I don’t really get comments like that. Fanatiq ain’t playing like Marvel 2 in MVC3. It’s not possible. The games are way too different. Storm and Sentinel are also massively different from their previous incarnations. Just because he’s using 2 of the 3 characters he used to play in MVC2 doesn’t mean he’s playing MVC2. I don’t know why some people keep saying stuff like that. I think he has adapted his gameplay for MVC3. You’re not going to get far at all in MVC3 if you try to play like it’s MVC2, and the reason for that is, and I’ll say it again, the games are just way too different.
My main point was though, that I don’t see how having experience against MSS or MSP for that matter in MVC2, is somehow supposed to translate to MVC3. As such, when people lose to MSS in MVC3, you can’t really use arguments like “Didn’t they have 9 years to figure this team out?” You can for MVC2, but not 3. People haven’t had 9 years to figure out how to beat MSS in MVC3. They’ve barely had a year and half.
They mean his neutral game, spacing, his fundamentals play like mvc 2. Combos don’t make. Game different it’s how you earn them. Fanatiq plays aggressively neutral like mvC2
I feel like that’s sometimes a bad thing. Magneto isn’t as “linear” as he was in 2 in the sense that he has a lot more zoning tactics, but fanatiq is pretty much the only “top” magneto who pretty much never uses blasts.
Also, for the last time peoples, fanatiq did not play magneto storm sentinel in mvc2. I know james chen told you that. I know 10000 other commentators keep saying that, but he didn’t. He played magneto storm psylocke. I believe he said he couldn’t play sentinel on pad, but I’m not sure.
For everyone else it’s a bad thing. Magnegro/Beyonzo/Sentijamal is a real force to be reckoned with. Fanatiq knows how insane marvel is and his aggressive style and movement is something to respect. He pops off the way he does because he doesn’t just derp like most other players.
Fanatiq doesn’t consistently place in majors, what position did he get at SCR, NCR and EVO? I am a fan of him but he’s going to have to drop MSS if he wants to consistently place in majors, that team is just too momentum reliant and easy to be randomed out.
Mags still has the same high lows with fly loops, sent still has armor and high damage, your still going to be punished by a storm DHC if you are stupid with your assist calls. The game changed, but the fundamental way the team works is still much the same.
ECT won the money match and got first in Marvel. 5th at CEO. He has won WNF a few times these past two seasons (I know it’s a weekly)
Ok, so he doesn’t get top 8 at every single major, but I do see him slaying people and making his presence known at any stream I watch him on. And MSS is a solid team and he can play with any combination of characters at any time. Every rush down team, in theory, can be “randomed out” yes, but I wouldn’t say MSS is momentum based.
I saw him on a cctv running sets vid against Mike Ross and he replaced storm with Spencer. He was doing really well, but it was Mike though. Maybe he will make a commitment to that and grind the team out with Knives.
