Gameworks is accessible by general public before 9pm. Just walk in, hang right and you should see a bunch of people gathered around watching the SF4 machine. There should be a table set up for registration and just give the money to Marcus and you are in.
Of course you can play before the tournament starts, the machines will be on, though I don’t think it will be on free play until the tournament starts (I was late the last time). But after the tournament, it’s free play all night for everyone.

If you wanna get warm up games in, you’re gonna need a hella lot more time than 10 minutes.

I’m thinking of going up a bit early myself, would like to get away from the house. What time could I show up and not have to pay for the arcade or whatever, like i’d be technically playing for the tournament but just playing casuals? If this isn’t possible that’s fine.
Depends when I’m done setting it up. I’m going to get there around 5-515, so figure 15-20min for setup time until it’s on event mode.

just get there early and hang out. no one really sets up anything, the techs have to set the machine on free play and marcus has to take money/organize people.
the place isnt hard to find so you should be good with gps or google maps.
