Anyone here bought a VEWLIX kit from KRAY?

I went back through the pages and only found dead links or its the Kraylix version not the Vewlix, so if any one had the Vewlix artwork and can upload it for me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Alex

If its the PSD… it will have both the Kraylix logo and the Vewlix Logo

The file on megaupload still works…

Hey guys, I know that the file still works but I am looking the the file that has the Vewlix artwork not the Kraylix artwork.

Dirty-d: as far as I can tell, that file dosent have both just the Kraylix but I am such a beginner with photoshop I am not totally sure.

Thanks
Alex

Hey guys thanks for all of the help. Dirty-D is going way out of his way to help me out. With his artwork on Kray’s cab it will be absolutely gorgeous!!!

Btw what kind of protection do you guys have on the wood for the control panel? Im afraid after LOT LOT of hour play on it the paint will go away…

I sprayed lots of clear coat on it and then spent lots of time wet sanding and buffing. Hopefully it will last for awhile!

For a high wear surface your going to want to use a polyurethane and apply with a brush. Its used for hardwood floors and can be applied over latex or oil based paint. You can thin it with mineral spirits if you want to stretch out the amount of coverage, but I wouldnt thin it anymore than 1/3 to 1/2. Dont be tempted to slop it on. Lay it nice and thin. Dont cut corners. Be prepared to apply 2-3 coats. Lightly Sand in between coats with a High grit paper to keep the surface smooth.

I strongly recommend you use a test piece first to get used to how it lays with the brush.
You can clean your brush with Mineral Spirits between coats.

Typically Minwax Polyurethane will work just fine. It stinks and requires several thin coats and ventilation but the results are excellent if you want a plastic like finish. You can choose the level of gloss you prefer Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin

I use it for furniture that I build myself and the durability will last for several years with moderate use. I have used it over painted surfaces as well.
I believe that Donovan Myers used a poly or lacquer on his build as well.

I used the same thing and even with just one coat it looks and feels durable. It looked like it preserved my bad paint job. Speaking of which and since you mentioned you do furniture, is it possible to even sand down anything finished with lacquer? I’m thinking about sendng it to a shop to have it repainted. I’ve used an oil-based sealer/primer, regular paint, then the lacquer. I’m hoping that it would be easy enough not to bring the price up on the paint job.

does anyone have experience using chrome spray paint. any recommendations on what brand or how it should be applied to wood?

Yeah you can sand the lacquer off.
Sand to a smooth surface Remove all dust with a damp cloth and/or with mineral spirits.
Be careful when you sand.
The Vewlix style cabinets have many sharp body lines and corners so you will want to take it easy to keep things straight and sharp.
If you sanded into the wood you’ve gone to far. Its very important that you try to avoid this.
You just need to get a good scuff to the surface so your paint can have a nice bond.

Thanks alot my friend

Where are you guys getting the acrylics that go over the control panel and the movelist area? Are you just buying some sheets and cutting them yourselves or do you know of a place that cuts them to size for you?

they are included with the kit

Just wanted to say that I’m another satisfied Kraylix customer (no pics yet, it’s not quite there yet with the graphics…). I also wanted to congratulate Kray on successfully reading my mind.

As I was unhinging the control panel to lug this thing upstairs, I thought to myself, "Self, wouldn’t it have been a good idea to have some extra button holes drilled into the bottom of this case? Since you’re putting a PS3 into this thing, that would have been perfect for select+Home buttons. Curse your poor foresight.

But lo and behold, as I reached under the (freaking huge) control panel, I realized that Kray anticipated my thoughts through time and space and hooked me up with those buttons. You’re a lifesaver!

I’m in the process of wiring my control panel and have a question. If I want to wire select/back and turbo to the same button how do I go about doing so? Each Sanwa button has 2 connectors so would I plug one wire into the turbo terminal on the pcb and the other into select/back?
