So guess I found a friend who knows a guy who will guarantee to fix my ps3 for $95. He said its NOT the RROD but rather it’s basically the same error as the E74 for the Xbox. The soldering for the motherboard melted and he’s going to resolder it and replace the chips that melted off. But damn…getting the RROD and YLOD all in one week…wtf???

Okay… like I said, the PS3 got the RROD.

Xbox’s get RROD because of cracked solder points on the motherboard, whether it’s the GPU (related to video output) or the CPU. Same goes for the PS3, YLOD occurs because of cracked solder points on either the power supply capacitors/diodes or motherboard itself.

Also that guy doing the repair for you is an idiot, NOTHING should be replaced; solder points don’t “melt off”, especially while it’s being cooled down by the PS3’s fan. And if it were actually hot enough to melt the solder points, the PS3/360 will never get the “light of doom”. All that’s needed to do is to re-flow the solder points using a heat gun for both system’s errors.

Also FYI, the YLOD is more frequent among the original launch PS3’s just so you don’t feel as bummed about getting raped by system errors.

Well…right ot wrong he says he guarantees he fixes it or he’ll give my money back. I’m trusting this guy he showed me different PS3s he’s worked on and what causes what error so I’m putting my faith in him.

Yeah well, I just had to herd a goat into my garage, so fuck your shit. If you reg by the 27th it’s 30 instead of 40 at the door. Add in 10 for SSF4, 5-10 for gas, and 20 or so for the room and you’re looking at 65 or so, with food being the only additional cost. I’d like a little more for the room, but i’ll take what I can get so that i’m not at a goddamn major by myself. Don’t even try to tell me that the first NCR wasn’t worth what you spent that weekend, unless you’re Mike. Shit was fun.

lol yea sorry for doing that, but i noticed every time i’d do an empty jump and crouch option select throw, to start a block string/combo i’d get thrown out of it anyway. so i just started doing empty jump dp lol. just becareful about always throw teching an empty jump. you put alot of pressure with those dive kicks and block strings, definitely alot tougher since the last time i played you.

So here’s my situation. My PS3 has a chance to get fixed OR the guy said he would swap me for $180 for a new slim. Should I fix the PS3 I have for $95, or get a slim for $180. The PS3 fixed will have a 30 day guarantee, and the slim he’ll give me a year guarantee. What say you guys?

Send it to Sony, for $150 they’ll send you a refurbished launch PS3 or slim PS3. Doesn’t matter if you have warranty or not.
