Hyper dimension was clearly made to be a fighter. You can alpha counter for crying out loud and the game has reversals, 0 frame throws a la ST, invincible moves, short jumps before KoF had them and alot of other shit.
I’ve often heard the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Sparking Meteor) is the best one of the Tenkaichi games. I’ve never played it though. Any good?

To me it’s the best Tenkaichi game. No worth as a fighter, but if you’re looking for a DBZ Simulator, look no further.
Why do people dismiss a game on what it was designed to be? We’ve had some mistakes turn out to be precious gems.

Least he’s not a pompous asshole about it. I can’t remember a time I’ve ever actually cared about developer intent behind a game, I just play the game based on the game. If Budokai Tenkaichi 3 were a good competitive game, I’d play it more, regardless of whether or not the developer gave two shits about it being played by more than kids slamming away on the buttons. Jojo’s All Star Battle is designed to be great fanservice for Jojo’s fans on its anniversary, but you can bet that if it has any potential as a competitive game, I’ll be playing the shit out of that at fighting game meets (not that I won’t be playing the shit out of it by myself anyway). And let’s not forget Melee, the greatest accident in competitive fighting game history after MvC2.
Incidentally, having the AI fight 5v5 with random characters in Tenkaichi 3 makes a great backdrop to any table top games where there can be long turns with you having little involvement, such as monopoly or munchkin. Just watch the characters blast away at each other as if you were watching a new episode of DBZ.
Super Dragon Ball Z was created by Noritaka Funamizu, i think that’s a enough reason.
I ordered another copy of Super Dbz because I can’t find my original and I just wanna mess around with it again after seeing that video. Too bad it didn’t pick up steam and the skill tree building took a really long time.
The skill tree thing in that game makes me wonder though… why did game companies stop making controllers that allowed you to put memory cards in them? I mean yeah there’s HDDs now to hold lots of data, but when it comes to potentially customizable features like that in this game (and recently the SFxT gems thing), those would’ve really helped things go more smoothly if we ever wanted to run tournaments for games like that and play the characters to the fullest. The way consoles are now just kills the potential for stuff like that since no single system will have everyone’s personal build.
Not to mention just plain old memory card ports on the system got filtered out too, but I think just having it with your controller would’ve been way more convenient. I guess maybe DLC plans might’ve played into it, but maybe including a tournament mode in the game itself could allow people to load their customs in that mode only while locking it out in any other mode if the system owner didn’t buy it himself.
TLDR: Controllers should be able to hold custom saves again so games that use it can be played elsewhere without a hassle.
