Ask me something

chasing maki is like chasing rolento. but it all depends what groove she’s used in. i think c maki is best (most annoying) because of all the bar she builds while you are unable to touch her. try and corner her and get your damage there. and beware of standing mk! if it hits and she has bar, you’re done.

Kang:

If you’re using Ken vs. Vega, the whole thing with the matchup is to gain momentum.
First off you should just runaway and build a shitload of meter. Reason why is that you would build it faster then Vega in which case you can go on the attack and do more damage much quicker than him.
Second thing is to get him in a knockdown situation by going for throws, just throw him alot. Then when you get the knockdown go for a guarenteed crossup setup into more throws, or short, counter short, super.

If he RC claws, then AC out to get a knockdown and gain momentum, then go for another crossup/counter hit setup.

In the long run, the damage you can dish out is much greater than what Vega can do in the match. This allows you to take more risks, blah blah, you get the point.

K-groove and random supers

been busy with deadlines, naps, and sparse evo practice (for every game except cvs2 because dallas is full of haters). i’ll try to post sometime later in the week

I don’t fear Maki’s s.MK the slightest when she has rage. In fact I’m more concerned about random low jump HP, 720 or random 720 as I get up than s.MK xx super. Just like fighting against anybody else with meter, I don’t swing with anything big when I know they’re looking to punish my pokes.

So unless Maki has that Robo-Ky thing where she autohit-confirms into super for you whenever your move makes contact, I’ll be hitting her with Sagat far s.HP xx super whenever she thinks she’s going to finish me with s.MK xx death.

Thanks for the Maki link too. I didn’t know other people from this website were also keeping outside projects on CvS2. I’ll save that page.

I guess ill just switch to K than.

oh, thx for the good advices.

I tried some of the tactics, but it’s really hard.
When I see a moment to throw Vega, he jumps and I grab the air, he falls and punish me. When I’m gonna punish because I think he’s gonna jump, he throws me. I’m getting mad with that. It’s worse when I try to punish air to air and he air throw me, that is reeeeally annoying…

However, I think it’s easier when I use Blanka, since I can RC KKK and get out of his pressure

I like inching forward against Bison when I think he wants to do a random scissor kick. Then backdash when I’m certain he won’t do it. Sucks when I run out of corner tho.

If you want my honest opinion. Don’t play Ken against Vega unless your name is Choi or Dan. Both those guys are generally losing (unless they land that hit early in the match), they win because they make one strategic guess and land that combo. If you can’t do that, don’t bother with Ken.

And I don’t think you can throw a reversal ground roll move.

As for Cammy advice… its way too long to explain Cammy vs Sagat. Honestly, 99% of the time, I just end up rolling a RH or making it whiff and st FP into supering. I don’t feel like typing up a FAQ on how to fight her, but it is a pretty even matchup. Against K cammy… if she is waiting on JDing your low tiger shots at mid range… dash throw/cr LK on her and get up in her face.

sagat vs (roll groove)cammy: who does it favor?

i used to think it’s supposed to be sagat, but…

1)cammy’s s.rh still beats 90+% of sagat’s jump in
2)if sagat does intelligent low shots, that’s one thing, but block a few, and rc drill through low shots on occassion, free knockdown
3)not too sure about the footsies game since my footsies is ass, but can’t cammy punish fierces(crouching too?) with s.rh if sagat whiffs? if sagat rolls, it’s sagat taking the risk, not cammy, but i wont’ get too much into the rolling tactics.

I have two Questions:

  1. I was reading the Iori and Morrigan faqs on Gamefaqs and you gave an objective that the specific character works for. Sooo, I was wondering what the main objective for Ken is. My guess would be getting in close to land cr. shorts, but I’d like to know if this is correct.

  2. Regarding C-Kim’s Infinite. I do not fully understand how it works, but my guess is that the move canceled out of the super leaves the opposing character in a juggle-able state and allows for the repeated stomps. If I am correct in this assumption, why can’t the juggle-able state be achieved through a custom combo? As I said I don’t know how the infinte works but if someone could shed light on it for me I’d appreciate it.

Thanks Dentron that explains it.

Sagat .vs Sagat… This is such a tough match up for me. I just dont understand what to do?

It’s like rock’em socke’m robot’s or something.

I think all you have to do is wait for the other Sagat to whiff something and then you punish, and try not to jump at all because the other Sagat player is waiting for that. Also if you fight a Sagat with a roll groove please punish rolling, and if the Sagat jumps on you use standing RH, and jumping fierce for anti-air, just try to be really patient.

I disagree with running Sagat > C Sagat. I think N sagat is better, but not K Sagat. Even if Sagat is running in for the guardbreak… cr MK generally stops run cr FP. Personally, I’ve in the past always felt like I get roasted for running is and cr FPing (when I play K groove). Its hard to read when someone is going to poke when you are running (unless you have mad frame advantage), and the CH probability is in their favor because you are the one running forward, they also have the options of blocking, which the running Sagat doesn’t. St MK usually gets CH in my past experience. The best way to stop running Sagat is with Ken’s funky kick. The only way he gets past that is by doing Run into random super… and if he pulls that shit off more power to him.

Buk doesn’t save stuff generally considering he has kept this thread going forever by answering most of the questions, I’m guessing he is busy as fuck… some other people… I’m sure do, but people are bound to do that. The counter to RC electricity for people trying to punish the whiff is mash on it longer. In 2004, not many people did mashed RC electric.

And from what I have seen, Nakanishi’s counter to Vega and Blanka are roll super  . IMO the best character against Vega is Iori or Nakoruru with some lucky randomness. So if you face A Vega/Sak/Blanka… play N Iori/Vega or Rolento or EHonda/Sagat… you should be straight if you can use those characters in N. Don’t remember if Iori can Counter Roll Vega’s cr MP into a combo.

quick question: for K Sagat and Rolento, they seem to have a really tricky super with low jump. for sag, you just do lj.rh, lvl 3 tiger raid. rolento, you do lj.mp, cr.mk hanging super. My question is…is this unblockable or just really hard to block?

Really hard to block…but i think the mp for rolento, if you early attack, it comes out really quick and i think its impossible to block if you’re blocking low. I usually RC my way out of lj, and this trick always gets me.
