Anti-Sagat notes

Sorry man…

EDIT: His arguments just make absolutely no sense… he baited me… and he keeps saying shit like “I LIKE CHEESE! NOW TELL ME IF KNOCKING SOMEONE DOWN IS AN ADVANTAGE!”

rofl…tsk tsk…

Bison’s c.FP counters all of Sagat’s jump ins. He can slide under high tiger. In general he’s a pretty good character against Sagat; great jump, good pressure, etc.

I don’t think so actually. I have some trouble against good C-Sagat players whenever I’m using Bison. They don’t jump at me… ever. So I’m stucking trying to play a ground game versus them. Outside of footsies with far s.MP (which makes me lose my charge… :bluu: ), seems like nothing I do against Sagat is safe.

Anyway, I end up guard broken a lot more often than I like whenever I face C-Sagat. I’ve stopped using R2 A-Bison as a result actually.

The match definately isn’t impossible, but I wouldn’t say it’s a totally favorable match for Bison’s either. It’s probably around 50/50 or just slightly in Sagat’s favor.

The best thing about Bison vs Sagat, is that Bison can do s.LP x 4, far s.MP xx one hit scissor combo/guard breaking string against Sagat.

Seriously??? 4 s.lp, s.mp, scissor kick?? I got to try that…

best strat against a bison is to turtle imo. it seems trying to rush him down is next to impossible. blocking bison = charged bison. not good. i’d rather bait him out and make him come to me. we all know what happens when you jump.

i really like guile vs bison. it seems rc sonic boom at a reasonable distance is a lot safer than a lot of attacks. makes it hard for him to come in. as long as you stay in that sweet spot, guile is safe. bison can’t really jump in without getting aa and rc scissor kick won’t do any good. opinions?

I made another thread for anti-bison stuff actually.

Too bad Sagat can hit Bison after a 1-hit knee-press.

only when bison is close. after cr.lpx4 st. mp xx lk scissor kick bison is at too far a distance for anything that comes out fast enough to hit him. crossing up with RH. and then doing bison’s safety string is godly against sagats. his only good option is to block everything and take the 55% guard crush. busting out with alpha counter against low jabs is dangerous against A-bison. and alpha countering against the st. mp wont even connect. A-bison beats C-sagat. nobody wants to believe it but its true. sagat will eventually get guardbroken or baited leading into a 70% combo. sagat’s options against turtling bison are:

-cr. fierce-

stand outside the range of this move because its ideal range for A bison. if you look for this move and i guarantee every sagat has to use this move some time only the good players wont whiff. if you know your range and know that he threw it out too far away, activate right away and slide then do your thing. you lose no frames by activating unlike breaking stock so just look for the low fierce and you should shut it down. without meter just slide. if you must block this move then block it. dont try to trade anything or get slick. you eat lots of damage like that. just let the move push you back into your ideal range(1 hit scissor kick)

-jump in-

down fierce solves all problems when sagat jumps in against you from the front. if he crosses up with j. lk over your head thats a little different. just jump back mp if he waits too long to throw out the lk in the air, or if you have a custom just do the AA custom(activate close st. mp, jab elbow move, scissorkick to the corner) if you dont have the meter you can just block the chain if you have enough guard to escape guardbreak. remember, while youre block hits youre also getting meter.

-roll-

this is easy as pie. look for the roll as well as the cr. fierce. sagat should not be able to get in past that range against bison anyway. if you got meter activate and hit him on the recovery of his roll. if you dont got meter just slide to hit him out.

-dash-

dash is too good. it gets scary when he does a move that gives him enormous frame advantage then uses his quick dash to get him in where he needs to be. either be ready for a throw or do crouching jab. bison has a 2 frame crouching jab so people throwing you shouldnt happen that often. if they do something else like dash super then thats pretty tricky. best bet is to jump back when you think its coming but its a pretty good guessing game for sagat. you just gotta know sometimes. best way to is to avoid the whole situation by staying in the 1 hit scissorkick range. that way if he dashes cr. mk should stop him. the move will stop him from everywhere but he cant mix anything up if hes not dashing right next to you.

-st. mk-

this is sagat’s only saving grace in this fight. RC 1 hit scissor kicks will beat this move. roll into whatever you want will beat this move although its risking a lot. its really a great move against bison because its got the same reach as bison has on his safest move. RC scissor kick is better though. just battle it out. if youre sure hes gonna do the kick then roll. those are the only ways i can think of how to beat it.

everything i just says applies mainly to when sagat is losing to bison already and has to find a way in. the other way around pretty much sucks. sagat is a true turtle. but there are ways in on him. most of the time you just gotta break his guard. make him nervous. theres a point where you can jump on sagat where hes pretty much helpless. not really crossing him up. but right before crossing him up. that way he cant reverse DP or if he does regular DP he’ll go behind you and you just activate or combo. other ways to take sagat down are walk fwd jabbing. like for example you can walk fwd and jab him then throw. or maybe you can get in throw range and do 2 cr. jabs slowly then st. lk slowly, that way you’ll have enough charge to do mk scissor kicks and you can activate off that. i just realized that i didnt give any advice on how to beat st. lk. maybe some other time. i’m bored.

Wow Josh, thanks! Your post is quite helpful and I really appreciate it.

Too bad I heard you kissed some guy in Canada, so now I have no respect for you anymore…

tao is a lier. dont listen to him and his canadian lies. anyways more anti sagat.

-st. lk-

this move is very good. priority, speed, recovery, but not damage. the tip of this move does shit damage. the 1st hit does 200 while the 2nd hit does 400. you shouldnt be getting hit by the 1st part if youre in the short scissor kick range anyways. 400 damage is trash though. getting hit by 2 or 3 of these isnt that big of a deal even though you should block anyway. the best thing to do is to walk back a little. the move can be blocked standing so dont worry about just shifting your joystick from down back to back. you’ll still have your charge and you’ll block anything from that range that can hit you low. dont get cornered by this move cuz thats where things turn into shit. if you do get cornered
and hes closing the gap, dont be afraid to battle him with standing mp, cr. mk, and standing jab. now i think that the st. light kick beats all 3 of those moves so wait until he does nothing. if hes throwing out lks like a nut then just RC psycho crusher or 1 hit RC lk scissor kick. the range where that scissor kick hits once and is unpunishable by sagat is the same range where you can normal jump on sagat without fearing tiger uppercut because it will go behind you. keep him from cornering you with good jump ins, educated RC psycho crushers for damage and RC 1 hit short scissor kicks for ranging. if sagat has you cornered and is waiting for you to short scissor kick and knows he will block it and punish just say FUCK YOU and walk up a little bit and standing mp. make him realize you wont give him a move to punish so easily. now make sure you dont psycho crusher because sometimes you walk fwd a little bit then press a punch and the psycho crusher comes out. just practice that a little. walk fwd cr. mk is an alternative because you can hold down and you know a special move wont come out. however the range is not as good as the st. mp against sagat.

ok all of this info is A bison vs C sagat and when A bison has a lead and C sagat is trying to get in.
