Reminder tomorrow to everyone that we have our regular meeting in INTS 2136 from 6:40 - Close!
Hey all, I was directed over to this thread after some searching for anywhere hosting regular casuals in the area. I used to frequent club meetings out at Cal State Fullerton where I was enrolled, and now looking for something closer as I moved out to Moreno Valley. I hope you guys don’t mind me joining in, I’m really just looking for a solid group to level up my game and maybe one day go and compete @ EVO.
Yo what’s up man. If you are looking for casuals, then this thread should be the right place to look. This past Sunday, IEBG and Arcade Revival joined together for a joint event called Underground Beat held at UCR (which was pretty dope might I add). Unfortunately, UB looks like it’s going to be a monthly event rather than a weekly/bi-weekly thing. Before I say more, I have to ask: What games do you play?
I’m mainly play AE 2012 & UMvC3, also some MvC2, MK9& SF x T (although ok total ass at it). I’ve yet to pick up Skullgirls yet and I’ve tried my hand at BlazBlue but can’t seem to get the hang of it.
Based on my experience at Underground Beat, the Arcade Revival crew seem to favor Skullgirls, Blazblue, and Guilty Gear (although I did play some UMvC3 casuals with one of the AR crew). I would say that IE Battlegrounds tends to lean more toward AE 2012 and Marvel. They do have KoF 13 stations sometimes as well as MK9, SC5 and SFxT (hell, even some MvC2, Super Turbo (MAME), 3s, and Puzzle Fighter (lol)). Though I would agree that the games in parenthesis tend to pop up rarely at IEBG.
Thread can be found here: Saturday Night BattleGrounds @ Pitzer College (Claremont CA)
Also, if you are willing to make the drive, Super Arcade hosts weekly Friday night console casuals. Main focus on AE 2012 and UMvC3 with some Skullgirls and KoF 13. Starts around 8pm and can last to about 3am.
If you feel like testing your mettle at UmvC3 and SfxT, there’s a tournament being held on Sunday May 20th at James Games Arcade.
Thread can be found here: [Aug 26, 2012] IEBG: Tournament @ James Games Arcade: UMvC3, AE2012 & P4A (Upland, CA)
And that’s pretty much all the info I have for you. Hope you find what you’re looking for.
Coll man, thanks for all of the info! I used to hit up Super a lot while I was out at CSUF and I’ve only heard of James Games Arcade (I want to try and go there too).
No problem. You can usually find me hovering around the IEBG thread. Make sure to come out sometime.
Sooo! I’ve been busy trying to plan out our Geek Week Event!
We got everything together finally, so here are the details!
ALSO, OUR LAST MEETING IS May 29th! More details soon to come!
Glad to hear things are picking up for AR!
I live in the far away land of Canadia, but I’m extremely interested in hearing what Mike has to say. Do you know if it will be recorded or streamed?
Haha yeah i’m glad too! I was very surprised it was on the front of srk hahaha.
But @SRKmind, i do want to at least record the session if i can’t get a stream active. If i get a stream, i’ll def post up and let people know :]
