Asura's Wrath: Japanese God of War

“One observation about the demo does bear out, though – you spend a lot more time watching in Asura’s Wrath than you do playing. Of any 20-minute long episode, the average actual gameplay time is nearer five minutes. If you think that disqualifies it from being a game at all, though, your definition of “game” could probably use some broadening. It’s an experience that simply couldn’t be delivered through film, manga or any other medium, one that’s unmistakeably videogamey despite the fact that so much of it isn’t actually interactive. It won’t be to everyone’s taste, certainly, but anybody who’s beginning to feel that most games are pretty much the same these days will find an abundance of things to love here.”

Yeah, fuck you Grah.

Unless we get the Heaven edition I’ll now be waiting for this to go on discount.

Meh… I think it’s fair to say I’ll just wait for reviews for this one.

God damn that’s some serious dick sucking.

“GUYS, GUYS, THIS NON-INTERACTIVE STUFF IS SO GOOD THAT IT CAN’T EVEN BE PORTRAYED BY OTHER NON-INTERACTIVE MEANS, DESPITE IT BEING NON-INTERACTIVE TO BEGIN WITH! YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH THIS NON-INTERACTIVE STUFF TO GET THE FEELS, BUT YOU CAN’T BECAUSE IT ISN’T INTERACTIVE!”

That’s how I interpreted it. o_O

NB had a decent combat system actually. It’s no where near NG or DMC’s level but the three weapons you had all had their uses and it was overall fun to play at least once. Oh and being able to run around as a pink ninja  … you can’t touch that.

Emphasis on once. It does have kind of retarded Otogi feel to the fighting, but the boss fights that weren’t quick time were misery inducing…boss retreats to background, throws fireball style attack for 2-3 minutes, moves forward, does melee attack, slash whatever it tried to hit you with, boss retreats into background, throws fireballs for 2-3 minutes. Boss approaches to do melee attack, fakes it, retreats into background for 3 minutes.:arazz:

Yeah so…wow is that balls. I have no way to express my disappointment in this part of capcom. I can understand them not putting out quality fighting games anymore but at least they’ve always had solid titles. This is just fucking bullshit.

Biggest. Blueballs. Ever.

Don’t let GRAH hear you. Because clearly you are still an idiot for crying and complaining about a non finished game that you know nothing of and has provided ample proof about the interactive combat system in the game and how it isn’t QTE.

Yea. That’s really sad to read, especially since I enjoy the presentation so much. :shake:. I’ll probably watch a walkthrough on Youtube and call it a day. Damn, capcom…

LOL everyone was so hype before now yall are on that “fuck QTE’s” tip.

QTE’s can be GDLKE like in Heavy Rain or an annoying gimmick like in Ninja Blade. David Cage made a great argument in support of QTE’s saying something like cue horrible paraphrase post :

In a shooter the engine and it’s mechanics allow for only that so every level you’re just doing the same thing over and over again just in different environments but with QTE’s one minute you could be driving, another you could be puzzle solving, another you could be fighting, and so on because QTE’s allow games to be infinitely more flexible with what is possible.

AW like DmC is in the “meh will probably be decent I’ll wait for price drop on amazon” category for me.

The only QTEs I liked were in Shenmue. Only because the QTE sequences always reflected the actual action your character made. Most games throw some fucking nonsensical BS sequence that has nothing to do with your character at all and that shit is just dumb.

Also, every single MASH BUTTON REALLY FAST sequence can fuck off. I hated them when they were test your might bullshit in the older MK games (6 button controller with turbo, fuck yeah), and I hate them just as much now.

We aren’t on a fuck QTE trip, we are on a “You gave us some bullshit cocktease and now we mad” trip. A chunk of the early footage was hype because it promised punching BIG BHUDDA BELLIES! But it seems that the gameplay has turned into “Hit Square and watch Asura punch BIG BHUDDA BELLIES!”

A lot of us are not satisfied unless we are hitting some buttons really hard in order to cause major pain in a video game. Hitting button hards to have your character beat the shit out of people is a lot more satisfying than hitting a button once and then seeing your character do random shit.

Just a small note, I received confirmation from the Asura’s Wrath facebook page that the Heaven edition will NOT be released here, price reduction it is.

Sorry for double post, but just had wanted to bump with the news that we were all pretty much wrong, this game isn’t filled with QTEs at all.

“During some of these cutscenes, including Asura’s launch, involved what was described by head of localisation as player driven events, or PDE for short. Unlike quick time events, the game’s player driven events do not need to be repeated if failed. In fact, player driven events will determine the outcome of the scene to an extent. It may also determine how many arms our hero has as well as the player’s score and ranking at the end of the episode. However, they do strike a similarity to quick time events. The player presses the button to perform the action, usually the face button or the analogue sticks. What I found interesting is that the button presses mimics the action within the scene, unlike the quick time events. I enjoyed how the various inputs determined the action on-screen.”

Sounds like QTE’s.

idgaf if its all QTEs it still looks godlike
