Anyone picking up DOAU?

Just about every game requires the push of a button.

Yeah it does. I don’t understand the hate towards a block button, shit works wonders espicially games like VF where you can start to bring your leg up by pressing the kick button(duh) but then cancel it set it back down to fake yout oppenet out ny thinking the will counter the kick when all you have to do is block and counter or reverse there counter, side step,go into another move,… Shit, sorry just had to get that off my chest.
The block buttton in this game doubles as the counter button as well as the button to free up 8 movement I believe, hence why it’s called the free button. Although I was reading in a teamxbox interview with Itagaki and he mentioned you could use the analog stick to move about and block with it but I’ll have to check it out again since typing about it it makes no sense. Sorry about the little block button rant. :china:

I’m picking it up since I got MK: D, CvS2, SVC and GGX2 on the Box.

Just finished reading the feature about online play on ign and this shit sounds pretty cool. Alot of the stuff has been mentioned before but some new stuff like being able to change your screen name for this game, so you don’t have to go by your GT is a pretty cool feature it still keeps your stats and ranking even if your screen name is different from you GT tho’ . The reveiwer mentioned that in the states the online play was smooth(of course they said the same thing about #R, thank god for DreamTR) but he mentioned that while playing another editor from Denmark the game lagged. That sucks since playing gamers from Japan without lag would kick ass but oh well.

come on, u know what i mean

is it like the others when some one who just mashes the buttons has the same chance against someone who knows what to do

I couldn’t resist :razzy:

Anyway, that’s a wait and see. After seeing the match vids at doacentral.com. I belive a scrub doesn’t have a chance against someone who plays this regularly like Tom Brady or Virtua PAI at the doacentral boards. I myself am still a little skeptical. I know what you mean tho’, in DOA3 my friends brother did nothing but counters so I ended up throwing his ass(in the game) the whole time. That shit was frustrating because, at the time I liked DOA and was something other than VF I liked to play in the 3d realm. For DOAU the timing isn’t as leanient as DOA3’s since it’s based off of DOA2 (DevilJin01 might argue with this but I know I’m not the only one in this assumption).

Sorry if that was too long and hypicritical. But now I’m thinking DOA does have rewarding gameplay but it’s a lot harder since the counters are easy and high damaging.

my .02

I picked up DOA:HC last night for the PS2 and yes this game does have a block button like I mentioned in the last post but you can also hold back on the d-pad/analog stick.

yeah it will just be a mashing heaven for those who suck too much for a real fighter. dont get your hopes up for a real game.

i cant wait to see all the dumb fuck “doa masters” act all cool cause they outmash their opponents.

Umm. Mashing gets you killed in DOA.

There are 3 ways to block in Doa:

A) Hold the free button
B) Press and/or hold back
C) Press and/or hold d/b or d/u to block while Free stepping(in 3d).

*Btw. You do not need to hold down the free button to free step. Just tap Up/down.

-No. Contrary to What others would like for you to believe, A masher of any form cannot beat a well versed player(that is good anyway). The first sign of a good player, is knowing if he or she is poking to set his or her opponent up, as well as their understanding of moves with priority, speed, safety(from being retaliated against), moves that give frame advantage, and their ability to execute these things. You will see just how good your peers will be when DoaU ships

Hey cool, didn’t know you posted here. Thanx for the input about my counter problem (the one I posted at your site), whooping that fools(my brother) ass. I knew about not being predictable but the other info came in handy.

BTW, I thought they changed for this version of the game, that you didn’t have to hold free then tap up or down to free step. I though it was more like DOA3 in that regard.

Sup Vpai!! it’s Doaplayer!! yo ya can’t tell these guys anything bout doa they will just flame it to hell lol but then again they think noobs can beat high level players

anyways see y’all when DoA hits i’m gettin it and prepare for some beat downs folks

(I"M NO BM’r)

-Whats up Guys, I post here once in awhile. Im not realy concerned about the bashers…been there done that.
