Arcade stick options for upcoming PS4 beta?

I feel yah dude, coming from the same boat. I’m really iffy about that whole 8 minute time out thing, hopefully that blows over soon.

We got our PS4 quite early on anyway, and as soon as SFV was announced I made plans to get the TE2 - picked up the GG:Xrd one earlier this year, didn’t get a whole lot of use until USF4 dropped mind, but well worth it! So I’m ready for beta! Then after beta I’ll start the modding process! =D

Yesterday my TE2 arrived :). Ready for the beta but going away to Sweden on those days :frowning:

I purchased one of these. Don’t know if it will arrive on time. Also, not sure how great it will work though reviews on there other models are good and Evo hasn’t banned them like they have with the convertors made by other companies because of their lag. They promise a lag free product.

If I didn’t just buy a PS4 I’d at the very least buy one TE2 the woman and I could take turns using.

If I can sell some things on Ebay I might pick one up at Amazon, but at this point I’m 99% sure I’ll be sucking with a pad during phase one betas. Hopefully I’ll have a stick for phase 2.

I got Xrd-SIGN on the way with my PS4, so I’ll have some use for it even before SFV releases (plus if I decide to sell my 360 I’ll def grab USFIV for PS4 also).

Some of the amazon reviews scared me off the TE2 tbh

Most of the complaints seem to center around the plexi/art, which can be replaced with one from Tek-Innovations. That’s what my plans are anyways, just ordered a TE2.

Just gave my Killer Instinct stick to Gummo at Evo to get it dual modded for PS3/4/Xbone. Should be getting it back in time for SFV beta

With the pad setup, I was going to go for this layout

square - LP
triangle - MP
circle - HP
cross - LK
R1 - MK
R2 - HK

And then L1 and L2 will be 3P and 3K

V skill and V trigger should be cake to execute as well as throw being the same as always

You’re gonna be using alot of shoulders for that.

how are the shoulders?
I only have ps2/3 pad and this setup seems ok

Just saying since the game is less about confirms from lights and seems to be more about footsies with medium and heavy attacks, you’re going to be hitting those alot more.

I am using original xbox 360 TE with CronusMax and so far no issues/lag testing on Injustice. Not sure how the weight can affect the usb drive, it’s actually fairly light, but I have been using a small usb extender because I don’t like the way it juts out.

As for the 8 minute timeout, the new firmware allows the devices to re-authenticate every 8 minutes. It takes less than one second, but you will notice that it cuts out really quick and the PS4 tells you the controller disconnected. If this is unbearable (which to me it probably will be that way). You can plug the Cronus max into the ps4, plug the PC port into the PC, DS4 controller into the input port, and the TE stick into the PC and run x-aim to proxy the stick controls through the computer while piggy backing off of the DS4 controller’s authentication. It’s can be an ugly setup, but my PS4 is at my computer desk, so its all already there =). So far no concerns of lag that I am aware. There was a ongoing testing and investigation thread on SRK forum somewhere of someone testing the cronus max with the same conclusion that there isn’t any noticeable input lag.

I have the same setup running regarding the PC, however i have the Titan One, the successor to the ChronusMax. Anyway from my time playing USFIV, MKX and GGXrd on PS4 with this setup, i’ve never had any problems happening at all. No lag whatsoever, atleast from what i’m feeling. Haven’t done any indepth testing regarding input lag with this device though. It’s a lot cheaper than buying a €200 stick from MCZ. The setup is cumbersome if the ps4 isn’t close to your PC though, it’s also not possible assign the “select” button from PS4 to anything on my 360 stick, atleast i couldn’t find out how to do it.

I have to definately admit when you have a stick plugged into the adapter and the adapter into the console…the USB port will definately be affected, it’ll bend due to the weight. So that is why i’m running the PC setup where the USB port won’t bend due to the stick actually plugging into the PC. Also running this setup because i don’t want the re-authetication happening every 8 min.

Anyway people can take what i said and decide for themselves, it works fine for me and it’s cheap.

I’m just wondering if there’s and news about SFV being able to use PS3 fightsticks. If anyone has some info that would be great.

I found some modded Venom (Venom box with sanwa parts and stick) fightsticks on ebay. Around £150.

Also, does anyone know a good place to buy a modded stick? With UK despatch. I got in touch with one of the ebay sellers but wouldn’t mind finding someone cheaper.

Modding the Venom is piss easy. You can use the included harness and get some PC jumper extensions and connect them to the 5 pin in on the PCB. The modding is really brain dead easy.

I replaced my stick and buttons with Siemitsu (ls-56). All in was ~ $150, and it works with PS3, PS4, PC.

The case isn’t as nice as the fancy sticks guys at my local have, but I like it, and it is smaller than madcatz/hori which I like.

@larcat

I might give it a go. I’m not to bad with electricals. I read a little about modding it yourself. Not too much.

Do the buttons just click in? Like for like?

And where is a good place for artwork?

Edit… thanks

Yeah. You have to use some thing like a bic pen to get the old snap in buttons out – you press one tab with a finger and then lightly press the other tab with something.

Any 30mm buttons should fit the holes. I would go with screw on buttons instead of snapin. Easier to take out if you ever want to replace them. If you want to mess with button/housing colors, the buttons themselves just sorta snap out with tabs.

I didn’t change the art work but there is a nice vid online, a german guy I think, changing the artwork.

** Edit – there are templates up in tech talk forum as well.

Aww cool. Much appreciated. I’ll look in to it properly now then. I made a cheeky bid on an E.Ryu modded Venom. The only thing I’d change are the 4th buttons to a different colour and stick ball to match. If that doesn’t happen then I’ll ask the Mrs for a new Venom for the bday and buy some parts.

Sweet.

If it already has a Sanwa installed, you don’t have to mess with the only minorly annoying/ambigious part either. Changing the ball top is one screw.
