Her Glitched POW takes some of the most block damage for one level super.
Glitched POW super- Have Ruby Heart on one team and Sonson on the other. Have them both be on different sides of the screen then call ghost with Ruby then Snapback(Assist 2) then do POW Super with Sonson.
Glitch POW does some of the most block damage in the game and is one of the highest damaging supers and is sometimes unblockable if your in the air when you get hit by it. :encore:
where do people come up with these glitches and stuff? the POW glitch is like the most random thing in the world.
Also I can get three falling big staffs supers and a POW super in the same combo… :encore:
How?!?!?!
Hmmm no new stuff with son, really.
Shes mainly used as an assist character, and i try to avoid her being on point especially against the competition in my area, she wont survive much against the competition
I use her in my team… B.I.Son.
but again mainly as assist.
But sometimes though depending on what character is out and what assist they can call out… i use her her air dash as means of crossing them up with an assist. People also tend to fall for her “tick throws” alot, like wave dash towards them, c.lp, c.lp… jump over behind them + assist… if they block then c.lp > grab. if they dont block then pretty much you get a free dragon punch + big staff super.
as for her ground crawl i have more uses with her wall climb than her crawl  using the wall climb then diving kick, into pressuring. Cant really think of much uses for it on the top of my head, except to perhaps avoid chipping damage from warmachine’s shoulder cannon, iron man’s uni-beam, or maybe to avoid sentinels stomp down when trapped??? (not too sure about the last one).
but what you guys think? assuming that youre in the end of the screen and so is the opponent, ever used her lp monkey projectile, as means of covering your character that you want to tag in?
oh well, if i find out anything new with her ill let you guys know.
I will pm you animal(the sonson combo) it is late at night so I will do it tomorrow
Never got it.
Hell yeah, lp monkeys is way better since they’re slower imho.
I’ve given up trying to use the crawl for anything. Maybe if it was a quarter circle move or something, but a half circle move leaves me open too much it seems and I block alot with sonson.
The wall climb is hella useful with her though. If you time it right with a storm-proj assist you can take people off guard with the fk throw, that or, call storm, jump back lp monkeys, wall climb, kick, dash back can put pretty decent pressure on someone at times. Then you start mixing it up with that f+fp poke. Works for me, granted, I don’t play tourney quality people either…
The invincibility part of the big monkey startup is nice for getting her out if need be.
I use sonson! My sonson teams are:
anakaris(variety) storm(variety), sonson(anti-air)
cable(AA),storm(variety), sonson(AA)
storm(variety), sentinel(ground), sonson(AA)
I know this is a sonson thread but if anybody uses anakaris and you want to connect his pharoh’s magic super in a dhc you can with sonson.
j-in.fp, d.s. lp, lp, dp fp, staff super, (wait just until last hit),anakaris super(hk,lp,down,lk,hp) looks cool. Just thought I’d mention that storm was going to hail storm me when I was doing plasma storm to oponnents assist, I dhc into monkey super just as storm was going to hit me and the whole super missed sonson. poor storm wasted a super level for nothing. In the end she took all my fire breath and killed her with block damage . Sonson can play too. Thanks to vegita for the tip on his sonson faq.
I never understood why they made anakaris’s hypers so gay to activate? Who the hell wants to try to remember that 5 part activation instead of something like qcf+PP, etc?
Sorry, off topic I know.
I also love stealing the view with the wallclimb when someone superjumps or flys. I think it’s more useful than alot of people give it credit for.
I use her wall climb and come down with the kick. But lets say the block the kick like they always do. What I like to do is quickly cancel into the the special where she sucks you in. Try it they’ll haaate you for it. Stupid Mag’s always trying to rush in sonson but sonson could always use a free meal!
I play at tilt or at Nickelodeon here in the Rio Grande Valley ( Pharr, or Harlingen).
Somehow my storm got raped and my sentinel did good damage. In the end sonson was left against mags, sentinel commando. My sonson almost made a comeback. In another match only my sonson and IM was left with only 5 secs on the clock. We both didn’t have much life left, of course he tried to chip me with Proton cannon. But I was already thinking that he was going to do that. Of course I sj, air dashed over him and did the staff super. IM gonners.
Whose ever is reading this god forbid jk, may already know this combo but I’ll post it up.
s.lp,lp,c.hp,qcf+fp xx pow, (when sonson has spit out whaterver she spits out after eating) d.fp(otg),dp fp, staff super.
This is easier if you get them to take the pow when they are closer to the corner. Otherwise you have to wavedash once then otg with s.fp, dp fp, staff super.
Anyone got any combos post em up. TA TA
Well what a friend of mine does (he learned from one of the meikyusuki video… or however its spelled) is after a launcher instead of doing the magic series… he does:
Lp, delay LK, delay Lp -> QCF PP.
(You can also add more combos if the opponent was against the wall)
Damn, I never knew you could combo POW without an assist. But then again, I don’t really play mvc2. Also I didn’t know you could otg them after POW super. What wavedash exactly? just IAD?
to ur reply ZenFire,
wavedash is when u r repeatedly dashing towards ur oponnent. U can dash once by pressing 2pp+f, but if u want to dash faster across the screen mainly for pressure u can do: 2p, 2p+d,2p+d, u can repeatedly press 2p+d as many times as u want to continue to wavedash. U have to make sure that u don’t let ur character finish the first dash. U have to cancel the first dash with 2p+d(2 punches and down at the same time.)
I don’t know if ur new but I’ll try to explain it better since I know how if feels to play and not know how to roll out or otg or wavedash when i first started. When u press the two punch buttons u dash right. U can also press foward, foward on the joystick to dash , but to wavedash it requires dashing with the 2 punch buttons. say ur storm and u dash with the 2 punch buttons she has a fast dash but not a full screen dash. TO apply pressure or to dash faster u would wavedash. You basically cancel whatever animation of the dash with 2p+d, to wavedash. sorry if i went on too long.
I get it. I allways wondered how come some ppl could dash so many times in sequence… and yes, I am new at mvc2. Or at least, I’m AS GOOD AS new to it.
Is that method the same thing ppl use to dash after a flying screen to OTG? Cus I could never figure out how they got there so fast.
ZenFire, some supers can be followed with a dash not all. EX: magneto’s shockwave super can be followed up with a combo just time a dash and lk and it’ll hit . I don’t play magneto so I really wouldn’t know what else to tell u bout him.
Are there any traps wit sonson i know one with her and sentinel its…
sonson on point with sents/y assist
s.lp s.lk s.hp s.hk [press drones assist after hk not at da same time] then dp with hp the rengekgeki thingy idk if anyone knows that it works good but yea
I just been lately using SonSon (AA) , Doom (AA) , Silver Samuari ( project). they pretty much help each other alot and doom covers both of them , espically samuari’s little lag moves here and there and Sonson’s aa sets up samuari for his lightning super on top of it u can always cross up supers between doom and any of the 2
The other day i managed to (accidently) use sonson’s HCB+P (I think thats the input. The move where sonson puts them in a cauldron and cooks them) on magneto to grab him out of tempest.
Probably useless, but just in case mags does a standalone tempest in an attempt to DHC out or something, and youre close enough, its probably worth a shot. But then again, maybe not
Just to clear this up, the wavedash command is 2P, then you just cancel with a down input; you have to return to neutral before you hit 2P to dash again, or else you’ll end up with a crouching punch.
