Anyone Planning to Ouya?

Those are not valid comparisons. With CoD on PC vs console there variables such as input device and friends. If a person prefers to play on a controller then they should play on console because they’ll be at a huge disadvantage trying to play with a controller on PC, also if your friends are on console that makes sense too. Also it doesn’t matter how much more powerful a PC can be than a console, consoles still have exclusive games that make them worth owning. These scenarios don’t factor into the Ouya vs. Phone discussion. Same games, same input devices.

As far as having an iPhone, I mentioned earlier that’s a bit of a reason to pick one up, but that’s just a fault of Apple’s OS.

Does anyone here actually own this thing? Thinking about picking one up for the sole use of running emulators on it.

@Vynce Why? Your PC can be beyond ancient and will still emulate anything the OUYA can. Just go buy a PS4 pad(which are available now) or some other pad that works with PC’s out of the box and you’re good to go.

Edit: Your 360 pad would work.

I was just thinking how I could DVI my laptop to my extra flat screen. Only drawback is no audio solution beyond headphones. The Ouya would be more convenient.

Edit: Mod a Wii same price even better emulators better controllers. As for the bold I’m not even joking. Oh some backers still haven’t gotten their units.

The cost of buying a Wii in the first place makes the cost more prohibitive. I also have a great, wired arcade stick that I can plug into the Ouya. As well as a PS2-USB adapter that works quite well.

The sad truth is, I don’t think the laptop I have could even run an N64 emulator as well as the Ouya can. I’m just looking for impressions about the emulation itself from people I trust.

Let me just say I backed this and fuck Ouya, may as well use any cheap laptop to play the games it offers and does what it does, slow, buggy and they even had the nerve to enable HDCP.

Haven’t tried any emulators that run 32bit games but everything else ran fine. Poor Ouya.

Wii’s are > $50 everywhere now. Can also use your Gamecube pad if you got one lying around too.

Okay, I was at Target holding an Ouya. And I decided against it. I thought you’d be pleased. I was like, “That’s 1/4th of a PS4.”

Get a better laptop.

Or get an MS Surface Pro 2.

.

Spending big money on a devil box? Never again.

Good. The murmurs of Ouya 2 have begun anyway. I’m hoping for something a big bigger to accommodate 4 usb ports, and an sd slot. The current controller is getting a quiet update now actually. It won’t look or be packaged any different from the one on shelves now but there are supposed to be improvements to the face buttons and triggers I do believe.
