Hey all. Now I’ve had my arcade stick for a good while now, around 7 months now and it’s lasted me extremely well (the SE :D). Now what’s happening is the buttons get jammed and I think it’s because of all this gunk that has built up. As I have been maining Rufus and the mk is the most frequently pressed button, often nothing will happen even though I am hitting that button. Now the bad part is the stick is not mine and I’m not sure if you can even open it? What is the best way to clean the stick and buttons?

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to pop the inner part of the button out. Also stop eating while you play.

Is it your stick or not?

You can open up a SE by unscrewing the metal plate on the bottom. Take a picture to remember where all the wires go, pull the QDs (quick disconnects) off the buttons, and pop them out. You should then be able to remove the plunger and clean them out, like pherai said. However, if it’s your stick you might just want to buy some Sanwa (or Semitsu, depending on desired sensitivity) buttons from one of LizardLick / FocusAttack / etc. and replace the stock SE ones. SE parts have a tendency to actually break after about you’ve used them for 6-9 months.

My SE stick buttons lasted a couple of months, and they’re not that great at all.

You should think about changing them with sanwa/seimitsu parts, they’re really cheap, easy to incorporate in your stick, and simply great.

They’ll last alooooooooot longer, and are ten times more confortable than the basic ones.

Hmm yeah but me with screws and wires and screwdrivers is honestly not a good combination! lol. But yeah, thanks for all your advice, I’ll give it a go and not mess anything up (fingers crossed!).

I’m about the least mechanically inclined person, and I recently swapped some buttons on my TE stick (sanwa for better coloured sanwa) successfully. It’s a piece of cake.

Ok so I didn’t swap my button but I popped them out and gave them a good clean inside and out and seems to have made things worse lmao. My lp button only decides to work when it wants to and other buttons don’t work and all of a sudden accumulates all the failed attempts and sends them all out at once :L

I guess I’m just gonna have to fork for some Sanwa parts as I guess they’ll be better anyway. What price are they these days? And would I just be better off buying a new stick?

Sanwa 30mm Snap-In Buttons

You can get buttons for about 3 bucks a pop. Plus shipping.

oooo different colours. I like!

Thanks for that anyway, much appreciated
