im using a madcatz 4716 controller i believe. just finished a custom with it and everything works perfectly except for the mic port. it registers that there is a mic connected even when there is nothing in the jack so using a wireless mic is out of the question unless i can disable the jack so it picks up as disconnected. looked at everything with an eye piece and there is no solder anywhere nothing is touching everything is perfect save this one annoyance.
i know when i did this with the madcatz retro pcb i just snipped the ribbon and it registered as always being plugged in (so just desoldering the mic from the 4716 is most likely a bad idea).
last thing. on the usb plug connected to the pcb, what is that super thick black cable for?
i think it’s crimped but im not sure, everything works on the controller with no problems. could this cable be the reason the mic port is malfunctioning?
i know what the ferrite core does, but what i was wondering is about the super thick black cable next to the other 4 USB cables soldered to the pcb. the thick black cable is soldered right next to the other ones. the bottom pic here shows all the cables.
starting from the bottom is
SUPER THICK BLACK
BLACK
WHITE
GREEN
RED.
can i dismiss that SUPER BLACK CABLE or could it be causing the problem with my mic port since the cable is crimped pretty tightly.
when nothing is in the jack a2 and a3 are connected, plugging something in interrupts that connection and is how the xbox tells whether or not something is plugged in.
what you need to do is just connect a2 and a3 somehow.
