I just got bought a PSP very recently (like two weeks ago) and I think fighting games would be great for PSP. Why? Think about it: what’s PSP’s gimmick? To provide short, portable gaming. How the hell can you play an RPG while you’re traveling somewhere where you constantly need to turn it back and forth or put it away? A fighter solves that because you only need to pause and you can always go back to where you came from.
Now about the D-Pad…it’s actually NOT the same as PS2 imo. I was actually trying out the D-pad to see if I could do the same motions as my PS2 pad. It actually feels a little different because the pad does not “stick out” as much and therefore is less responsive. However, I do not know because I have not played any of these fighters yet. The only problem is that playing Capcom fighters will be like playing on DC; I can’t stand the fact that RH and FP are on the opposite sides as opposed to R1 and R2.
Since we’re talking about PSP…does anyone know the range of the Wi-Fi? How far can you go to detect another PSP? And do you have to have the same game?

psp is awesome as far as overall value i mean you can put videos pictures music games are awesome lumines twisted metal darkstalkers wipeout ridge racer hot shots right now all i play is ds though they have the hot games right now meteos ownz
Man I’ll probably end up get one maybe next year or so once theres a bit of a price drop and theres more quality titles for it. I hate it when you have a powerful machine and only a few good games for it.
Aplha 3 I am praying has the World tour mode, that would be helluva lotta fun on the road. making Yun a kiling machine.
Portable fighters are alot of fun especially the survival modes. I’ll never give up my GBA. My girlfriend would kill me if she couldnt play puzzle fighter or Wario
I traded in my DS for a PSP a few days ago. However, despite popular belief and the critical ravings of most gaming sites/mags, the Dpad and stick suck for fighters. Seriously, the GBASP has a better Dpad than the PSP. Its no wonder EB didnt have a floor model; everyone would realize what a fragile pile of crap this thing is.
I want my DS back. Now.

Now that you mention it, you’re right, no where i’ve been have i seen a floor display of a psp, and i mean NO WHERE.
I would never buy a handheld for fighting games, not to mention almsot all of the fighters on the PSP I already have in one form or another, there is no reason for me to buy a PSP yet, and there won’t be until there is at least one decent game I think I need to own, so far I don’t see any on the horizon…
Let me know when 3rd Strike gets ported to the PSP.
