Yeah, sadly I hear VF5 on 360 accomplished good online play and it’s a 3d based fighter. So I had a lot of hopes for T6 but recently the publisher does not sound too confident about the online portion of the game. If it’s just a step above T5dr I wouldn’t mind.
Well KOF12 was a disaster, I actually had some good matches in T5dr in the same city. While KOF12 that wasn’t the case, but at least T6 will be a good game regardless of online play.
I have Tekken 5 online and its no where near as bad as it used to be but it isn’t good. the thing is, in my opinion sc4 has a very acceptable netcode in comparison to a lot of games, yeah it may not be as good as VF5’s but it is in some ways equal if not better than street fighter 4’s consistency, so Tekken 6 having a better netcode than Namco’s past efforts has got me excited, it might not be par with VF5 but anything better than sc4 and sf4 is good enough for me.
No one is going to care about the netcode for T6. Tekken has the same recognition as Street Fighter. Look at SF4’s online. It’s not good but sales were still great just based off the name recognition and barely passable online. After selling so well, was Capcom motivated at all to improve the online further? No. The makers of Tekken 6 will most likely make the online similar to past Namco titles which were barely passable to the majority of people. Will it be the best? No. Will it be just about good enough that most people won’t care? Most likely.

SF4’s online was passable though. Yeah, it’s C+ netcode, but at least you can find opponents, even on PSN, and get a decent match without a lot of lag/BS. (I’ve been lagged out a few times, and gotten a few cheap lag wins myself though)
I’ll say this, I intend to wait 2-3 days on Getting Tekken 6 to see how the netcode shapes out.
T6 is not only a really good fighter, but the amount of console features is ridiculous. Even if the net-code actually sucks hard what you get is still worth it. To be honest local comp will always be better than online in this gen at least. Just do to the fact that right now not everyone has a good connection world wide. Companies are also just starting to get how online fighting works.
If the net-code does suck it will hurt people in smaller communities but this is no KOF12. The game is actually good and is worth what you pay for. I will go on record saying that Tekken 6 will be bigger than T5dr in terms of comp in NA. The game is going to explode mark my words.

That’s not true. Ono has done a few interviews stating that online will be improved. Based on his wording, the speculation is lobbies, spectating, and better netcode. And that’s extremely good, considering that SF4’s netcode wasn’t too bad.
All that said, I have no hope for T6 being any good online. SFIV seems like it was primarily made for a Western console audience, so it likely had serviceable online planned from the getgo. Tekken has been arcade-centric since DR and Japan arcade-centric since that. I’ve never even played the shoe-horned DRO, but I’m guessing that BRO won’t be too far removed. Even after DRO, they still released SCIV’s shitpile online mode.
I mean, hell, the Tekken dev’s own words about it weren’t good:
Wow, such confidence and backing. No figures or statements about tests between players in two very distant locations. No statement saying the performance is “great” or “very close to offline.” It’s a statement where the guy might be saying that it’s better than a piece of shit that no one liked. But at least they “completely rewrote” it.
The whole thing is akin to seeing an “under new management” sign in front of a crappy store.
I was talking about the online for SF4, the game that’s currently out.

I second this opinion as well. Everybody and their grandmother are going to play tekken 6. That includes casual gamers.

Uh, what?
Isn’t it generally the opposite? We want GGPO style netcode, not input delay bullshit.

My hopes are high, but my expectations are low.
Good thing about T6 is, it’s gonna be so popular that there will be plenty of offline play for it.
OSHI…get PSN please. I can show you how wrong you are.

I’ve got an awful feeling about this netcode just by how namco bandai always responds to questions regarding it.
They’ve been dodging it all the time, and give generic replies. Completely rewritten netcode? They don’t even talk about it… ever.
If the netcode was good they could implement it into their market strategy and make it a good selling point.
No offense, but no decent Tekken player would settle for a match online.
doesnt prove anything cause 5dr netcode is balls
werent you gonna come to seasons beatings? dude you quoted lives in ohio…do i smell a moneymatch? its ok if youre 11 you can just bet like pokemon cards or w/e
Exactly. They are really promoting the new Tekken Force mode over everything else.
Remember how long it took for Ono to talk about SF4’s online play? Even then, people were holding their breathe until S-Kill talked about being able to sometimes have playable games vs. Japanese players. Correct me if I’m wrong please.
I gotta say though…I don’t have much faith either.
Implying SF4’s netcode was good. 5 frames of delay with the Japanese =/= Good.
When I said what I said, I meant to highlight on the fact about how long it took for us to hear news about SF4’s netplay, and how the netplay turned out better then we expected, for some skeptics like me. I never meant with my words to imply that SF4 has good netcode.
