Gokuu keeps getting worse and worse as we play more, and I’d say he’s one of the weaker characters overall. Before you say I’m full of shit, let me explain:

  1. YOU CAN BLOCK HIS THROW. After he grabs you, just hold d/f, it works every time. Some characters can punish him, even; you face the wrong way initially, so you’ll need a move that can hit on both sides of you. A good number of DPs qualify. =)

He already had issues defensively, since his EX move is a pretty sucky reversal, but this makes him the absolute worst character at escaping pressure.

  1. Crossup rock should never work on a good player. Because of its startup, you can walk in either direction and block it.

  2. He deals little damage. Rock does a lot, d,u+P hurts a decent amount, but that’s it.

  3. The bees are unreliable. Their flight pattern is quite random, which makes his unblockables very unlikely to work in a real match.

  4. His normals lack damage AND range, making them pretty lame overall.

  5. Nimbus cloud runaway is not that great against the majority of the cast. Rasputin just happens to be the one character who can do literally nothing except push Gokuu to the corner. To name a few examples…Dragon and J.Max can hit him with their anti-air specials, Mudman has his upward fireball, the ninjas can double jump, and many other characters have “dashing” specials that can quickly close the gap (e.g. J.Carn, Erick, Muscle, Capt.Kidd, Shura).

And Rasputin actually destroys Gokuu in all other aspects, so Keits and I think the matchup is even. Gokuu has to be a major luckbox to get the lead…

If anyone still thinks he should be banned, I would honestly be interested in hearing why!
