I’mma let you finish but… Hokuto no Ken was the greatest Basketball fighting game of all time.
Barabariball is practically the definition of a sports-game/fighting-game hybrid. It did not exist in the public eye when this thread was created. I’m looking forward to trying it out when it gets released.

I remember reading that WWE All Stars hit that sweet spot.
WWE All-Stars was one or two little things away from being a really good game.
I had a ton of fun with it, unfortunately most of my local FGC wasn’t super into pro wrestling when the game came out.
there was a baseball (flash?) game being covered here in which you swing a bat at a ball to hit a wall, in which you and your opponent would dodge it.
Also some hockey games had a fighting game mode IIRC
At any sports game, if you deactivate fouls, it turns into a fighter-brawler
