Arrow: The Green Arrow TV show

With the way the last episode ended, I’m thinking all of this is in Ras’ plan. Ras knows it was all because of Merlin, intentionally left Ollie alive, told Maseo to “rescue” Ollie, and is now planning on going after Merlin.

I highly doubt Ra’s would be willing to let Maseo kill three of his men just to keep Ollie alive.

Some info on Episode 14 "The Return"

Spoiler

THE RETURN OF DEATHSTROKE AND TOMMY MERLYN — Malcolm (John Barrowman) puts Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) in a dangerous situation that lands them on Lian Yu with Oliver’s former enemy, Deathstroke (guest star Manu Bennett). A flashback reveals when Oliver and Maseo (guest star Karl Yune) returned to Starling City to retrieve the Omega bio weapon, and despite being under strict orders from Amanda Waller (guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) not to reveal himself to anyone, Oliver looks in on his family, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Tommy (guest star Colin Donnell). Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Erik Oleson.

Why did Ollie go fight Ra’s and is now running?

The whole point of going to Ra’s in the first place was that 50 people were gonna die every day that he runs. By virtue of him running away after that, the league is going to just go back to the ultimatum while he is recovering. They know he’s alive.

I’m trying to ignore how they found out he is alive, Merlyn took one look at the blade and drop and was like GGPO, empty casket funeral for you.

Because Ra’s knows Merlyn is still behind what happened and is still going after him. Thus Ollie being alive or dead didn’t matter for shit (and Ra’s knew that hence why he was trying to get Ollie to avoid picking a fight).

Ras’ final blow can only be one of three intentions:

  1. Kill - this was what we were lead to believe for that cliffhanger. Since Ras is such a capable fighter, his final blow should kill 100% of the time.
  2. Fatal blow, but let him slowly die - Ras didn’t show anger or anything to Ollie. I feel like Ras kind of respected him, especially since Ollie lasted longer than most. Even though Ras does not hesitate to kill, I don’t see this version of him enjoying torture and making somebody like Ollie suffer.
  3. Let him live - Ras could have a greater scheme in the works. It could involve using Ollie as a pawn, or it may not. But I’d rather believe Ras intentionally left Ollie to live rather than find out Ras failed to give a killing blow.

Ra’s let him live.

Agreed, so why send the League after his body, he’ll show up in Starling City soon enough

I dunno man, the writing this season has been pretty sub-standard.

Though, if he let him live, why kick him off the cliff?

Ra’s didn’t let him live. If he did, his plan is way too convoluted.

It is rather convoluted. But at the same time, it makes more sense for him to have a convoluted plan than fail to kill an intended target. That makes even less sense.

Ras most likely wants to kill Merlyn, somebody who’s smart, resourceful, and has eluded the League for awhile. This may all be a ploy to finally get him. “Killing” Ollie has now made Thea to stay and wait for her brother, which forces Merlyn to stay in Starling City. The League not only knows where he is, but his weakness as well.

It makes sense because Ollie got lucky.

And how does that plan change if Ollie is dead? At all?

I halfheartedly said my theory the fist time, but now I’m starting to believe it.

That’s nowhere near his heart and I’m pretty damn sure it misses his inferior vena cava. To me, it looks like Ra’s went through his right lung. Ollie was on his knees and helpless. If you want to say Ras “accidentally missed,” go ahead. That’s what most people are thinking anyways. But anybody can kill a defenseless guy at that range.

I’m sure you’ll probably chalk that image up to the special effects people not knowing anatomy.

I didn’t say he accidently missed. I mean, if he wanted he could’ve cut his head off…it is Ra’s.

But Ra’s is many things, and one of them is not Master of Physics.

“Master”, perhaps not, but he does have a genius-level intellect, rivalling that of Bruce Wayne.

So, if he’s not a master strictly speaking, he’s still pretty damn knowledgeable about science.

Ra’s is like Vandal Savage-lite; he’s been around for centuries, he knows a lot about a lot.

Yeah but not even he could kick Ollie perfectly enough to not only land on a small alcove off the side of the mountain, but to do it without continuing momentum and toppling further down and without sending down hard enough to not die on the landing. Oh, not to mention somehow being sure that Ollie would survive that long with a bad, open wound while half naked at extremely frigid temperatures. It’s ridiculous enough that all of that came into play for Ollie but there’s no way in hell that Ra’s could pull that off on purpose.

Talking about amazing acts of skill on a super hero show isn’t solid ground to stand on. Are half the stuff they do on this show realistically possible? Captain Boomerang took down special agents who had guns using a couple pieces of bent metal. One even bounced off a guy, ricocheted off a wall, hit another dude, and then back to Captain Boomerang. Yeah…that’s not possible no matter how good you are.

No, but at least I can buy a boomerang killing people.

But fine, I’ll give up. All a part of Ra’s plan.

Oh NOW Sin wants a random appearance…
