. It’s not as powerful in Tenka. Online special matches tend to have a ton of throws (Special is not that affected by lag due to its pacing, which is also a bonus)

So is there ever going to be a US release of Garou for the PS2? With all these US releases of other SNK titles, some of them beneath the greatness that is Garou, it has me wondering if I’ll ever see a stateside release of Garou. I already have the JP PS2 version, but I think that if a larger audience had the opportunity to experience Garou, we’d get a slightly larger following here.

Joey - PNW = Pacific Northwest, referring to Portland and surrounding areas, Seattle and surrounding areas in terms of fighting game player population. Some will even throw in Vancouver, British Columbia when referring to the Pacific Northwest, or, PNW

I believe Izuka Yosuke is living in seatle. You should try to get him to come to your event.

Wtf is Ocha-Maru anyway?

thanks XTG.

For XI Vanessa, I can only really say this because I never got too deeply into playing her. Someone more knowledgeable please feel free to correct me or add to it:

bread and butter: cr.b, cr,a, fwd.a, qcb. a, st.C, QCF+ mash C or either super. (not sure about the cr.a actually)
Anti-hyperhop: HH b
Infinite setups can be done off of:
Midscreen Kensou qcf, hcb+D super
Corner Ryo Zanretsuken
Corner Gato QCFx2+P super
Tons of others that I’m having a hard time remembering because I never use them.
Tons of mixup options off of a blocked cr.b, fwd.a, qcb+b. Try st.c, qcf.b, throw; just fuck around with doing different things.

We dont really know what Ocha-Maru is to be honest. We also havent heard of a US release of Garou either. Also I am now back at my main location thus I can now get wo work on the vids etc.

I would like to add: try to lockdown/mixup your opponent by cancelling various strings and normals into punch weaving.

ex. cr.B, f+A(1st hit)xxqcb+P, st.A, f+A(1st hit)xxqcb+P, st.C, f+A(1st hit)xxqcb+P, finish with either a throw, hop C, or cr.B

try to mix it up.

Yo can anyone speak some knowledge about Dong in Garou to me I just got it the other day.
