The article highlights the plight of the people running from persecution but does little to address the fact that the problem with taking in so many refugees is that there is no place to put them, and where they are space at the destination there arent any jobs, or any effort that is being made to accommodate them could also be used to treat problems with their own society such as homelessness or any other neglected social problem, like addicts and returning prisoners to real life etc.
Maybe a country as big as the US can pull this off but Europe is already pretty maxxed out when it comes to jobs and housing I believe. Either way thats a state of the world post :lol: To sum it up though as with any major humanitarian crisis, they should have immediately had the UN move in and house everybody in a King Khalid Military City style refugee camp. Have nations donate it its smooth running. Return people back to their own country when the crisis is over etc.

I think a strong case can be made that if it wasn’t for Snowden, law enforcement and National security agencies would have had a much easier time keeping ahead of the curve.
Snowden’s revelations gave jihadis coordinating attacks in Western homelands a substantive reason to innovate on their communications methods (use ps4s) and stick to them in a disciplined manner (its one thing to stay off the grid if you “think” people are listening, its another to stay off if you “know” they’re listening… The former is much more likely to be mucked up by a dude deciding to use the phone for convenience).
