Are arcade sticks worth collecting?

I was gonna say this:

Fuck, even PS2 sticks are largely unnecessary now. Even if USB stays, which I imagine will happen, the systems will probably come out with a new protocol/security of pairing so that this gen’s perhipherals wont sync.

Unless you want to display them in a case, just use or sell em.

Yeah, I was going to do a joystick representing each member of Wu-Tang - I already have my Ghostface Killah stick, I got the parts for my U-God stick (Kid With the Golden Arms…which was really golden ribbon haha), and was going to use ArtHong to get my ‘Purple Tape’ case to represent Raekwon. I’ll prolly still do the Purple Tape and the U-God stick, but there is no point in doing them all unless I can get them signed…at which they would still reduce to ‘display case’ status.

Going to have to disagree with this…Depending on the case build & actual stick parts its quite different…

Anyway, at most all you need is probably 3 sticks…For player 1 & 2, then the 3rd for backup…When the new systems comes out, just replace the pcb…

As for Madcatz sticks, these were mad produce…The value in them will not increase so there is no point in collecting them…

Yeah. I’m thinking the same thing. And with the PRO coming out soon there’s no sense in collecting them. I should focus on getting better anyway. And I like to think I take care of the sticks I do have.

Guess this means I have a new in box Chun stick to sell.

I’m just gonna buy a PRO and throw some Seimitsu buttons in it. I’ll keep my SE as a backup.

Collect/buy what you like. I’ve always liked arcade sticks that’s why I keep at it.

MarkMan:

Can you break down your collection? Is that even possible!?

Yeah, if I have time, I can. I probably should too.

If you like them and want to collect them then go ahead? You might grow out of it though, as with anything. You can do whatever you want, as long as it makes you happy.

Fuck it. If I had the time and the money, I’d like to amass a collection to rival Marks.

Spoiler

sadly, I don’t

Pretty worthless thread. Sticks aren’t like stamps, coins, or guitars in the sense that they’ll all skyrocket in value in the next 20 years. So it comes down to…do YOU want to collect arcade sticks? Will it make you happy?

Fortunately, you could answer those questions without creating this thread.
