Art's Hobbies Big Update! 1/32" Acrylic, V.S., Pro, Qanba, HRAP V3/VX, Custom Art Dustwashers

That’s great! I never like that thing.
thanks

hi everyone, i’ve convinced a few of my friends to order these here in australia,

except we’re deciding whether to laminate the art or not, seeing as we’d like to interchange different art every now and then, and don’t want to wear out the art by constantly changing it, i’m wondering what laminated art would look like placed under the plexiglass? would it look any different? has anyone done this? Suggestions Arthong?

cheers

Got plexi and laser cut artwork. Sorry for crappy pics. The plexi was such a beauty to behold, didn’t want to take it out of the bag. Thanks Art, continue rocking!

are those PS-14-Ks? they look a lot brighter than mine, did you take this with flash?

I had a lamp above. PS-14-KN screw ins. I was kinda dissappointed by its color. I thought it was neon green like the balltop, but in the end it works.

Hey, just posted this in the stick gallery too. Art, you are a plexi genius.

This is the TE-extended which sits on top of the metal/plastic but it covers the little gap after you remove the round bezel. For some reason I thought it was going to sit lower, but I don’t mind the edge at all.

Oh and thank you guys for mentioning the little nubs on the OSBF buttons. I cut them off using a utility knife and the buttons clicked in, no problem.

Yeah, it can take up to 7 days for just a regular order, although I try my best to ship it out much earlier than that. The entire process of getting to everyone’s order, cutting, flame polishing, adding a coat of polish, packaging, sorting through orders, shipping, etc… just all adds up to a lot of time. Especially when artwork and/or custom etching are involved, it takes a bit more prep time, and travel time to kinko’s. And plus this is a part-time thing as I have a full-time job. So I don’t get much sleep as is already. Sorry for the wait, but this is as fast as a 1.5 man part-time operation can go right now =)

I would personally say lamination with the plexi is not necessary. If you print on bright laser cardstock, you should get a good turnout on your art. The lamination doesn’t serve any additional purpose other than to protect your art. Basically consider this… would you laminate your picture before putting it in a picture frame?

Also, the lamination would add extra thickness to your panel, and because the lamination is a thin plastic, it could have kind of a “sticky” effect along with the plexi. It doesn’t harm either material, but you may get some unevenness in the quality of the artwork… like some clear spots in one area, and uneven spots elsewhere. Not sure how to effectively communicate this as I don’t have an example to show you.

Overall, it’s up to you, but I personally wouldn’t suggest it. It’s not really necessary to spend the additional money on it.

And I think someone in Australia was going to make some plexi-covers similar to mine. Someone posted an Australia group buy in one of my threads… could be this one, or the one in the Trading outlet, and someone in Australia said he could make something similar. Maybe you can search to see if that guy was successful at making it to save you some shipping out to Australia =). But as for the etchings… that I don’t know. lol

Awesome dude! Looks great with your color theme!

Nicely done! I was curious about your choice on the Grey Vewlix artwork as you’re the first I’ve heard with that color selection. But it looks like it turned out great!

Glad you like it. I wish I would’ve kept the PSDs, but had just intended on printing it and deleting the files altogether thinking I would never use them. Glad I kept the JPEG at least.

Just ordered. Why isnt this a sticky thread?

I just wanted to say thanks to Arthong for the plexi top and precut art. It looks so much better than the original lamilabelled art I had before.

I feel you, I was hoping for a more neon effect on my green PS-14-K too. I guess it’s fine if there’s enough light. make me wonder about LED though, trying to debate if it’s worth the work.

Put in a second order for plexi+art a couple of days ago, looking forward to the results as I really enjoyed the first.

Can you make one like this for me?
but I will like to have the eight buttons lay out.

+1 congrats on the sticky Art!

Just got my second order, and I see a lot more in the future. Business must be going veeery well

Just recieved my plexi today. Took less than a week!! This is my third order with Art and I am very pleased with his service and products. Will post images soon.

There is already an Eight-button Vewlix made.

Unless you want mdsfx’s specifically?

is it tough to cut the circular holes in the mamemarquee vinyl? i had a hell of a time cutting some 90lb card stock, but thats probably because my xacto blade was dull.

yay, this thread is now a sticky!!!

Rightly so

Thanks art for the awsome plexi and the print out. I would also like to thank Tsumani-EX for reposting the Chun-Li. Got a lot of info from the threads on types of Paint for bezels. Would also thanks Silentrage03 for the tips and tricks. Sorry for the crappy picture took it in bad lighting with the iphone.
